An Apology to Our Players Using NA/EU Data Centers

On behalf of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Development Team, I would like to extend my deepest apologies to those Early Access participants who have had difficulty using the NA/EU data centers.

In response to a variety of issues, we have conducted emergency maintenance several times over the past few days. The first instance, which was conducted six hours following the beginning of early access, was for the purpose of addressing the errors 90000 and 3000, which were first discovered during phase 4 of the beta test.

Our server team then began taking measures to improve the performance of the lobby and duty finder servers. The subsequent emergency maintenance was necessary to implement their changes.

This maintenance proceeded as planned, and afterwards we verified that the stability of instanced battles and the duty finder was much improved. However, we then discovered that certain lobby servers had been improperly configured, and we were forced to conduct another brief maintenance to resolve this issue.

Although we have successfully addressed a number of serious issues in the past several days, we have nevertheless decided to implement login restrictions for the time being due to the extremely heavy load being placed upon the servers. In this way, we can ensure that the maximum number of players can play the game without risking a sever crash. I know no one wants to wait to log in, but I hope you all understand why we believe this precaution is necessary.

Once again, I would like to sincerely apologize to all our players who have been unable to enjoy Early Access due to the tremendous congestion, the ensuing issues, and the frequent maintenance.

Everyone on the development and operations teams is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our customers, and we will continue to do our utmost to resolve the remaining and any future issues.

While nice to have the productor address the issues directly, I still expect a compensation of some kind. Otherwise, I just might force myself to not play the game to prove a point.

More interestingly the maintenances did improve the issues, oh how foolish I was for holding such an opinion.

Since the servers are in Quebec it was poutine instead of maple syrup. Gravy and cheese curds everywhere...

Aye, I just did my solo quest up to ifrit. I suspect it'll be like this most work days. Its the nights that are going to be a terror, as well as weekends. This is identical to Rift, but, again, to be fair, Trion underestimated just how many people were interested in the game.

They responded by adding like... Jesus... 25 servers? Some crazy high number.

@Hyan: Ask anyone around here if they noticed any noticeable difference between the beginning of EA on Saturday morning and your post, arriving sometime Sunday morning. I shouldn't even have to say this, but it bears repeating for someone of your thickheaded nature. SE telling someone that they noticed a difference each time is no different than SE's PR writers describing the issue as affecting "a small amount" of players.

But yes, if you want to cite PR responses as credible evidence to your outlandish claims, far be it for me, or anyone else, to stop you. Carry on, good sir.

This is NOT an acceptable response to give paying customers.
EA or not, this will be occurring once it goes live as well.

Nothing changed during the weekend, won't have a chance to check again until tonight which i'm sure will be borked as it was the last two days.

You're wrong, though, and so am I. Hyan is right because Yoshi-P said so in a PR-crafted letter that he probably didn't even compose. Everything got better with each and every maintenance!

Lets all believe PR-released letters. Lets believe that Sim City could have never been released off-line, because EA said so! They wouldn't lie to us. Honest!

Servers probably going down so they can delete all the Beta4 characters that didn't get in for EA in a move to force people to go to "less" populated servers. Problem fixed. *dusts off Yoshi-P's hands for him*

I don't care it I have to sit in a que of 500 people that moves very very slowly, but having to spam the login server to get a chance to not be 1017'd is unacceptable and not a "necessary step." It's basically saying "thank you for your money, you literally cannot play the game"

Do you actually know what PR is? I want some sort of we at least know wtf the actually issue is and this is what we plan to do to solve it. Just saying it was fucked (when it still is) it got better (not really) its fucked again, so now were going to just sit on it is a shitty response.

that wasn't even a response by SE. it was more of a "deal with it" as we prevent you from playing a game you paid for, for no other reason than because our server structure is terrible and if we let everyone in then the game blows up
