For a casual friendly game, XIV is shaping up to be even more of an elitist clusterfuck than its predecessor with regards to dungeon runs. I can only imagine the impression new tanks/healers are going to get when playing with ilvl55 gear versus the ilvl90-110 crowd since apparently everything must be SR and all of the pulls are automatically uploaded to a new tanks repertoire. Asshurt all around because if you aren't clearing in record time you're not playing the right game.

Shit like Halatali HM where newbies can cut their teeth on easymode content last night turns into a DRG whining because Altana-forbid I try to learn the zone and not get myself killed by pulling everything. Brayflox? DD running in to pull shit because they can't be arsed to wait a few seconds.

Not pulling fast enough? Fuck it, let the DD run and zerg everything while whining about heals and tanks then get chastised for having entry level gear. Ifrit/Garuda HM are a fucking joke but sure enough someone must whine if things don't go exactly as envisioned and we aren't talking about wipes here.

Sounds pretty annoying. Guess I'll have that fun when I stop capping different roles/classes and work on the endgame grind.

Best way to avoid this while gearing up? Run the older high-level dungeons to a certain point, then move on to other stuff?

That'll work to a point, but you're going to be missing out on the Roulettes which are a nice bonus to myth/soldier and chunk of change. One of the silver linings is that as tanks we can just embrace that everything we do will be wrong forever and just let it slide. The people who get mad about DF not being made entirely of pro i110 players speedrunning for them aren't worth the worry.

Sticking to older dungeons will be rough only because there's somehow an ADDED expectation to go fast through them. People are used to WP being the starting ground for speedrunning so if you aren't pulling multiple packs at once, they might complain. Even AK's got people in it who bitch if you're not grabbing 5+ monsters a pull. It's plenty possible now, sure, but I'd hate to be expected to do it and hold threat as an i55 tank.

I'd put my money on starting runs with "Hey, this is my first time here, if there's any tricks I should know about, please let me know." Folks who know will pipe up, folks who don't don't get to bitch, and people who'll quit on you will quit and hopefully get replaced. DPS are a dime a dozen these days, so you'll just be hoping your healer isn't retarded.

Complaint: Estimated rDPS queue times for expert roulette. Typically it says 5-7 minutes, but I end up waiting 30. I don't care about waiting 30 minutes, just don't tell me it'll be under five. I could get errands done while I'm in queue for more than 15 minutes.

I think that queue time takes an average of all roles combined. So if it tells you 5 minutes then for every tank and healer getting an instant invite there's a DPS waiting 15 minutes. It should be based on the role you're queuing for.

Yeah, I believe they changed that to be based on the role, but rDPS seems to be much longer than melee DPS (if I'm not mistaken). So they need to tease that part out and provide separate queue times.

Not sure if this goes here or in Random Fail but I was in AK for my book last night I had a SCH with 2500hp but was wielding an Allagan book. I pulled Antaboga into the corner and put his ass facing the wall like I've been doing since the dungeon came out and we ended up wiping because said SCH was standing in the conals. Then he had the balls to ask me if I've even tanked it before.

I'm guessing he paid for a win, because holy shit how do you not know about conals while wielding a Twintania weapon?

For the low HP, my guess would be he didn't repair. Or maybe a troll and glamouring low level items with high level items?

Ah right. I nearly always queue as BLM so that explains why my queues are nearly always 2-3 times longer than the average.

8-10 T5 runs this morning, first pool dropped h2h and brd legs which were free, won both. Past that Items I wanted didn't drop and free lot stuff went to other people D: I want to be done and capped on this turn so badly
