i'm not on comcast, and judging from the OF posts i looked at definitely isn't isolated to any particular ISP.
since i have nothing better to do with my free time, i have decided to try calling the support line so i can waste my afternoon waiting on hold
I DC'd once last night, but was able to get back on. However, I was constantly in a state of going in and out of connection with the game this morning.
yeah, that's what i had initially -- i could do stuff like check my retainers and market boards and whatnot, but it took forever to respond. now i can't even get into the servers.
received pretty much exactly the answer i expected: the problem is with my ISP, it's a widespread problem for people on the east coast, call them up instead.
oh well, no coil this week i guess, fuck![]()
Is this really all ISP based? I mean I don't ever lag or 90k even last night and this morning I was just fine.
So I feel like it can't be all SE's doing. Still don't get how isps can get away with using such shit paths.
ISPs can do whatever the fuck they want because they're generally your only option.

There was maintenance on SE's server ISP a day or two ago; my guess is some other ISP is now not communicating with that one correctly, thus strange routing and dropped packets.
Anecdotal evidence, but the 90k thing also happened to me two nights in a row earlier this week. I'm also on comcast. However my entire connection would drop for a split second, interrupting streaming music as well. My laptop on the same network streaming from the same site would not drop. On the second night, a reboot fixed things; on the first night, going to sleep muttering to myself did the job.
I wish they never added that tank reward for dungeons via duty finder. Sure I might wait 10 less minutes in the queue as a DPS, but chances are I'm going to get a tank that wants to tank 2-3 mobs at a time and focus on one of them. The run then takes twice as long over having an experienced group. It's not even a case of wanting a speed run, more a case of pull two groups at a time because you're taking next to no damage and the healer is getting a carry because he's doing nothing but toss a cure every 10 seconds. Though that itself is a complaint. If you don't need to cure anyone, at least toss Holy out.
^this...doing any dungeon on my 7k hp pld, still rotating cooldowns as needed, dodging everything, never dipping below 5k health in dungeons...healers still not dps'ing...I will vote kick your sorry healing ass....also on a similar note to complaining about lazy people, booted a Atma Dragoon (doing the run for his book) from Toto-Rak a couple of mornings ago because he was afk-auto-running into walls/mobs, and then when i get the mobs on me, he just auto-attacks like 50% of the time with no weaponskills....BOOT, if you want that animus you need to wake up bro.
Failed Hero on the Halfshell yesterday. Yes, that Hero on the Halfshell.
First off, the group wouldn't kill the raiders, tried to solo them down as WHM before the other DPS finally noticed what I was doing and helped. Tank and ARC keep attacking the turtle, before the tank realizes we don't kill him. However, he completely stops attacking it all together, so he eventually loses hate to the ARC who doesn't realize this and continually kites the turtle around the arena while continuing using skills on him. Tank can't get aggro back and the ARC eventually kills the turtle after we are all shouting at him to stop attacking the damn turtle.
I personaly see it the other way (and by that I don't mean to dismiss your personal point of view,) but looking at it from a tank pov I can clearly understand why it could be necessary to have it in place.
The reason is below, post taken from ARR Facebook, I deleted the names to respect their privacy:

In that case, where the tank is being the player the most criticized when a mistake is done, SE had to try and think of a solution to appeal the existing tanks/healers to play on the Duty finder. This solution was to bribe the tanks (or healer.)
Forcing any player to be in a tank position.
Tank/Healer mentality: I do things only with my FC to prevent the harassment of the DF (the main problem of a tank/Healer.)
versus
Any player mentality: I do things with my FC to prevent encountering a new/inexperienced/undergeared player (tank & healer again!) (The main problem of the DF, because of a bad playerbase communication/mentality.)
TLDR: Be nicer & comprehensive when someone in the DF doesn't meet your expectations because its not their responsibility to do so, one player doesn't contribute to 100% of the success of a team, the 4 players does.
Now to come back on your point of view (sorry to a while to explain mine) I think its not so bad because SE could have gone beyond the limit & reward extra tomes for the wanted job(s).
After of course it does not fix the bads, it does encourage them and I do agree 100% with you on that matter.
agreed, but to be honest about 1/10 players will take suggestions/criticism (even when given tactfully), hell, only about 5/10 players i meet through DF/DR even talk at all in paty chat...."hey man, have you thought about doing thunder2>fire3>fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>bliz3 instead of fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>fire1>freeze?? ? I hear there's a pretty comprehensive guide to blm on the bluegartr forums", response, 1:"go fuck yourself", 2: (silence)....honestly wish i could change jobs mid dungeon from tank to blm and show them how to blow stuff up. I'm in general not a dick/rude unless people are to me 1st (treat people how you want to be treated right), some people are just completely introverted/NEVER learned how to take constructive criticism
^ This is why I stopped pushing it with the advice when I see bad players in DF. It's either silence or "I don't use Heavy Thrust". I can't argue with that and I don't want to anymore. If it wasn't 2/3 dungeons I kept joining all the time I would just leave; I don't want to carry people like this.
You 2 are right, its such a chore to do it and there is no reason to invest your own/personal time to better someone when you should be taking care of yourself. But from my personal pov (again) when you want things to change you have to push them & be resilient. Right now the players are too selfish/selfcentred.
If everyone start to be comprehensive with each other and helping each other the pressure will go down and something stupid/irritating will become funny, at the end you might not be rewarded with the specific drop you wanted, but better! a new friend with who you will play more, who will learn from you and adapt to your playstyle (this apply to PF.) This is indeed the solution to the DF/PF problems, if you feel comfortable playing with someone who feel comfortable playing with you then you will take down any content, if you were asking the World 1st BG team they would probably mention it as a key factor of their own success.
The mentality is so bad right now that you get less tanks and healers, SE couldn't do alot to fix this so they bribe us tanks, but if people start to rethink a minimum about their own behavior and change it to favorise teamplay, then you will see a lot of new freshly made tanks who will enjoy the experience.
I know this might not happen for a long time, but its worth bringing it on the table.
playing tank or healer (in my case) is never fun, not in DF and not in PF. I see alot of over pulling just to please DPS or because the tank has a big ego. If i cant keep up on whm with divine seal cure 2 spam regen and medica regen and run out of MP because mobs are still alive i get the bitching that everyone died. I cant help it, i try my best but i am not a god that can save everyone on an overpull. its really frustrating for the healer and its happening alot lately in DF.
this happens usually at pull with 9 goblins pre 2. boss in brayflox.
has also happened it lost city pre diabolos pulling everything includeing big mobs held by statue
I had a fail on that this week (couldn't get hate back on my WAR after killing fire ele myself, then realized Voke cross-skill was blanked out courtesy of the low-level cap), and that other one where you have to kill the five demons within 10 seconds of the first dying. One of the DPS just kept tunnel-visioning and killing whatever he was on, and I said fuck it at that point and ate the 30 minute penalty.
