Real men don't farm atma because fuck welfare.

If you want i90 gear you need materia and if you want to penta meld it you could end up spending 1-2mil per item just on materia because of the prices. So I think there's a use for having lots of gil. Not that I'm willing to penta meld lots of gear however. I did it for the casting hat because I desperately needed accuracy for the T6 I couldn't do because my static was on its death bed and figured why not add other stats. Starting to regret that spend now lol.
I ended up clearing the AH of high priced materia and buying lots of Myth and other mats around 100k. Now I'm going to be spending the next week camping the AH to unload it. Prices move so fast your shit won't sell if it hasn't sold within 12 hours.
There's been high inflation on pretty much everything since 2.2 so I'm glad I stockpiled gil in 1.0. That nice Brayflox/DR gil is becoming insignificant when food/medicine prices have more than quadrupled since the patch. Materia prices are only going up too. The majority of people will soon be complaining they have no way to make gil again because while prices inflate the gil they're making is constant. I don't know what SE is trying to achieve by pumping so much new gil into the economy.
Helping crafter's for once. I'm fine with how things are now, the only need is food for a normal player. And you could buy cheap as fuck none HQ food that is still decent.
The materia market is a strange thing, crafted+melded gear is entirely optional in this game and only serves as a niche, half-step upgrade because it's always behind in ilvl to the current dungeon/tomestone gear. The only time crafted+melded gear is required is for DoL and DoH which.....only really exist to make crafted gear to be melded.
The materia supply is limited but so is the demand, all it takes is 1 person with bad luck and a lot of gil to go on a penta-melding binge to cause the price of any given materia to skyrocket overnight.
The vast majority of players (I would say) gloss over crafted gear and melds because it's a big, expensive headache for a diagonal improvement. It doesn't have much appeal when you can just run coil v1 and pick up comparable gear for free.
The materia market is probably only of real interest of crafters themselves due largely to convenience. IMO melding should be available as an NPC service for a fee a la how repairs work, if you're a crafter you can do it yourself cheaper but less conveniently and if you're not you can do it at greater expense but more convenience (also as mentioned, the game does seem to be in need of more gil sinks with all the new gil being introduced).
Mega Ethers were the shit. I was more than comfortable selling them at 275 each in a stack of 99, paying <5g per mistletoe and farming only the mugwort. Then people caught on and now each bottle is between 140 and 199. Lightning crystals alone are 35-40g a piece and it takes 6 lightning AND 6 water per ether.
I just find it kinda fun to try to get as much money as I can to make one job all crafted + melds on him. Gives me some goal to aim for.
wish i knew why my connection was so shitty today. mid crafts/queues keep disconnecting. shit is annoying.
Voice of the Just seems to be the goto earring of the week for low level dungeons. I know casters kinda get fucked if they didn't snag Cactuar Earrings, but I'm seeing tanks and dps in them too. Which is odd, because they gear up every other slot except for the one. More WTF than complaint, but you get the idea.
I ride Voice of the Just until 28ish pink earrings.
If you havn't done it by now your basically fucked anyway. Fate zones are back to being dead, good luck hitting multiple fates in 20 min and just waiting for atma's.
If they were smart, they will have made the drop% greater depending on the amount of time spent in the FATE (or alternatively, the amount of time the FATE had been up), so stragglers aren't completely screwed (or, ironically, might even find them easier to get)
This is SE we're talking about though, so...
The amount of times in DF where I get asked to give Ballad. Fuck off.
A. I'm the highest DPS
B. The fights should never need Ballad in the first place.
Either let the worthless shitheads who are sponging MP die or play your job better so you don't need ballad.
I thought you could get Atma from failed FATEs anyway.
I got two atmas 1/1 not even looking for them while doing beastmen dailies.
Had a friend craft the Taffeta Shawl, since the cloth wasn't selling. Love the hood and dye-ability, hate looking like a hooker.
You love it.
Edit: Yeah I think(idk) you can get atma from fails, but the point is you are not zerging fates into popping new ones with 60 ppl. Now it's like tap 3 fates and sit there for 15 minutes.
To a point, fuck mirror farming for a joke though.Because Levi fight spam is probably more fun than fate spam?
Pretty much this, the initial tidal wave of people farming ended a couple of weeks back and it's only going to get tougher and tougher. Lack of extension to the quest probably didn't help. But like Coil, EX primals and everything else before it, you have to assume they're going to ease the requirements when the next content comes through. Otherwise people aren't going to bother, and that equals failed content. They already fell short of numbers so I doubt they'll make the same mistake again. If they were smart, they will have made the drop% greater depending on the amount of time spent in the FATE (or alternatively, the amount of time the FATE had been up), so stragglers aren't completely screwed (or, ironically, might even find them easier to get)

Then to top it off you see shit like The Four Winds in Coerthas with one WHM crying for help across the zone, and wonder what the fuck they were thinking when they chose that particular FATE for a book.
