Oh I ignore itjust wish I was in the wiping process and 2 weeks under my belt
Don't worry your not in the kicking process but still try to get better![]()
I started levelling Gladiator, and after doing several dungeons, I have a new found respect for people who are bad at tanking. You seriously have to try hard to suck at this job.
Our FC / coil group has felt like a bit of a revolving door the past few months. Even had one dude sing his own praises to no end about how patient he was and how much he really wanted to join us. Ended up dropping us without a word (just stopped showing up) after our 2nd night of wipes in T7 (this was the 2nd week of the patch).
Like, I don't know. Are people a lot fucking stupider than they were 10 years ago?
It makes me long for FFXI since 99% of stuff took weeks or months to progress through so if you got antsy and wanted to bitch out you'd just end up being end of a 6 month line somewhere else. Everything in this game is NOW NOW NOW. Someone has to go afk for 2 minutes after 10 consecutive < 6 minute T4 wins? "Sorry guys taking too long, gonna drop." Someone dies after 3 levi wins in a row? Instant fight -> group disbands.
All honesty, I prefer the old model. I don't care that the new model with PF and DF suit my life better as I've gotten older. I'd rather be inconvenienced and feel like a group was something worth holding onto. Tired of thinking people are trustworthy / reliable and then having them jump ship at first sign of trouble.
I think i just got depressed from reading the last 15~ posts lol
I don't know if i'm just perfectionnist or elitist or w/e
But I just don't get why people cannot learn shit
I mean we spend 2 weeks on t7 2 fucking weeks then we beat it.
Why can't people do the same thing as we did when we won?
People back in FFXI, just had more patience. of course a young generation played back then and had tons of free time. FFXIV now has a mostly following crowd of 20+ year olds playing where their doing more stuff in life, so less time to deal with stuff.
Anyway as a complaint, I got to agree some people jut don't learn at a decent rate. What happened to the days people learned stuff after 2-3 times doing something, not 2-3 dozen+ times ;/ (especially for simple FFXIV mechanics).
I could understand if it was wow doing endgame without a mod holding your had through 50 mechanic fight and warning you of every possible thing that may happen, but FFXIV is nowhere remotely that complex >.>
Thankfully, XI is still there for anyone who wants it.
For us, T7 wasn't super smooth until 2-3 weeks after first kill.
Feel bad for all y'all who have to deal with group drama. Most that can be said for my group so far is our WHM of 16 pre-2.2 T5 kills just up and bailed for IRL reasons, came back a week later and said he'd try to juggle IRL and game, I let him have T6 healing boots (still hadn't downed T7), next day he says "sorry quitting for real". And our tanks get catty with each other sometimes.
Like, this is the game for the foreseeable feature. Loots and Lockouts. I wish it could be a little less exclusionary but it's just how it is. Nothing for angry people to get super pissed about. If they do, they should probably play a game with less restrictions.
We actually cleared t6 on the 2nd week of release, did take us 3 weeks to down t7. But w/ new people all the time (hopefully the static is now perma) we keep having trouble on t6, a lot less trouble on t7. Lol
Complaint, i'm actually in this ffxiv facebook group that makes me lol pretty hard, cuz there are so many bads and i'm surprised i haven't been banned from it cuz i shit on people who never learn. This one i92 pld is trying to defend himself hardcore that wants to go full str and no vit attributes. I know it's not the meta and all, but holy shit if you don't want people to laugh at you by expecting to do coils w/ full str attribute points over vit, then fucking listen instead of being stubborn.
*edit* 3 weeks
FFXI was also much easier at least as far as learning mechanics goes. It was pretty much just a log watching game so you could hit your stun macro or put up new shadows. 90% of the time you were just standing there attacking or healing.
My biggest complaint with people in this game are those who need to "see every phase" in order to learn/clear something, people who are unable to adapt to new phases of fights as they happen as long as they know any instawipe mechanics going in, a la Twin phase 4/5. We we had like 8 wipes on Twin phase 5 before we beat it way back in November or whatever when the mechanics in that phase are easy as fuck if you have half a brain.
Savage Aim IV Materia had been at a steady 110-120k for weeks - months now. Last night I saw that there was like 20 of them selling for 100k and decided that I was going to penta meld a body. I was an idiot though and was going to save the task for this morning. Got up and overnight they are now selling for 270-300k and people are still buying the fucking shit! The full history page for overnight has sold for over 270k.
Along the same lines of market board stuff. I put an item up for sale yesterday at 90k. Looking at the history it has pretty much always sold for this price. Soon after I was undercut by a full 10k. No clue why the undercutting would go so low. Somebody undercut that person by 5k and the person that had undercut me in the first place undercut one again by 10k. Less then a day after me putting an item up for 90k There are now a few of those items selling for 20k.
I guess I just don't use the market board enough and am now finally starting to get frustrated with things that others have long gotten over.
XIV lacks events that encourage unit cohesion outside Coil so it's no surprise when people leave at the first sign of an annoyance when they have no real loyalty to the unit. This is something I hope Frontlines and other non-endgame events eventually address as this will affect ARRs retention on subs. For those that want to talk purely about dollars and cents. Competition between FCs should drive unit cohesion and keep people playing with eachother rather than just playing for what they want.
What I'd do just to have some events where you + FC mates can do something semi-casual that requires a group. Something like a spiritbind party but with monsters that pose a threat.
This game is one large exercise in one night stands and while you get what you want it feels hollow and empty.
Wait time estimates for ranged dps are worse than what they were before the "fix". I have this system of weekly reset where I do expert roulette, high level roulette, and the low level on a job that needs the challenge log weekly exp bonus. I do this yesterday and after waiting 35 minutes on a "15 minute avg wait time" I get a god damn Trial which doesn't count for challenge log. Requeue since I need the xp bonus on a low level job and can't do expert etc the next day. Six minute average wait, get to 30 minutes in the queue before I had to attend to some medical issues at home.
Game is super inconvenient at times.
I know what you mean man. These people have literally made my wife stop playing because it just isn't the same socially as FFXI was. People treat each other like shit in this game. You have people abandoning groups without a word, make you wonder if its something you have done. I feel bad for the new guys who want to watch CS only to be met with "you can watch that in the inn." There were a couple of instance where I join DF roulette and got titan. The WHM had more HP than the PLD did and just left. This WHM was fully stacked too. Not the fault of the PLD, he is probably new to the game. I really don't see the new guys stick around any more.
Reading this reminds me a lot of my time raiding in WoW. It was a never-ending revolving door of recruitment, working well for a few weeks/months/whathaveyou then someone bailing for whatever reason. If I had to harbor a guess, I'd line it up with there being no prerequisite for Coil? No farming triggers in Sky or Sea. No collecting Key Items from Abyssea. No real cost of entry besides "show up" or "show up after beating Twin." Watch a video online in your spare time and you're good to get running.
Enh, shit sucks. It's just what happens when content is accessible to everyone. Everyone will always think they can just shop around for a better set of people.
Out of all the ones that have left/quit or whatever this dude bothered me the most. Still bitter over that.
And totally agree on the people just fucking leaving or one person leaving and whole group disbands after killing something several times. So fucking infuriating trying to go back and get primal accessories or coil gear right now through PF. In the event the "farm party" actually wins without someone bitching out, getting more than 3 runs seems to be a fucking miracle these days.
