Coil is pretty much the extent of any major relationship troubles you'll have. If you just had a way to help people clear regardless of your progress there would be a lot less people bitter about shit.

Game needs more open world content definitely. Having to farm enemies for pop items to spawn an NM that drops good loot is fun and gives you the air of competition against other people. Right now literally the only competition is flaunting your epeen and going for server firsts. Having something similar to sky or sea gods would be great.
I know it's not the "cool" opinion to have around here but it is one of the things I loved about open-world HNM. Right now, as above said, there's no real competition between groups. Someone is going to get server first, everyone else isn't, and then nobody cares either way.
When Faffyhogg spawned once a day and you either got it or you didn't it created an "us vs. them" feeling for your LS vs. other LS. Now, the only competition for any gear / progress is within your own group, so if you're not very tight it can foster an "us vs. us" mentality, which fucking sucks. Definitely exists within PF groups.
Something to bond over, even if it was being a dick to people who weren't in your group, is good. I miss it.
I'm of the opinion that if your Coil static can't remain a static it's unlikely that more direct competition is going to fix it. They'll bounce to whoever is dominating you, regardless of what they're dominating you at.
Would really like to see this. Make some of the mobs extremely hard. It would be cool to atleast watch the top FCs in action. (not youtube)
I wouldn't care for 24/7 botting again like Fafhogg but a sky/sea like system would be cool. Shouts for BG popping AV v2.0 in Mor and people rushing out to watch like AV back in the day.
I actually like the server gatherings for Odin/behe, would be cool to have more of those. One of my favorite things in 11 was rushing to Tia/Khim/Cerb. I get some of that back when Odin/Behe spawns.
There needs to be more lvl 50 fates that are just tough ass boss fights, like gogo but on crack. Have it randomly drop a mat to golds that can make something good.
EDIT: only issue I see is the gridania underground bug, I've already seen people camping fates underground. Plus bots that can do it freely.
I'm aggravated they announced Fan fest, but didn't announce dates. How do I book a flight and hotels without dates SE?
The open world is way too small and the servers are way too overcrowded for any "open world" content of any significance to work.
Everything would just end up like Odin/Behe.
It's true, sadly treasure hunt style "open world content" is the best we can hope for. Otherwise if it drops anything remotely worth anything of value it will be 24/7 zerged by 100's of dudes spamming.
Got to say I'm actually enjoying this lack of a Coil static in a way right now. It's giving me time to do other things with my free time and I don't feel pressured to get into the game by 6:30pm after arriving home from work at 6. Problem is I'm also losing the motivation to play because I play these games for challenging content rather than the extra fluff. I logged in 5 hours ago and haven't moved from the retainer bell. Checked a few PFs to see what was up, did my daily roulettes and spent the rest of the night doing other stuff on the PC.
I think the idea that you need a static is what is breaking up FCs, creating situations where people constantly drop and seek greener grass etc. There needs to be more content that doesn't rely on lock outs that force a static group, kinda like the primal fights but harder. Fights where winning doesn't mean you can't help others in the FC or joining doesn't mean losing access to other fights for a week. Coil is badly designed and could be better in that respect.
The only open world content in 11 that was in fun were the beastmen invasions.
All the HNM and other shit can go fuck itself, I haven't had to write one hack for this game and I don't want to start that arms race again.
That being said, the coil lock out system can go fuck itself too. So much drama.
The lockouts really blow. I actually enjoy t6 and would love to do it more then once a week. I don't have a static so I've been PUGing it each week. A CT like loot lockout would be a great great change for me.
PF right now is:
Levi - maybe, never seen a mirror before but it could happen??
Moogle - incoming wipe
Coil v1 - capped on main gear, maybe gear an alt job? T5 = farm groups for first timers
Coil v2 - wish I could join all the 7/8 t6 runs, or maybe do t7 (only t8 shouts are for jobs I don't have i92+)
Brayfox - uggh
So its pretty much Dailies, Roulette for myth and random waste of time for alt jobs.
That's not true. If the open world HNMs are popped via items instead of FATES then they won't be anywhere near as crowded.
If you have content that's not time gated, but requires farming effort like sea/sky gods, then you don't need a static. Any seven people from your FC and a scrub with a pop item can go kill the mob. Or any combination of 24 choose 8 from your say, 3 coil groups, can do the content. It's much more lax than coil, where I couldn't go with fc group 1 when they were 7/8 to practice t9 because my group (2) was still trying to down t8.Party size is 8 people so you're going to have that issue with any Land/Sea/Sky Kings-style content too, which is why I don't think it matters.
People never fucking learn. Just had to ditch a T5 party because no one ever budged during fireballs/conflags, and we just kept wiping to that shit. Apparently I'm the one at fault for "having an attitude" by telling them that they have no chance to clear the fight if they can't pay even that token amount of attention. Oh yeah, and this was i92 minimum, which really does illustrate how laughable this game really is. You go and get your welfare gear and your echo buff and you just steamroll everything without having to put effort into learning stuff, then you go belly up and shit the bed the moment you need to put the slightest big of actual effort into things. Same thing happens when I join the "you must have cleared fifty million times before" "farm" parties. Everyone just seems to expect to get carried everywhere, or otherwise just durdle until they eventually get what they want.
Yeah, yeah, "just hit up your FC" but mine's ultra cliquish and people no intention of helping those outside the cool kids club. I really should find a new one at some point, but nothing but my own laziness to blame there.
The only "T5 farm" that seems to exist on Balmung is one which involves Twin farming the players. Nearly every PUG I've gone into for T5 has a combination of: terrible healers, terrible dps, mediocre tanks, or people that can't pay attention for twisters/divebombs. What's even worse is that groups who state, "2 strikes" as a rule and then don't have the spine to actually act on said rule.
Unfortunately, the people I'd prefer to farm T5 with don't have much of an incentive to, because of new coil and the lockout system. Being able to switch to any class is pretty much pointless unless your group wants a 5th dps for Turn 8 or you're still looking for a static and are willing to be more flexible on the role you play. I'd love to get a chance to heal some of the new coil turns for fun, but unfortunately lockouts mean I don't have much of an opportunity to do that and won't for nearly 5 more months.
Seriously SE, give me a damn reason to level and gear other classes besides staving off boredom.
Not enough high quality sexy miqo'te models to go to FFXI!
As much fun as open world NM/HNM's would be fun, if they actually dropped something use "only to the winning party" expect some griefing, either in MPK format or by trying to steal aggro and resetting it.
I've seen it happen plenty of times in the FFXI world, and the few times wow had it before they were like "nope, no more open world bosses, too many complaints!", and tera.. and bunch of other MMO's.
Its why SE (when I was playing Lv75 cap) moved most things to a rng BCNM, and made NM/HNM type stuff trivial to do >.>
Don't get me wrong though, it was fun to see malboro/spiders all over niddhogg and 100+ bodies all over the place, or the charm boss at night on tiamat wrecking havok, and people killing each other over sky/sea NM's and trying to steal kirin. The drama days were fun
Or soloing NM's on BST and having people pretty much try to steal everything. Not that I had my guard down very often to let it happen. With high traffic stuff though (e.g. Abyssea) you had to constantly be on your toes.and people killing each other over sky/sea NM's and trying to steal kirin.
From memory Tiamat created the most drama on Alex, mostly between us and "Claimed". heh.
Sadly, I can only perform one of those roles myself. :/
Also people getting eaten alive by twisters/divebombs is the rule. It's every party. I have never once not seen at least one person die to the first twister. Even odds that the first DK will get a kill, too. I mean, I'm fine with a person taking the odd hit. Shit happens. But once is an accident, and twice is a pattern.
Also also, looking at your name, I think I was in a party with you earlier, so... yeah, you should know what I mean here. If I remember right, you left before I did, and if that's the case... that party got even worse (people wouldn't even move for conflags, so 2-3 people would get conflagged at once) and yet I was the one with the "attitude" for telling them they had zero chance of clearing and dropping.
