So, for about 9 hours last night, people were buying lightning shards from the market board for 100+ a piece. The highest was 160 i believe. As of this morning, it has gone back down to about 80g per shard which is still ridiculous. Also, tomes reset about 30 min ago and I was still expecting an 11am reset.

Not a good start to the day

They're personal interpretations, sure, but I'd say we've got a pretty decent picture of the type of player he is. It's not like the "It's my 12.95" crowd hasn't existed for years and years and years.

What you're talking about is part of the problem. He could have been carried through to Bravura? Possible. He's also being carried through CT. It's only a matter of time until that's the tank joining EX parties or Coil groups and bitching the game is too hard. Giving them a pass because there's 5 other tanks is the worst possible attitude you can take, since it still allows someone like that to progress. Toss me into the elitist category because I'm with Raldo: That sort of behavior needs to be intolerable, not ignored.

A friend of mine was doing Satasha yesterday with a GLD tank who not only wouldn't flash, but after being prompted to by the party, politely, would not use flash. At all. You kick that sort of player. If you can't do your job, you should be excluded. If you can't learn, you shouldn't be carried.

This. I had a healer in WP for book the other day, let me die on 9 mobs (i95 WAR). So I said okay, I'll split up the pulls. They then let me die to goobbue + 1 pugil (he got in somehow). I'm sorry, I don't care if learning, new, playing 1-handed while in a wheelchair, if you can not cure someone with almost 10,000 HP using a Thyrus you need to go back and learn your job more.

Vote kicked them, it passed swiftly, I was happy. We continued on as a trio without a healer for about 3 minutes moving at literally the exact same pace we were going at with them healing.

Hmm? I haven't noticed any particular problem with my damage output compared to, say, Titan X. Time your casts appropriately, abuse Aetherial Manipulation (great for handling Floral Trap in both briared and briarless methods), save CDs for bursting bulbs/bees/slugs, etc. I'm not going to claim BLM is optimal for T6 - it's not - but it's not bad and certainly not bad enough to exclude BLMs from your T6 party (which I'm starting to see in PF groups).

Who are "these players"? We're not talking about good players who started late and therefore "missed the boat" on gearing up with everyone else. I have no problem with those players; hell, most of the time I probably assume it's some veteran's alt. We're not even talking about bad (perhaps "inexperienced" is a better word here) players who want to become better. As long as they're willing to take instruction, I don't mind if my roulette takes longer than normal, and I feel I'm doing my part to lessen the amount of stupidity in our world.

We're talking about the terribads, who don't know and/or don't care that they're bad, who won't take instruction on how to become better, and who at best are a waste of a party slot and at worst are actively harmful to the group. The problem is that some of them have been carried far enough that they are starting to show up as the one or two randoms my FC gets when we don't have enough online for a full party. I'm sorry, but by the time a player gets to Extreme Primals and Turn 4+ of Coil, there's a certain expectation about skill level, and if he doesn't meet that expectation, it's not my FC's job to make up for it. So he gets kicked and replaced, sometimes unceremoniously, sometimes with a lot of rancor. My time is limited and I choose not to waste it on idiots.

Relax, we are talking about CT, not Titan EX, not BC T 1-7, but CT.. What you say is again a big paragraph full of interpretation.

Also, no one is proud of their ring, he just said that "he likes them" because they allow him to enter CT, Its not like he made a big argument on how his gear is better than anything else.

You don't know he may have though that he could tackle CT with the minimum iLv requierment wearing a bunch of cheap craps because it was his 1st time.

Also telling them that they are gimp/They are wearing crap/They are a waste is not going to produce anything productive at all.

People may feel the need to do that because they have some RL issues or anger management problems "oops i'm giving my own interpretation!" but its not the way, especialy not in DF.

In the end my point is plain & simple, if you go to Derpy Finder don't complain about someone else gear & don't be rude to them. Your choice for registering in the DF.

Yes we are, especialy since that guy said it himself "I use this ring to meet the iLv requierment..." He will learn and might become better/worse than an average good player.

Raldo has a point, he showed him that if he is only willing to give the minimum he has to do it right by wearing the right pieces of crap, now the way it was said was wrong sorry.

lol, more analysis on this than I expected to see when I returned.

Here's another complaint in a similar vein for you. I queued DF for Garuda EX on my BLM to try to get my hands on the caster ring. Got a terrible party (expected, so I generally keep my mouth shut since other people were vocal about identifying where things went wrong), but they kept screwing up so bad but I couldn't get a majority YES to my abandon duty attempts, arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh

I was mainly pointing out how bad the average BLM is. The 254 I pulled out was on BLM while he could barely tap 160 with no deaths. I still feel 250 is low, but it's something that takes practice

There's a lot in the post to refute, but I'm just going to pick this one.

That is exactly the wrong behavior to be enforcing. It's not different than trying to dive into PF groups without having seen videos or knowing strats, too. It's the inherently selfish "I've never done it, everyone else's enjoyment be damned" mentality that should be snuffed out. He could have bought properly-statted 49 accessories and no one would care. His choice to wear the wrong stats just show willful ignorance of not giving a fuck what he is expected to do, which is baaaad in a game where you play with 23 other people.

Not sure why I'm having to explain this to anyone, though.

I'm sorry, you can't just wave your hands and say "it's all interpretation!" and count that as a valid argument, at least not with me. And what I'm saying is relevant, because yes, it might be Crystal Tower today and doesn't really matter to the group's success or lack thereof. But that permissive attitude, as Lyall, Sath & Co. point out, is what leads to bad players in EX and BC tomorrow.

I don't care if a melee shows up to CT with exactly ilvl 50 gear, as long as it is appropriate for his job. I do care if melee shows up to CT with mage rings just so he can get into CT sooner, because this is going to be the same person who later on shows up to primals with Darklight mage rings, to later BC turns with whatever mix of accs he can get his hands on, etc.

And as someone who does all 5 myth-yielding roulettes each day for those God-damned books, I have seen everything from total idiocy to unexpected brilliance (it does happen) in the DF. My expectations are calibrated for each one: in the low-level roulette, anything goes; I'm prepared to 3-man most of them if I have to with only the minimum of complaint; I'm also prepared to teach if needed. Even in the expert roulette, I don't expect speedruns (although if you attempt it, I will then expect you to know what you're doing). If you think I'm the person who bitches that a full-run Brayflox takes 11 minutes instead of 10, sorry, I'm not that person.

lol, y'all make me wish I screenshotted our little CT banter. There's more lines of text analyzing this than were even spoken in that CT. Our little bitch fit only lasted the amount of time it took between Acheron wipes.

I will certainly keep it in mind that I should probably be... gentler next time I encounter something like that, and I probably shouldn't have waited until the end of the run to flip my shit rather than perhaps bringing it up when I first noticed it (Bone Dragon wipe #1).

I have certain expectations of people that have completed relics (albeit, rather low expectations at this point in the game), and he was so far under those expectations it was embarrassing. This was the 2nd time I'd seen him in Crystal Tower, so how he managed to still be so shitty, I have no idea. Also, doesn't Titan (HM) have a higher iLv req. than Crystal Tower? How did he even get his Bravura without acquiring ANY dungeon/myth/soldiery gear? Ugh.

In case anyone's super curious, the CT run had 2x Bone Dragon wipes, 1x Atomos wipe, 1x Bomb arena wipe, 2x Behemoth wipes, and 1x Acheron wipe. I wasn't exactly feeling very patient at the end of that run, heh. There was plenty more stupid going on in that run than just that one tank. Also, that shit WAR insisted that we do a ready check before every encounter, and would pitch a fit whenever we didn't.

I don't do CT anymore because I am utterly incapable of ignoring people who do things like this. I just can't. I shouldn't let it wind me up but it does. The only time I go (if ever) now is to help a friend. I absolutely refuse to go on my own anymore because of things like this.

I appreciate that not everyone started last year and that people are making the rational choice to jump to grabbing CT gear if they can. I get that. I get that there's a whole wave of people hitting CT from the PS4 launch. But I simply can't handle people who don't even try or think that spirit bonding is an effective use of everyone else's time. I always end up booting people when I DO go....

So for my blood pressure and probably other people's sanity, I don't go anymore >.>

XD, even tho I take things with a slightly different approach than most of you because god knows what is worse than a bunch of lolworthy players in CT, I really enjoy the exchanges here lol. I can not disagree with the latest statements, It is true that they might show up in BC T1+ with the wrong gears in order to meet the minimum iLv.

What bugged me the most in all of this is the "He had a bravura.." & its what validate my "interpretation" argument. It is proven that any begginer can have an relic even by wearing AF1, hell I saw a WAR like that in DF once, Animus Bravura full AF1 with Lv47 Accessories. The guy probably got hyper lucky and saved all of his myth for Zeniths & books, I checked his info & he had only MRD50 GLA15, all the rest was locked.

Quote Originally Posted by Lyall View Post

It is different, because we're talking about Duty Finder, SE did not specify that the player have to wear the right gears in order to enter a raid via DF, they just specified an iLv. People are going to abuse it as much as the tanks use to abuse the "Queue in progress" option when CT 1st came out.

Quote Originally Posted by Lyall View Post

Yes but again, the way you enjoy the game is different from the way I enjoy it or how the 1st peasant you come across enjoy it. Some people like to watch a video to try and do everything perfectly on their 1st run, or to show some outstanding skills while other like to try new things with more experienced people, it does not mean that they are looking to get carried. This is what make the DF really unfair to both sides of the argument and why both side should use the DF more as a peace field then anything, to not put expecations on the 3-7 others, and to use the PF for their own buisness.

I agree with you, but again maybe he's broke after buying the 2-3 pieces of millitia shit he was wearing. When I finished the story line I had 500k gils out of quest, random DJ gears sales and shits, but on the side I got myself fed up with fates & I paid very little gears because of the GC seals I had, it was my "interpretation" on how to do things well from the begining, maybe he didn't think alike.
Still, it does not excuse anyone to talk to them badly as it will not make anything productive in the end, especialy when the person did nothing very good or incredibly bad.

As for me, I am not invalidating anyone's opinion as I do respect your experiences, I just try to give you a different approach to that kind of problems

@ Raldo: Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you are 100% in the wrong, just that it was too late/unecessary to coment the way you did lol.
Now really and honestly, is that kind of player worth you giving a fuck about them? Especialy when they are not the absolute cause of every wipes that happened. From what you say he was not worth your time ya? So why do you even give him so much consideration? Even if he was the very baddy bad everyone think he was, wasn't it better to let him leave with the donkey hat?

I guess we're just seeing the difference between pessimism and optimism here. I won't tolerate that sort of bullshit when I'm playing a game to ostensibly have fun, and as a result will probably die years earlier than you. I don't care what his reasons are, or how new he is, or how he managed to get whatever he's got. Either show up prepared or don't show up, it's that simple to me. It's the most selfish thing you can do in this game to expect others to pick up your slack.

If he spent all of his gil, he should be doing easy things to make more. There's plenty of ways to make some scratch to get NQ i49 jewelry, and it isn't wrong of anyone to expect the barest of baseline fundamentals when it comes to an MMO. That goes back to what I'm saying about the behavior being selfish. You can phrase it is "enjoying the game differently" but there's some basic fundamentals that should be in play here. There IS such a way as enjoying something incorrectly, and basically any time someone reverts to the "well it's my 12.95" attitude they are wrong, fullstop.

This totaly depend of the person who's playing, its frustrating I know, but sadly no one have control over this.

More like that kind of stuff is trivial to me because I saw much worse in game or in RL, but thats my story, we all have one. Now if Raldo was saying the exact same thing about an EX Primal or Coil I'd totaly agree with him as it would be unacceptable for the 7 others.

But CT, its like a breeding field for trolls & beginners to get acces to the minimum standards (not saying Raldo is one).. & SE enforced this idea with what they did last patch.. soon to see the echo there too cause CT is too hard.

I'm all for helping the little man grow bigger but I'm with Raldo. In his particular case, that dude didn't care about learning how to play and wasn't even considerate about his party/alliance. Probably one of the worst jobs you can choose to play in the start of damn near every mmo is a tank class. If your tank sucks everybody is miserable and usually always overly critical of your performance. One of the worst experiences I had when I first started playing FFXI was going to sky as PLD/WAR is Adaman armor. Nobody wanted my ass until I figured my shit out. Granted, I was like 13 at the time but the concept is the same. Same can be said for the healers too, but if you're a DPS worst case is the fight drags on unless you're in one of the very few high dps check fights
