Fucking Coil2 RNG makes me rage. Our group´s drops so far have been nothing but healing, casting and fending.

MUST BE NICE. We're in the Fending Coil of Bahamut again as well. Just Fending with a bunch of aiming/slaying. We did get 3 drg drops for the first 3 turns yesterday, which I suppose for most people would be awful, but considering our drg's awful luck in Coil1 I can abide it.
Sure would like some healing jewelry tho
Considering we have 2 melee DPS (me MNK and a DRG) it´s starting to become really frustrating. It´s not like we NEED the gear to overpower T9 and we oneshot 6-8 anyway but some kind of reward would be nice.
So my complaints about the market board continue.
The market on all the new gear is mostly controlled by the same 5 dudes. They put up 1 item of every item in the game and replenish their wares every time an item sells. On average you'll see 5 of any one 3star item on the MB at a time. This is all fine and works well for them. The part thats killing me is that these guys have been selling a majority of the MB items since 2.2 launch and all they do is undercut each other all day. I can't imagine that anyone is really winning these undercut wars, and I would think differently if they are undercutting to push new crafters out of the market. But I can only imagine 2 delis that are on opposite corners of the street undercutting each other all day even though they get (presumably) equal foot traffic. Is it that unreasonable to have the 20% chance that your item out of the 5 possible items sells first? Is it better to undercut down to 20k off the original price for the chance that a passerby notices that good deal and snatches it before the next guy undercuts? (next guy being the only other guy on the entire server that even sells this item. not some random schmuck)
I hope they add sands of oil/time to ct2. Good job for anyone that's successfully farming coil2 but gating the strongest available gear behind it sucks for anyone still trying to beat it, let alone coil1. Even if they made it so that you can buy oil/time for soldiery it would help
Not to mention that gear is mostly useless if you aren't planning to clear T9 soon.
Casual non-coil players don't need i110 gear. It does literally nothing for them.
They cando moar dmg to Ifrit before eruptions get them
As a casual, currently non-coiling character I wholeheartedly agree. If I'm not raiding, I don't need raid gear. I'm tired of there not being a way to gauge a player's ability outside of High Allagan / Unweathered. Putting the entire population in i110 gear to make them feel better about themselves is only going to make the next round of EXes even more infuriating.
Im taking coil 2 pretty slow, my static just started but I have to say I wish there was some reason to want the gear it drops. In my current i96 gear I feel I can go all the way to t9 with ease. There needs to be some reason to want the gear imo. Not just, "yay now I can beat farm mode stuff easier now"
Isn't that always going to be the case though? Following that logic, if the best weapons drop from the hardest content (last turn of coil), then you were able to complete that content without them. If you could do that, why do you need/want the weapons, why are you playing an mmo, oh god why do we do anything in life, etc.
Oh yeah definitely, I think the treadmill is just getting to me but also I just wish there was something else challenging. Be it a solo quest, hard treasure mobs, idk something. Turn 9 should also had some stiff requirements to make you feel like you NEED the gear, a lot of people probably wont agree but at least that would make you feel like it's actually helping.
When it was cleared with an avg ilvl of probably around 91 I can't say I disagree, but we get back into the same conversation we've had 50,000 times. FFXI is that way, WoW is over there, play FFXIV for FFXIV, blah blah.
Yes, we currently clear stuff just to clear it. The worse you are at the game the more stuff you have to do. My static still needs to clear T8, so we have some time ahead of us / things to work towards. If you've cleared T9 3 times already and are on your way to maxing out on coil 2 drops then you'll probably be down to 1-2 days of playtime per week again until 2.3 (probably 2.4 because lolct).
Pray frontlines doesn't suck and the content they have planned for expansion is wildly different.
True, think I am also just salty at how slow my group has been to do anything so I am trying to rationalize. At least it leaves us with things to do, frontlines CT and Novus quest should all be pretty cool anyway.
I don't do coil at all, sold gear is plenty for me. I'm not salty about the best gear being gated behind the best content - that's the way it should be. I object to current content in 2 ways: 1) I would like something to do with my FC that isn't locked into a 4 person or 8 person number. Something where if 7 of us show up or 17 of us show up, we can all do without people getting left out. In FFXI sky days, it was farming pops and then popping gods (Genbu, etc). I don't do anything with my FC cause I craft and gather and do roulette for tomes. Honestly, for the way I play, I don't even need a FC. I would like that to change. 2) I wish they would change the coil lockout so it was related to gear. Make it with same rules as 2.1 CT. Go as much as you want, can only get 1 drop (per turn?) a week. I know the concern would be that a group of 6 or 7 could just power through another 10 people in the same week and get 10x the drops that way, but so what? It's a MMO, I want to do things with other people.
