In turn, not finding that magic guild/FC, having an unreliable schedule, or simply not enjoying sitting in queues to run the same shit designed for the no-lifers over and over gets old pretty quick. Once a dev can get over hurting the feelings of the sub-10% and develop some challenging open-world content on top, the whole, "Well, you don't need that gear!" rhetoric can go out the window and instead people could gear up via how they'd like to play. If it's with a bunch of other folks at set times, swell. If it's at your own pace, cool. Mix and match? All good.

The whole MMO caste system thing that's been going on for years is pretty much why so much content is dead within weeks of release. What's the point of leveling crafts if drops are always better? Why spend time in the world when all the good shit is tucked away in instances? Why have an economy when all the good stuff is bound? I'm sure some would be quick to blame RMT for all those things, but that's not it. Seems more like if others don't suffer the same way they have through gameplay, then they simply don't deserve to progress. I guess the eventual irony is that championing to hold people back is also what makes the public environment worse. Would think XI taught most of us that shit players will be shit regardless of gear. Meanwhile, the good ones just fall through the cracks because RNG, a little social luck, and time doesn't favor them.
Exactly how I feel about the current state of the game.

I can't be arsed for a Coil static for reasons mentioned by others in this very topic, but it is the only way to get i110 gear. Hardest content giving best gear? Fine, but best gear locked in 1 event I find simply utter shit in its setup of providing rewards and needing 7 good people? Not fine. Going for mediocre was never my thing, but it is the only option I am given by SE. No matter how fuckin casual I play, might take me months but as long as I see progress each time I log in to get the gear I want, it's all good.

Yep. I'm sure some are sick of me being broken record on the subject, too. I can think of one person off the top of my head. In the end, raid content should simply be the fastest route, not the only one. Plus I still think strict time gating is fucking dumb with the whole all-on-one job system. :/

    Yup.

Also, I find it not only dumb for the all-on-one job system, but also for the fact the shit gets outdated each 6 months, even if the hardcore folks go 5/5 on full gear sets in those 6 months thanks to no time gating, who the fuck cares? Kudos for your commitment, my casual ass only got 1 or 2 sets and now we can both start again for the new ilvl.

I'm not against time gating because everyone would be i100 within a week of the patch if you could farm soldiery unlimited, but the current system is definitely retarded. Why not time gate it based on job? IE each job can get 450 soldiery per week and the tomes would be set specific.

I think you grossly overestimate how many "everyone" would actually be, but that's okay, such is the common doom and gloom rhetoric about the idea. As App said, though, even if the hardcore grinded the fuck out of everything between the patch cycles, the more laid back folks won't be anywhere close. And this gap will only widen as more jobs hit the game.

How hard would it be to run Brayflox x12 a day for a week to get a full set of i100 gear if soldiery were uncapped? That's what, 2-3 hours a day? Even a casual could find the time to do half that rate and that is way faster than SE wants to hand out gear. It makes Coil 1-5, old extremes and crafted i90 irrelevant straight away. But they need to find a solution to make it viable to play more than 1-2 jobs.

Coil static is probably dead; probably going to have to teach people how to do Twintania if I try and rebuild it again, ontop learning the second set of Turns and hoping people don't bail and things implode again. Or maybe I should just say fuck it for 2.2. It's so frustrating to keep a reliable static of 8 people for this shit. Oh well, I bet no Fending gear was going to drop anyway. /fox_and_the_grapes

I just ended up quitting the game altogether.

Despite absolutely hating many of the design choices the devs decided to take with the game, I stuck around because I loved my static members. Once 2.2 hit, people either started to lose interest or had RL obligations to take care of, so we lost three of our more competent members. We tried replacing them with various FC members, but it was a total fucking disaster—especially T7, where apparently, turning around when you have voice is too fucking complicated for people to understand. Had to tell the rest of my static that I couldn't put up with the shit anymore and left.

We need more variable member content, not static content. XI content was great to me because you could have 2-X number of people for all the things you'd do even if the cap on a lot of things was 18, there was still ways others could help. Maps were a good direction in this except 1-8 still isn't variable enough. 1-24 man content would be perfect.

If you think more 24-man content would be great you should go do Crystal Tower right now. Most people seem to have a hard enough time finding 7 not-retarded people. Finding 23 other people with an IQ above room temperature (centigrade) is next to impossible. No fucking thank you.

More 24 man content you can queue for as a group.

Reading comprehension. I didn't say pure 24 man content. I said variable content that can be done with 1 TO 24 people. Content for Free Companies that doesn't need a static number.

I do wish Coil could be low-manned..

Just from a manpower and scheduling standpoint, it'd work out so much better. It's been difficult to find people who work out and round out the 2-3 people we seem to perpetually wind up needing because they think it's cool to peace out and not tell us you quit while we message and text you like tards. And now work schedules changing pretty much shut this shit down for us, which is infuriating.

Critical thinking. There is no alliance mechanism outside Crystal Tower and even if there were, what purpose would content that can be done by one person or twenty four people with varying levels of lead consumption during infancy serve? If content with 24 people sucks (because let's not pretend you or 90% of the people on this forum know 23 people capable of the rudimentary autonomy required to succeed at anything remotely difficult) why introduce it? What would it even consist of? How would drops be distributed? If I could do it with 8 people or less, why would I bring 16 other people?

XI had variable content insofar as it was technically possible to enter most instances with more than 6 people. Did you do Salvage with 7+? Or did you enter with the bare minimum necessary like most every other rational person? That's how everything in XI worked: enter with the bare minimum required for success so you're not splitting the 1/100000000000 drop with more people for no reason. Removing the minimum party size from T1-5 may allow some people the ability to run turns with six or seven (but anyone capable of this really has no reason to do so) but that creates more instances and the servers are hardly stable as they currently are.

If it needs 24 people to be done, it will be a clusterfuck of stupidity that I want no part in. If it's doable with less, it will always be done with less, which defeats the purpose. Unless that purpose is to allow more idiots the chance to screen capture the genocide of braincells and post it to reddit.

Alliance out of CT as well as the ability to queue for CT with a 24 man premade is a confirmed feature of 2.3.

An alliance system can and is being added.. and he didn't say 24 man content. He said 1-24.

Exactly why the current time gating is dumb. It takes 3 months to gear a job in soldiery gear. So before the gear is outdated you can gear 2 jobs. It's like they made a double failsafe in case their 6 month patch got delayed and that we might 'abuse' the time it is delayed to gear jobs. It's ridiculous.

And I don't know about you, but since 2.2 hit, I haven't been in old extremes or coil 1-5, except for 1 hour or so getting a t5 clear so I could help the FC explore t6. In my book that old content is already irrelevant.

Dynamis was actually a good example of how variable content could be done during it's infancy before people were able to steamroll it with gear/levels. The more people you had, the more enemies you could kill and more paths you could explore. If you had a minimum amount of people for instance, you'd only have enough time to take out Dynamis Lord before you were going to be short on time. Add some more people then you'd be able to go farm a couple weapon fragments right after.

And echoing how shitty the Coil system is implemented. So many things are irksome that cause issues within the playerbase that doesn't have 8 people without scheduling conflicts. I also still don't see the reason why you completely get locked out of lower turns when joining a higher Turn either.

What people want is an event that is FC based and not instanced.

4-24+ people can help, join and leave as time allows. Bored on wednesday morning, see who's on to go farm some pop items for a HNM etc. That is what made Sky good content and content that could be improved upon with the same principles.

    Monday: Farm pops
    Tuesday: Kill lessor NMs
    Wednesday: Kill HNM

9 people from the FC on? Make a party of 5 and 4. 12 people on 8 and 4 or 6 and 6 etc. When it comes to the NMs everyone can atleast watch with 8 killing at a time. Farm 5-6 pops rotate people in and out.

    Thats a true FC event.
