Ya, thank god I finished my animas before casuals started to get on it. I got to do all my fates alone, except for 4 winds which I asked help on.

They're treating your ability to clear said content as a tangible good in and of itself. Does it really pose such an affront to their special snowflake sensibilities if you can, you know, play with all of your friends? Who the fuck cares if you get people who are good enough to clear shit gear from Turns 6-9, even if they'd be fucked over under the current system?
Thankfully our bots had a nice loud alarm sound to wake us up when faf actually spawned.
DF Turn 4.
First Dreadnaught spawns, only eats 2 spiders. Tank pulls it to the center of the room. 2 spiders beating on the WHM. He runs over with them when Dread is at ~50%, so full heal.
Wave 4 drops. Dread eats 2 more spiders, full heal. Dread eats another spider, full heal. Dread eats another spider.
Tank: "dps sucks"
lol
FC group lost a Sands tonight by accident. Why the fuck is there still no master looter option?
No idea how quatermastering someone would solve that kind of stupidity.
"Do I have my shit yet? No? Better not leave then."
People who logout in an instance trying to get someone else to eat the 30 minute penalty, after openly declaring they're done with this and taking a break.
Fuck you.
I was doing T1 with 3 members of my FC (me blm, 1 mnk, 1 brd, 1 whm), we all need to gear up secondary jobs. After 30 mins of unsuccessful PF we decide to DF it...
The war was new to it and poorly geared (lvl 49 rings etc...), he didn't say anything. As a result we wipe on ADS because he didn't know he had to take the adds. We finally kiled it on 2nd attempt with A LOT of difficulty (ADS ate one add and such...).
PLD decided to sac for us to kill the golem, everything was right on the first sac, the war tanked the golem.
PLD went to sac again, but the war didn't know there was actually two golems, so he went back to the entrance overpowering trashs... After he died we told him about the 2nd golem. So he tanked it... made it face the whole party... wipe... Finally we killed the golem and reached Caduceus.
So PLD tries to explain the fight to the WAR and tells him to not forget shield oath, yeah... SHIELD OATH!
We wiped twice and decided to log out for the night...
I'm sure this has been griped about plenty, and while I don't have a ton of MMO experience..
It just feels like people are *terrible* at this game. There is a chronic inability of a lot of people to analyze a fight and genuinely realize what went wrong. Been trying to do Titan EX for weeks in PF and DF (not even to clear! Just for the Rowena tokens thing) and no luck.
Even with these elitist PF "ilvl91, experts only", I feel like one of 2 people in the fight that can actually dodge crap consistently (and I wasn't always that great at it).
That and the people who love to levy criticism, yet (referencing the above) have no understanding of the fight, nor any suggestions to improve. I get not wanting to educate people all the time (I mean fuck, I do that for a living, so I get it), but just griping, then sitting there and participating still, yeah.
Funniest was doing a Levi EX the other day with a new BLM (apparently the party leader brought him along, since he's a guy stationed in Kuwait with limited playtime). Some DRG goes "dude, stop dying."
Moments later, he's thrown off the boat.
I think the "casual" PS4 crowd must be starting to reach level 50, because God damn my roulettes are filled with nothing but new people (as in "Mapping the Realm: <insert dungeon name here>" new) these days. I don't mind educating someone who's willing to learn, but I can't get 3 naifs through Copperbell Hard at once.
I was hoping my Animus would be done before this happened, but alas, it looks like it is not to be...oh well, only 1500 myth, 160 enemies, 6 dungeons, 5 FATEs and 3 levequests to go. :/
The people whose corpses were dragged across the finish-line in titan ex by the echo have finally made it to leviathan ex, on Siren.
I was SCHing a PF for a "farm" that saw zero phase skips and late spawning adds (yes it's possible) that still insisted that DPS was good because we were seeing "weird phase changes." There were no phase skips or changes, you all just collectively suck that hard. Among the jems in the party was a BRD who kept shooting themselves dead from locking on to the head, a PLD who can't Rage of Halone the tail, and a bunch of other individuals who blamed their deaths on lag.
I'm seriously scared to enter PFs anymore.
yeah i keep wanting to go into T5 pugs to try and get the mnk body, but now i'm kind of resigned to the idea that most are godawful no matter the ilvl requirement.
prob just better off buying saurian body and melding the shit out of it. too bad it's gonna cost me almost all my gil
Blogshit inc.
This game hasn't even been out for a year yet but I feel like so much has already happened. I knew when I started this game I needed to be a healer, because I know that people who main healers generally end up having an easier time finding success if they can do well at it as opposed to letting someone else do it (coupled with how much I know most people hate being a main healer).
I was WHM main when 2.0 started, then we picked up someone under the idea that he might want to switch to SCH (Spoiler: He didn't want to at all). So instead of running double WHM I made the switch because my brain can't handle massive inefficiency like that. Ended up learning to love the job, so it worked out. We slowly had people burn out and quit the game, basically leaving us to rebuild from four of the originals who started the group (including myself). The other half of some of our strong founding members ended up in our second group. Both groups were basically equal in skill and accomplishment, and I never had to worry about them. However, they too had their share of issues just like we did with burn out.
2.1 had no real content, so until we found a suitable healer replacement I played whatever, but in the end we found a SCH so I made the switch back to WHM for when 2.2 dropped. Fast forward to our recent Turn 9 downing, and it seems like just as we kill it about 3 people in both of our main groups declare they're burned out.
We always had a back up plan of merging the two groups back together because the original four from both have always been strong players and very into the game at all times, but it was supposed to be a nuclear holocaust contingency plan. Ended up having to decide between having two groups slowly implode from people burning out/being frustrated with the game in general or trying to get ahead of it and merge the groups instead. I made the call to merge because I felt it was best.
I guess my real complaint is, no matter what it seems like I can't "main" jobs like most people can, lol. Now I'm back to Scholar, and I had just gotten my High Allagan WHM Weapon and all my soldiery gear had been WHM focused (Yagrush and general shit SCH would never buy). Orz.
Maybe you guys can enlighten me on this, because I'm even seeing it in this very thread. Every day hear people complaining about pugs for primals and coils. Most of the people say they are good at all the content, its just the groups that screw them over. I believe the best way to describe them are good players looking for a group as good as them.
However, I ask them why they aren't doing these fights with their FC instead. Why join a PF group that has a high chance of failure when you're in a FC that can do it? The majority of people either dont have more than 4 members online in their FC at a time or their FC can't/won't do it with them for whatever reason.
I ask these people why they don't leave their FC to join one to help them progress through the game. 99% of them say they won't leave for whatever reason. Some of them are even a group of family members or rl friends where 100% of the FC (5 members total) are them. Why not just bring your entire group to a nice FC and not have to rage about PF anymore(best case scenario)? Still, they don't want to.
And this is what I don't understand. Maybe you're invested heavily into FC housing, I understand that. Maybe your FC name is from launch and is really unique/funny and noone has an alt that can hold the name, I can understand that too. Maybe you're part of some weird triangle where you aren't exactly friends with the leader, but your friend/spouse/sibling is, so its too awkward for you to leave without your friend/spouse/sibling. But other than those 3 reason, I don't understand why people won't leave their current group when someone offers them. :\
I would imagine that this hypothetical FC has no interest in running coils/primals because it's old outdated crap they have no use for outside of gearing up alt classes.
I could certainly ask my very capable FC to help me gear up my BLM that I just started gearing 2 weeks ago, but fuck if I'm going to bother 7 other people to help me gear up my BLM just so I can farm myth faster. I'm up to i86 all through DF/PF, so I can't complain. Just need belt/ring and I'll be i90.
Okay I guess I didnt think about people who are already above the average. FC is too good to do the content that seems to be the worst to get through in PF. I think i'd rather risk annoying people in my own FC than breaking my keyboard because someone ninja lot a turn 2 enrage drop lol
Echoing Raldo. Also even though I get annoyed at sub-par people in PF and DF but it's only really impossibly frustrating for stuff like 2.1 Extremes where nobody outside a handpicked group can reliably do it anymore. For every coil DF/PF with dumb behavior I get, I still get plenty of smooth ones (sometimes in the very group I'm complaining about).
More just "echo is allowing bad pugs to be carried" gripes than "my life is miserable".
Well FC's are glorified statics atm, at least a lot of them are. So if your FC is like mine we can maybe do non coil stuff with half a group maybe once or twice a week. So I am left to PF everything, luckily Excal pug's are not that bad. I have got about 6 t5 weapons across two characters and most non-Titan groups are passable. Does the dps suck? Do the Dragoons still die? Yes, of course but it gets the job done.
On the topic of bad new players, it really is an epidemic and it's sad. Leveling an alt Dragoon lately and I have seen it all in such a short time. Bliz III blm's, Titan egi SMN's and my favorite the mages ballad bards. I stepped into the derpcroft and the tank just face pulled mobs, let the run loose to the healer lost aggro all within two pulls. I said fuck it and tanked the whole dungeon SR style (except the last boss which I sat there for a good 5 gcd's and still almost took hate) on my Dragoon. I almost died like three times but it was worth it.
I really wish there was a DPS gauge in game, I wish people could see how bad they are and what actual dps looks like. Nothing aggravates me more than shit dps, especially bards and blm's. The job is so simple, I am not asking for some fine tuned scale busting dps. I just want people to know how the fuck to play.
