WRT the future of the game i have to agree. that this lunch table business keeps coming up over and over again in conversation worries me. my group is pretty tight and we try to keep people involved, but it's pretty clear you can't cater to everyone. and as such it's hard to keep those bonds tight cause over time people keep getting cut out of the new content.

and what's worse is personally i've already reached the point where it's like: ok now we're just farming coil to farm coil faster. like i tried for a bit yesterday and some time today to start farming atma for a second animus, but about 2 hours in i hit that breaking point of disgust. it's just not happening and the tiger fists can't grow bright enough or do enough damage for me to want them anymore. when you're at the end of content you're at the end and new toys don't do a whole lot for you.

You guys are forgetting that this is the company that won't let us send Tells in dungeons so people don't get harassed and was resistant to even put in Vote Kick. It's extremely unlikely they will put in a damage %/parse/recount whatever so people can see what their damage was at the end of a dungeon/primal. We'd only need to look to WoW anyway to see how things will play out since parsers aren't hush-hush and like it or not, we're essentially the same community.

However, at the least SE should put a damage meter/parse on the Striking Dummies. If not for parsers, those things are pretty fucking worthless as they are right now.

I 100% don't expect an in game parser, I was just more approaching the idea behind it. Maybe it will be accepted when addons are allowed, whenever that happens. Weren't they supposed to release the information for that soon after launch?

The same apply to parse such as BRD vs DRG or MNK, The BRD will have an unfair advantage against the 2 others simply because it does not require any positioning. This being said, on a target that does not stop moving its difficult to do well against a BRD.

I am a WAR main and I do everything with it, in many parties I joined I saw alot people show a huge amount of stupidity towards MNKs/DRGs who could not keep up with a BLM. This is unrealist to expect a MNK or DRG to keep up/do more damage than a good/well skilled BLM depending the fight (adds?/no adds?/Move often?/static?)

This is why its good the way it is right now, because a lot of people are not able to put things into perspective.
What matters in this game is the group's DPS. Trust me if I lead a party and play with a brd who doesn't sing, he's instantly kicked for being bad regardless his dps is high or not.

Oh yes they do, the fact they can just stand on the same spot/move & keep hitting brainlessly while a MNK or DRG has to constantly move and can get screwed by a bad move/manipulation or wrong combo is a clear advantage.
Obviously it is not game breaking but you totaly missed the point were I explain that people prefer to be biast and would use the information provided by an inner parse the wrong way.

Totaly agree, but the thing is as of today a lot of BRD are reluctant to singing, but that is another topic.

Carebear or no, I'll just agree with Ronin that an in-game parser is just kind of the beginning of the end. It's nice to want accountability, but internet anonymity just poisons that sentiment. And after arguing with a certain prick that also claims to be a RL teacher in the D3 forums about how negative reinforcement really isn't a good way to motivate people to do better, I'll just say chasing away folks really isn't good for the game. Such might not directly involve you, but that can easily be the final straw that deprives people elsewhere of a friend, war buddy, or whatever.

I don't see it like an unfair advantage. Imagine if brd had to position as much as a mnk or drg, remember he still has to sing ballad, requiem, tp song. A brd has the responsability to keep an eye on healers mp, communicate with melee dps for their tp if the fight is long and cooldown not up, select the phase where requiem would be useful etc... Clearly it's easier to be mnk in a fight where you need to move a lot since all you have to do is dmg except a couple phases where you could use mantra to help the healers.

Bard is easier to play than mnk. Easier than drg, if there's a shitton of movement, probably. But let's not kid yourselfs, drg has two positional moves at the start of the rotation; it's not that bad.

But melee classes do more damage to compensate for that fact. Saying brd has an advantage is hilariously. It's easier to play, not advantageous.

So I'm doing DF T1 (yeah yeah I know) for some welfare gear for random classes and I land a group that looks fairly promising. Everyone's got pretty high-end gear, etc. We're doing fine, make it to Cad, then the other tank goes and Leeroys. I'm like, okay, they clearly know how to do this. Split happens, I pick up split, and... the other tank just stands there. People die, and apparently it's my fault. Then they pull the "bitch I've cleared T9 I don't gotta explain shit" card, making me wonder how they managed to clear it if they never bother communicating with anyone. I mean, it's obvious they're so used to their own static that they never bother explaining shit to pickups, but that's their problem when they go in and Leeroy shit, not mine. Communication skills and coordination are just as important as anything else, and if you suck at that, then that's a problem you need to work on. There's no leaving it up to randoms to read your mind and determine what strategy you use.

Now, here's the thing. It's DF. People don't usually use the fastest or most efficient strategy (god knows no one does T2 enrage for speed or efficiency). They do whatever's most foolproof with randoms. This is why the established DF protocol for T1 is the MT moves the split away. You can run it dozens of times (god knows I have with my shit luck with drops) and that's how it goes down the overwhelming majority of the time. And whenever people do differently, they usually say so first. Point is, if you're going to act high and mighty, you really need to make sure you're in the right, otherwise you're just the jackass special snowflake who's too cool for school.

Then the next DF I do, I get a party of people who've clearly never even cleared T5, let alone T9, and the party goes flawlessly.

An integrated parser would be neat. If you're not terrible then you have nothing to worry about.
I'd like to agree with this sentiment, and I don't necessarily think it's so much about BG becoming 'carebears'. At least, in thinking of FFXI, sure, BG could be accused of elitism, but I also thought it was a place to get honest, no-nonsense (and sometimes blunt) feedback. Sure, feelings would get hurt, but if people actually took the time to listen to advice, you'd usually be a better player.

The problem I think people (like RS) are referencing here is that sure, it would be great if people used the parsing tool as a way to legitimately (blunt feedback or not) call out bad players and help them not be dead weight. I think what a lot of people fear is that the "elitist" players will simply use it as a dick-waving measure to put down other players and an excuse to kick them.

Railing against that isn't necessarily something I'd consider being a carebear, it's just ultimately toxic to the community and not terribly helpful.

I mean I've seen both ends of it: People doing shitty and someone in the party taking the time (be it kindly or a little brusquely) saying "Hey, this is where you're messing up, fix it like this", person fixes it and does it better. And other people who say "Deeps too low" "tank fucking up" and when called on "Cool, have any suggestions on how to improve it" not saying a damn thing.

The forced 8-person design of things doesn't help things much, either.

Honestly I wouldn't even call most people out unless it was some huge issue of not meeting dps checks. Just the fact that I know they can see how shit they are and that people are blowing them out is enough. For instance I ran bray (normal) today and got a 33 gld and 32 arcn, anger level rising but I thought, ok I'll let it rock for a minute. First pull he goes up to the monkey's ass and just sits there waiting for it to aggro, he tries something resembling a combo eventually but the mobs where already creating a shit storm. I left abruptly, no call out, just a respectful leave. Thing is that tank was exposed and everyone saw it, for DPS there is no accountability ever. Even if you don't meet dps checks its like a who done it crime case. If there was some dps bar showing, oh interesting...Neon did 75% more damage than the next guys. At least they are exposed for people to see just like tanks and healers.

Yeah regarding the statics thing we need more social content for endgame pretty fast. I think going back to the original Coil lockout system for Coil2 was a massive mistake this time around, it really just promotes tight knit groups that are basically forbidden by the game to help others out and improve the general level of play in their FC/LS. It burns people out banging their heads against the same wall week in week out, it burns people out with RNG, and it burns people out when statics end up being a revolving door, and they have to bring people up to speed again.

Our saving grace has to be CT2 at this stage. They really need to hit a few home runs with it and offer something useful to everybody in the content.

I.e. something that casuals can grind, but something that also has carrots for the dedicated coil crews that are now towards the end of the 2.2 content cycle.

Not so much a complaint against anyone else but myself. Did some Levi's tonight and I was just awful. Died on 3 out of the 4. One was a lag spike but the other 2 was just me being bad.

I was top of the parse on 3 of the 4 but still left out of shame since someone had mentioned carry after the 2nd death.

Regarding CT2, it will be interesting to see how drops will fit in the current gear hierarchy. i95 to fit between myth and sol like CT1 did (meh) or 100, maybe 105 which could make the event interesting to help with sol/coil gating?

Also did they confirm alliance queuing for 2.3? Hopefully it would be more flexible than full alliance queuing.

That is one good thing, but I'm afraid T7 might break a static that has stood since November.
