Pretty much this. Left my old coil group and joined this new one with FC that's small. 15 people in it, usually 6+ online at any given time. We had to do some reforming cuz the current situation was bad. As in, can't beat T5 cuz everyone gets slayed on divebomb bad, gets pissed, event lasts for ~1hour. Dropped one of the healers, one tank and because the tank was friends with the dps irl the dps dropped. Now that we finally got everything fixed and static is all FC again, we slayed T5 the first try and continued to farm it for people who needed the weapons. Start workin on T6 with them, after about 2hours worth of attempts they've got the mechanics down and we're getting to 20% or so and the SCHs internet goes out. our other healer is RL friends with him so we found out one of the kids in his apt cut the coax cable or someshit lol. Taking the provider some time to make their way over there.
Probably just going to unsub and spare myself the cycle of frustration. Their current lockout design for Coil is fucking retarded and it won't be changing; this ensures that the inevitable "sry gais im burnt out peace" or "GUESS WHAT MY WORK/SCHOOL SCHEDULE IS NOW" will set us back, especially if it's a critical role we might otherwise be able to fill if we can tap some friends who have their own statics. It's been a chronic issue with getting a solid group that can clear shit no problem, and as we're about to make the jump to the toughest stuff in the current turns (so in this instance now, 9), some shit happens and we're fucked.
The hardest part of all this is just keeping a static of 8 people together. What schedule works for some will not work for someone else, and then there's friendships to consider and all other kinds of shit; you then need to find that date and time (or a new person). There's also no low-manning or anything to be found unfortunately; PUG Coil is rarely productive. There isn't really anything else to do either; I don't expect Novus weapons or Tower II to really be much of an alternative to Coil. It was good while it worked out I guess, but i'm not up for this cycle of static rollercoaster bullshit into perpetuity.
Kind of annoying how current things work. I'd rather it be like XI salvage where you can bring in 3 full parties or you can 6 man it ( probably solo now I guess ) if you're good enough.
I'd even settle for farming boss trigger item sets ala Tu'Lia (Sky) and Lumoria (Sea); Abyssea is also another good example of less than full party viable content that wasn't inferior or shit-tier. It's incredibly rage inducing when you're sitting at 6-7/8 and can't do a single fucking productive thing on any relevant content because of random bullshit/lack of knowledgable randoms with PF. It just demoralizes the fuck out of everyone and fosters a general atmosphere of animosity and frustration as we waste a night we could have otherwise just saved ourselves the token usage and energy of logging in on relaxing or something less terrible.
well, it is good but it's bad because we're so behind the curve and little issues keep delaying. Blows to get your group that close and to be shutdown. Today is the event day so we may pug if he can't show which sucks.
Also, fleece are insane now. I went out the other day to farm some so I can make more sb gear to meld my crafts and got like 5 stacks in half an hour
If E3 (or whenever we hear about expansion promises) doesn't tease something monumentally huge (like something to do that isn't Coil-like) for expansion, I don't see half of my group renewing sub.
For harder content in this game there should be a "learning" and "clear" option in the DF, at least you can have some kind of expectation. Granted there would be lots of free loaders, it would at least put you with people with that have a common goal.
And no one would use it.
Pf has this. Yet no one follows it.
lol yeah, df is just so worthless. I just had a flawless ct run ( I know... I was sb'ing) and made me think of how convenient df could actually be with some guidelines.
It could work if they added requirements to the hypothetical DF types.
ie. You have to have successfully cleared [event] [x]# of times to check the box to queue as "experienced/farm/for the loot" etc.
I think that may be pushing it too far. It would be cool to have it set where you at least had to have been alive during x phase to be able to que as a "clear" setting.
Just had to talk my way into an i90 Moogle EX because I wanted to join on SMN, not BLM...
Yeah no, I've got an i110 book, please tell me how bad SMN is in this fight and I'm going to accidentally kill enemies too soon.
I imagine someone who knows the job would be fine, but your average pug would probably do some stupid shit to kill em as smn
Yeah i was thinking something like -learning, -clear(have got to a demarcated point in a fight), and -post clear(for farm)
Smn is fine in Moogle, you don't have to crazy with dotting after initial application just bio, and know when to steady garuda.
Well it's kind of the opposite "problem" for that fight since you want your damage to be as controlled as possible.
SMN may do oodles of damage because there's so many targets but a SMN that's not paying attention can easily overdo it on DoTs on a moogle that's too low or leave their pet attacking a low moogle, etc.
On top of that you have to consider other DPS not noticing the DoTs you have applied and attacking anyway, pushing it too far down.
