Two days late, I know, but even if DRGs are chain-sweeping you can still sit on Shield Swipe to pacify him. I always test the water on the first eruption post-inferno, and if I don't have a proc sitting I'll use Bulwark to force it. Relatedly, I once had an entire eruption-free-post-inferno ifrit and was rewarded with zero comms for my luck and awareness.

Getting comms as DPS is bullshit man, what's with people. I've carried all kinds of DR groups through shit recently on my BRD and maybe, maybe get 1 comm every 5 or so roulettes. Go on WHM, play like total shit like I do and get all the comms. Something in the player psyche or something, it's interesting and annoying at the same time.

I've def made an effort to start only commending the better dps in the group unless healer or tank was exceptional.

Bugs me when I feel I've done a good job pulling a dungeon and not getting anything for it. It's the tricks like dropping off the bridge in Halatali to avoid the unneeded basilisk or avoiding the coeurl at the end of Brayflox or using stuns to open the door with the Eye in Haukke HM or chain-stunning Haukke HM's end boss before she sacs the eye that I'm glad to have figured out, but when that stuff goes unnoticed it's like "Well fuck you then, go back to Ring of Thorns and using ifrit and thinking you know what the fuck."

Tank privilege is real. Generally speaking I comm any healer who doesn't bitch that I pull like an asshole or any DRG who knows how to use Doom Spike.

If the DPS is noticeably good I commend them. Otherwise I can only go by parser and in the 5s it takes me to check it to see who top DPS is ( and if it's a decent amount, not 2 complete shit tiers ) they already left because who commends DPS.

1st few times I let it slide, people were shit but we got through, I coached people and offered a helping hand on Cad for newbies blah blah blah. After my 15th run of the day and still not seeing anything drop other then tank earring (which the shit tank won) I began just slapping people around. Wipe on ADS more then once? I get all my comms on my low level healers doing random dungeons or doing a random low level as my tank. fucking people can't be bothered to hand out any for high level shit. Did brayflox in 20minutes? "WHY YOU NOT DO IT IN 15!!?!?!?!?! FUCK IM SO ANGRY". Shit if you want a farm group join up PF.

Same. I also like to give comms when people ask questions or are otherwise genial to the party.

At the same time, being a healer hardly guarantees you comms.

Did Titan HM a few weeks ago. WHM outgeared me went down fairly early on, people kept getting weight'd, was having a hard time supporting everyone, figured we'd probably get to a couple rounds of Echo.

Survive long enough with me, one tank, and a DPS to get to LB3, I pop it, raise everyone and save us from having to do Round 2.

One comm.

Also I wish there were a way to say "You must give your comm before you can lot the treasure pile" because I know there are people who are dick enough to not commend someone that got what they wanted.

I base my DPS commendation on one thing alone generally: did they know how to use the limit break properly. Obviously their damage had to be decent too but that's a given. Healers and tanks get enough comms imo (and I am a tank) so I always try to find a reason to give one to a DPS.

I always give my commendations to DPS if they aren't retarded. I give em to the tank healer about 10% of the time. If I'm on tank/healer, a few things i look for…

#if a target is marked, are they hitting that target?
#did they engage mobs before a tank?
#if its a SMN/SCH, are there Dots on the mob? (you would be surprised at how many noob smn's only spam ruin)
#if its a BLM, did they use fire spells?
#is LB used at a timely fashion or does the healer/tank use it outa boredom?

I once commended a pre-50 SMN, first job from lodestone ( yes, I actually had to check lodestone since it was that rare ) because he actually used bane in Aurum Vale. One of those cases where you would be insane not to commend him.

I've been commending DPS as well, I think a lot of people have.

Getting close to my 500 commendation mount and all of a sudden even when I carry a run I'm not getting any. (pretty much always tank)

I've did a guildhest a while back where the tank immediately said, "I'm farming comms. Let me know if you want mine." I dunno, to me that's a sure fire way not to get mine.

Shit is the worst when you freak it on DPS and get 0 commendations. Had a fail expert roulette this weekend at like 2 in the morn and clutched as BLM on the Cyclops in Halatali(sp?). Soloed that cunt from 20% and didn't even get a "nice1 br0!1!" then did a T1 with a friend to gear his DRG and got like 6 lol. Didn't do anything special except keep #1 DPS locked down
