So this got posted to OF today:
Maybe shopped? Pixels at one point look off, but not at a point where it'd make a difference...idk

Does that surprise you? It's basically stated that can happen in the patch notes.
You gain the ability to actually bond the gear, you lose the 100% rate of getting T4s. No one should be surprised here.
Can't say I ever tried, but define "bonded just fine". Like, how many runs did it take?
I'm relatively certain that an unmelded HQ i70 piece got ... maybe 15%~20%? from ST pre-patch, maybe I'm thinking of expert dungeons. Either way, that's slow as shit.
Either way it cost a fraction to make i90 and bonds basically a little slower than i70 in current Extreme dungeons.
Went from 49-80% iirc with two trash materia in there from one st and one dungeon (ex)
Off the top of my head it took something like 4 CT (not ST) runs to hit 100% on i70's with 3 melds.
Main point of this gripe is that at a time where tier 4 prices were getting outright ridiculous, SE made it worse instead of better.
No it is better, it is cheaper to make i90 and now more fruitful so people will be decked out in i90 and bonding them more often. It costed me 100k+ to make i70 shit gear and run it through content with a chance to bork. Now it cost me roughly 30-50k to make a piece and the gear is actually good not trash.
Edit: only downside is that is cost around 80k to make the accessories, still cheaper though.

In the short term it may be worse, but I suspect their intent was to have more people spiritbond, thus reducing the cost of the materia (and it's cyclical, if you have to do dungeons to bond, you're getting myth, which makes the myth mats cheaper, etc.). That's clearly their intent anyway, only time will tell if it pans out.
I'm going to completely pull this number out of my ass, but I expect a 50% T4 rate from i90 gear. Even that might be ambitious.
I'm most curious to see the rates from expert dungeons on i90 gear. ST can go eat a dick. 22% on an HQ double-melded item means it's 12.5% bond rate on an NQ unmelded i90 item.
What you describe was already the case before the nerf to the materia results. I'd been holding onto my completed i90's though, on the hope that tier 5 materia may be introduced at some point and the lack of immediate need for gil or the materia. And now that's just been kicked in the balls.
Ah, so your root complaint is that you speculated and lost.
No, that's a minor annoyance. I'm over 10m and only have a handful of i90's ready to convert; that's a laughable loss. But it's a really bad sign for the direction SE's going with the availability of tier 4 materia.
1 meld on i90 boots 2/3 dungeon gave me 17% from 0. So it is almost exactly how i70 was in expert. basically 20% per run.
so out of 4 pieces, half have been tier III. That sucks!
Doesn't look exciting after how ugly it was shown in live letter. Anywho reward for all beastmen quests done

Why can't u utilize alliance in open world... you can only form and queu, wtf SE?
Because 2.35 is a useless minor update, and probably something to do with PS3 limitations.
It makes me really curious what's in store for 2.38 besides personal housing if this was all 2.35 supplied, which was almost nothing as far as QoL goes. Just the delayed Ixali stuff and a few half-baked (alliance forming, pvp changes, the housing-kicking-people shit) 'solutions'.
I refuse to believe that's all they're doing for ally forming. Their DF still needs an overhaul also to allow for partial alliances to queue up, since good luck finding a full 24 people for anything, as well as allowing it for Frontline.
