We all know it was bullshit written just because they got way more negative feedback than they expected.

That new relic quest is trash too, but at least that was expected. Not a fan of everything in the game going down the massive timesink route. I can't justify 200 hours or whatever it will take of spamming dungeons to get a weapon that will be outdated by Shiva weapon or on par with farmable T9 weapons a month from now.

Well I mean it is something they have a tiny bit of right to be concerned about. I had enough money to buy 3 more plots and the characters to do it with. I merely chose not to.

But you have to draw the line somewhere. Draw it too high to dissuade rich people and you exclude people who can't even afford (say) 4mil.

3 people from static officially quit the game because of recent patches.

They were cool people, kind of salty that they may not even come back should we actually be able to do current endgame together outside of fucking statics. It's just a really fucking frustrating feeling to be unable to go and help someone clear 6-9 for the week if you're cleared. The gear doesn't last long enough to be so full of RNG and other fuckery too; I feel bad for anyone who has maybe missed one week or two and still isn't Second Coil BiS on their main.

And I guess i'll still be here, albeit for lack of any more appealing option than any real loyalty to what's been a fairly rollercoaster-like time spent with ARR. Second Coil has been an utter disaster for me, and it's seemingly largely to blame on statics being the only assured way to really get anything done. Work, school, whatever; that shit sort of just destroyed multiple attempts to finally get Turn 9 down with several statics.

You know, I completely sympathize with this line of thinking. The barrier to honest-to-god endgame FCs is two-fold:

    1) Zero flexibility. You bring 24, 8, or 4 people. No more, no less. FFXIV would benefit if - from low-tier content like dungeons to the highest-tier content like BCoB (and its equivalents) - the game enforced minimum party/alliance size rather than an insistence on full-sized parties. I imagine players would find it convenient to attempt full-party content in parties of 5-7 instead of recruiting pick-ups or otherwise just logging out of the game.

    2) Weekly lockouts. SE is clearly determined to protect the rarity of drops from the highest-tier endgame content, and based on this policy, they will not permit players to clear the highest-tier endgame content multiple times per week. Here's why: the high-tier endgame FCs/statics would absolutely sell the shit out clears and/or equipment from the highest-tier content(s). I feel SE wants to protect the rarity and exclusivity of this highest-tier content and ensure that skill and not gil determines who obtains these drops. As of now, I see no way to reconcile these (both reasonable) viewpoints.

Endgame FCs in XIV simply cannot develop like they did in XI, and XIV's inflexibility is the underlying cause (and honestly, it's also in conjunction with the relative new-ness of the game and its overall development).

My random complaint: my personal house's company chest links with my FC's company chest. I know this shouldn't be unexpected, but it's still a bummer not having my own personal chest in my own personal house.

It does feel like there's a bit of a disconnect in that regard.

You can own an entire plot of land and a house but are somehow unable to store anything in it.

Well, I guess that means that buying a house will actually *reduce* the inventory you have at your disposal, since you have to hold the permits somewhere right?

Like a personal garden (or gardens), a 'personal' company chest should be one of the amenities included with a personal house. As is, the company chest is still somewhat convenient, but it's not something that elevates a personal house from mere diversionary fun to a real QoL investment. I definitely feel my house is a physical manifestation,of wasted gil, but meh ... I still like it and feel for those without the opportunity to even find an open plot, much less buy one.

When purchasing the permit, you essentially choose between a wood, stone, or composite house. By using the permit, the game constructs a house on the plot consisting of only the exterior wall and the roof in the selected wood, stone, or composite styling. I'm 99% sure the housing permit vanished after building the house.

Then do you get the permit back if you demolish the house? I know a friend of mine bought a used permit on the MB.

Additionally, in my FC, we have permits for the NPCs in the house. I don't know if those are just trash now or not.

I swapped out one of the NPCs in my personal room at the FC house, and upon removal of the NPC, you don't get the permit back. I assume it's similar for houses. For instance, when I placed the cobblestone fence I built, I got a warning message telling me that I could not recover the fence if I later chose to replace it with something else.

If you want to change or mix/match the exterior of the house, you're free to do so without restriction by the initial building permit. To be fair, I only tried this with the roof. I had to build 3 roofs while convincing myself I liked the original one best.

As for the used permit, I can't say I've ever seen one on the MB (note: I don't camp the MB regularly). I wonder if someone bought one (or the wrong one) by mistake. Without a plot of land (or the correctly-sized plot of land), it makes sense to toss the permit on the MB for a net loss as a mitigation tactic.

EDIT: Just checked my character's and retainers' inventories. I didn't see any used permits. I did find some hoarded garlean materials and field demi IIs, so yay!

Back when ventures were a new thing, I heard a couple reports of people getting housing permits from quick ventures. Never saw confirmation, but that's another possibility.

I am kinda confused, but what amount of content do players expect for only 7 bucks/month oO? Not that I am playing FFXIV acitvely (never did tbh only for 1-2month when I needed a break form 11), but this is a serious question, what amount of content do people expect monthly for 7bucks? Price sounds rather cheap for the amount of content you are getting.

    agree with Damane

we are living in an era where we have old sch gamers, who wished things are tough like in the good ol'days (people who are prolly 30ish like me), and players who started using a PC at 3 years old who want shits to be handed out

Company these days made game for money. They spend alot of resources to make games look good than fun to play. And in order to do that, they strike a balance to get every penny from us.

who cares if you dont like a system they implement, at the end of the day if your the minority, for example QQers over housing, nobody gives a shit about you

as for coil, its just there to keep players happy over challenges than loot, by now you should learn that coil loots are just status armor for 3 months max before everyone and their grandma make a char to do coil

just dont expect much, and dont cry over something you cant get in a game

if you wanna play, play if not gtfo its fine

Posts in OF like "im going to unsub" makes me wanna kill kittens, i mean how old are those people, 6?

The problem with wanting to protect their snowflakes here is that the gear has a shelf life of six months. That gear isn't exclusive in the first place because this shit is hard (well, ok it's "hard" in the sense you're not likely going anywhere with a PF Coil group as opposed to a static that can deliver consistency). If people are really that bothered by the idea of selling clears/drops, I don't honestly know what else to say. It's not like you're buying an abjuration for a HQ Hauberk in 2004 here.

Kinda disagree with the reasoning there on weekly lockouts, maybe I'm crusty and cynical, but I don't think it's anything more or less than a structure to milk raiding subs for as long as they can. The side effects might be making the gear "more exclusive" and preventing "excessive carries", but at it's core, it's just a sub treadmill. IMHO SE's major reason for not liking carries is probably that it short circuits people's natural (slow) progression path, and they would be more likely to unsub in a shorter time frame. The major issue with RMT from a businesses point of view is the money doesn't go to SE's coffers, and personally I believe it has a real impact on how long people stay subbed for. SE's ideal sub is someone who only logs on for a few hours a week to do coil, gets totally screwed by RNG, and keeps coming back for more.
