    I've never seen a pony.

Actually that's a lie, but I need to exclude the one time I did from my memory forever.

I want to hear this story.

Loving the XI carryovers, I don't mind however many they bring over since I still feel like XI is my real home and I've simply "moved to another country" or something. It helps.

I've seen at least two DRGs that outright didn't know what heavy thrust did when I asked why they weren't using it. At 50.

Seems like a silly way to bot. Probably someone just entering then going back to AFK or work.

A bot would enter, then chase Garuda around the whole time.

The one I saw was really pretty good. Pre fight it would keep a certain distance from a tank. When the fight started it would stand still. Then hide behind a pillar, then stand in the the center until Aerial Burst. Then it probably just follows a healer and leaves the instant the fight is over.

The evil genius of it is unless the group wipes and/or wants to wait 5 mins to kick them there's nothing you can do about it.

I was going to post this in the FFXIV Heavensward discussion page but I can't. It'll be what I was going to post (so, it'll have some references to discussions in that thread in the news section).

I'll post what I was going to say there here (It was in regards to jobs in FFXIV):

About the discussion a few pages back.

I tried out FFXIV at the start of 2.3 and nearly maxed out after just a month of play. Within one month, I cleared everything except Leviathan, Ramuh, and Turn 7+.

Relic is one of the worse things in this game. It is just rolling over low level stuff.

Also I'm surprised with all the discussion no one has really mentioned WoW.

Currently as is, if the game was really like WoW, then it'd be good.

Problems FFXIV has that they didn't take from WoW (or FFXI):
    1. No specializations. In this game, we have to worry about "Blue Mage" having to have a role (Yoshida said in one of the latest letters that if they added BLU, they weren't sure what role they would be) because in FFXI, they could damage deal, tank, or heal and of course transfering that over to FFXIV would be problematic (sort of).

"However", instead of trying to figure out some solution, just copy WoW and give jobs multiple specilizations (where you pick something, it vastly changes all the jobs/classes).

FFXI did it one way. WoW did it another (great and simple). FFXIV just ignores it altogether which is silly.

    2. Party stuff. There's no interaction between other party members in this game at all.

FFXIV has the same issue as Wildstar - The game is mostly about dodging stuff and memorizing stuff than anything resembling an RPG.

In FFXI, it is fun trying to figure out a party setup. I say FFXI is definitely in it's prime right now (honestly FFXI pre Adoulin was kind of mindless in any real "setups" but FFXI post Adoulin does it well for having things like Delve which actually require some thought). Delve I was definitely really imbalanced but Delve II is much better (allows more variety of setups and neat things).

Actual thought and fun in trying to get a successful group in end game content which is appreciated.

Also again, FFXIV doesn't have to be like FFXI. WoW has way more interactive class mechanics between groups of players and everything done with WoW is fine.

There are some cases where players may not be able to play a spec they can't (Mages are the most obvious example) but for the most part, WoW works in that every class and every spec is viable and welcomed in raids. Also the spec issue can be remedied in FFXIV by making it really restrictive to change your spec (like lets say can only change specs by using up 50k company seals or something), so people are more allowed to play the spec they want on a job (or to limit it so if a spec that can fill DPS, Heal, and Tank specs, they can't just change so easily, which may be unfair to classes that may only have DPS specs for example).

    3. Weeklies. Weeklies are the most boring thing in FFXIV. It is a chore to log on every week to do everything (between Second Coil T6 drops, capping tomes, the snooze fest that is Crystal Tower, etc).

In FFXI, Dynamis, Salvage, Assaults, etc were all the weeklies but they were more interactive and more fun. Plus, I liked chatting with tons of people in Dynamis and stuff. It made something that is mindless, mindlessly fun (unless you were RDM and had to refresh everyone in Dynamis I suppose).

In FFXIV, it's just mindlessly boring. Crystal Tower, Turn 6, hunts, etc.

    4. The Wildstar problem - Okay I got to mention this again. Even carraway says the end game is "still somewhat shallow". I can't post link here but here was his post on TL (replace [dot] with .) :" teamliquid[dot]net/forum/games/346304-final-fantasy-xiv?page=84#1680 "

Nothing in FFXIV is remotely interesting. It's just "memorize this encounter and dodge it". No fun theorycrafting or any interesting interactions or setups in the game.

Also (regarding having more diverse party setups in the game), the argument that "you'll spend hours waiting for a group" is silly because WoW has the same thing but no one has problems with inviting a Shadow Priest (for example) or a Monk Brewmaster spec (Tank) for an example to any raids (unless it's world first attempts of course but in any other case, guilds or PUGs, people are fine with almost any spec in WoW).

Plus in WoW, I like that each raid has some mechanic or something where a certain setup may work but even in that worse case scenario where a raid requires less broader class setups than others, there's almost always room to fit any combos of specs.

In FFXI the balance was poor at the start of Seekers of Adoulin but it is much better now. It's a lot of fun thinking of which jobs I can bring to a certain fight. Like lets say you don't have Bard, even if you don't, you have several jobs that can fill in the role. Any combation of Geomancer, Summoner, Red Mage (now they have Haste II), Corsair, Dancer can replace it.

Bard is mostly pure support (with very limited healer capabilties). They have the strongest set of buffs (4 songs and for a variety of needs) but Geomancer (Buff/debuff and nuker hybrid), Summoner (buff/debuff nuker and healer hybrid), Red Mage (nowadays, like in Delve II, can replace a BLM or SCH as a nuker if needed and still also support with things like Haste II, etc), Corsair, Dancer, etc.

It's fun thinking of which setups I can get to this raid or something.

WoW has it. FFXI has it. FFXIV doesn't have it and instead just mostly focuses on boss gimmicks which mostly just involve "stand here then move here then stand here then move here". FFXI's Delve II was well done. WoW raids are well done.

    5. Variety - FFXI's Seekers of Adoulin has a lot of variety going on. Skirmish (many types), Delve, high tier battle fields, exping, missions. Counting only Seekers of Adoulin, FFXI has more stuff going on. Also there are no silly weeklies (for the most part). True, Dynamis and Salvage are dailies but they are mostly for gil and you can make gil just as much in other ways (I don't play FFXI as much but Voidwatch was really popular a few months ago and I made tons of gil joining JP parties, which they'll gladly let you in).

Also the "LFR" (casual mode easy stuff) in FFXI (Wildskeeper Reive) at least is fun and requires some thought. Crystal Tower is so boring and mindless (doesn't help the drop system isn't great either if you want a specific gear, you might get really unlucky and have to do dozens of runs to get that one gear you wanted).

FFXIV barely has any variety. It's "log on to cap your weeklies" then log off (for the most part). Relics is "time to roll over low level content on my level 50 job! That's how we upgrade a weapon to item level 115!" which would be fine if that wasn't the only way to do it. Stuff like FATE grinding (not just that, low item level dungeons, light grinding, treasure books, etc) wouldn't be as much as an issue if you could also somehow get Atmas (for example) too from doing other stuff too besides FATEs (like actual end game content approperiate for your level).

    7. Update speed - FFXI has monthly updates. WoW is taking a really long time for their updates but when the updates come, it's always content packed and lasts for a decent amount of time.

FFXIV gives you 2-3 "10 minute fights" once every three months which isn't really much content. One of the problems is some content is outdated when released (except for maybe relics I suppose but relics are horrible reason for that). Like, the new dungeons released in 2.3 all came with level 80 gear (outdated when it came out). Who wants to get level 80 gear when (that same update) 2-3 hour of hunts can give you nearly fill (minus the weapon) item level 90 gear.

Overall, FFXIV has many problems. The main problem is that it is basically a watered down version of both WoW and FFXI.

Of course, there's definitely room for improvements. One thing I'd like in the expansion is specilizations. Ninja could have a melee DPS spec / Tank spec / ranged caster spec (which was all viable in fFXI). Blue Mage, instead of "oh no, we don't know what role Blue mage will fill" would properly have DPS / Tank / Healer specs. Also again, it could work like in FFXI where you have tons of abilities to chose from but you can only set a limited number of them at a timer (like 10 abilities only). Also instead of having to learn spells from monsters, they could just simplify it and let you learn spells as you level up.

tl;dr - Disappointed in the class / job system. Even more disappointed that FFXIV is basically WoW except without one of the greatest aspects of WoW (class specilizations) which added a ton of variety to the game.

Yep but again take note that I wanted to post that in the Heavensward thread in the news section (where people were throwing wall of texts, well not as big as mine, back at each other) and I couldn't post in that section yet (need 100 posts to post in the news section). So I'll post it here. I do like FFXIV but it is definitely has some things that can be greatly improved on. I hope FFXIV's first expansion adds some more variety to the game.

XIV's got no reason to complicate things for their already-retarded userbase. Giving idiots more choices and specs will just give them more wrong things to do. It's already difficult enough to find DRGs who know how to DRG and I think we all remember the wave of Summoners using Ifrit and not applying DoTs.

If I wanted to play XI or WoW, I'd resub to those. Also, I'm slightly skeptical at you calling XI in the prime of its life now.

We got our 7th pair last night. I'm going to take a shot in the dark though, and assume you're swimming in caster masks.

We've gotten 0 Caster Masks and 1 pair of Caster Feet in 11 t9 clears. I was eating cabbage up until last night when the caster feet finally dropped because it was necessary to hit the 470 acc since our RNG for left side caster gear is so terrible. I wasn't even surprised when they dropped. I figured it would happen since it's our last week in SCoB.
