I hear complaints about T9 groups saying "know to divebombs" but can't defeat even first or second golems lol

Are we already at the point where people are saying you need to watch a vid for fucking ULTROS when there is no vid out there yet? Fuck off and don't be an obtuse piece of shit.
I realise this is the random complaint thread, but let me disabuse you of this notion while I weave in a more tenable complaint of my own.
Both FFXIV and WoW have lots of content and the difference isn't as big as people think. The real difference comes from the way FFXIV handles its progression model. I think the way FFXIV handles difficulty and gear progression is a bit weird; especially Crystal Tower patches where you have this 3-steps-forward-2-steps-back approach.
When it comes to number of bosses:
- WoW expansions have lasted between 22 and 26 months (BC being the longest one). In this time they have added 33 to 52 raid bosses (Cata being the least, BC being the most) and 10-15 dungeons.
- FFXIV has been out for 14 months and we have gotten 33 unique bosses* (not counting variations such as HM or EX more than once) aimed at groups of 8 or more level 50 players. If they keep this up for another year we will have received 59 bosses, placing FFXIV at the very high end of WoW's boss delivery. FFXIV also has 28 dungeons (including 86 dungeon bosses) so far.
*the bosses I've included in this number are:
- 12 Trials: Hydra, Chimera, Ultima HM, Ifrit EX, Garuda EX, Titan EX, Moogle EX, Leviathan EX, Ramuh EX, Shiva EX, Gilgamesh, Ultros/Typhon (Even the easier fights - apart from Gilgamesh and Ultros/Typhon - have factored into progression in some way... Hydra, Chimera and Ultima gave people a bit of trouble when they were first released)
- 9 Crystal Tower bosses: 5 in LotA and 4 in Syrcus Tower
- 12 Coil bosses: 4 in BCoB, 4 in SCoB, 4 in FCoB
If we're talking about bosses aimed at groups of 8 or more level 50 players (Crystal Tower, Coil, and Trials) then FFXIV releases more hands down. I would argue that fights like Ramuh EX and Titan EX are fairly difficult... they might not be top-tier in terms of tuning or difficulty, but they aren't exactly easy. Even Crystal Tower bosses are well-designed; they have unique mechanics and there is still a risk of wiping if people aren't paying attention, although that risk is designed to be relatively small. Again, the problem I think people have is that the mechanics for the more casual bosses are fun, but a little bit too forgiving.
I agree that regular coil might not be tuned to be as difficult as raids in some other games, but Crystal Tower or Trial bosses aren't necessarily tuned to be as simple as the simplest of bosses in other games either. Immerseus Normal in SoO is probably comparable to Ultima HM or Garuda EX… Attument the Huntsman is simpler mechanics-wise than Gilgamesh. It's the model that FFXIV has chosen to go with for now and it seems to be fairly successful if one is to judge by the game's popularity. Not to mention the fact that they are continuously experimenting with things like Savage mode (which I think many would argue is tuned to a sufficiently high level of difficulty). I'm sure there will be more new modes in the expansion.
The fact of the matter is that FFXIV releases boss encounters at a faster rate than any other top-tier MMO, including WoW at its prime. What some people don't like is that some of the bosses are tuned to a more casual level, most notably the Crystal Tower bosses. Yoshi-P has reiterated again and again that they wanted to make 2.0 accessible to a wide audience, but has hinted that 3.0 will be more difficult (as when he said open-world areas would be more dangerous in the expansion). The second coil was already much more complex than the first, so there is some building up in difficulty going on. If they tweak item level and gear progression a bit in the expansion and continue to implement things like Savage modes, I think CT-esque bosses, Trials, and Coil-level encounters will be more than enough to keep people occupied and interested.
Had my first NINtard, trial roulette Titan HM. He didn't say a word the whole time.
123, rarely did dots (never Mutilated), no Dancing Edge (no WAR), letting Huton fall off, no Suiton (no Trick attack), applying Doton on single-target.
Not asking for an instant expert here but 123 is unforgivable honestly.
complaint: why the fuck is novus 75 stats, and vajras is only 44 acc 22 det......
im so fucking cheated of soldiery...
If you hadn't noticed, Novus was always able to "cheat" the normal stat caps for their ilvl.
You were allowed to raise DET to the same cap as a "minor" ACC/SS/Parry/Crit stat even though DET is always weighted more heavily on every other piece of gear in the game.
Maxing DET on a Novus essentially gave 2 "major" stats rather than 1 major and 1 minor.
Join a T6 farm party, do one run, clockwork, immediately kicked afterward because the PT leader wanted to get his friend in.
Fucking people.
(there's been nothing but FATE parties in the PF since patch, second coil farm parties are nearly non-existent)
1) not have 0.5 wait macros
2) not seeing party members tp
Kind of seems like, with Heavensward being about six months away, no one really gives a fuck about the tedium and stress of trying to get (and keep) a Coil static together (much less bothering to farm Second Coil, if you still need glamour gear from it).
I honestly can't blame them. Maybe if they open up Final Coil in 2.45 or whatever, I could probably get a group together here on Leviathan or back on lolMidgardsormr.. but until then, I doubt it.
I played neither MNK nor BRD before this patch so I have to do some amount of coil 2 farming if I'm gonna be playing NIN.
Also idk what a static has to do with it really >_>
Well, it doesn't really have anything to do with farming Second I guess. But I do suppose there's simply a total lack of motivation around, as compared to when First Coil went on unrestricted farm. People just don't seem to really care anymore. Maybe they're waiting for the Echo? That's really all I can think of to explain why there's a complete lack of interest.
If people aren't bothering with Second Coil it probably has more to do with the echo and nerfs that are coming in a couple weeks, not the expac. These fights are more complex than the Binding Coil ones and there's no "enrage strat" for any of the turns.
NIN is obviously to blame too, I think out of the 40-50 people I interact with weekly, only a handful of them aren't bothering with NIN. Makes setting things up annoying but it'll be better in a couple weeks. Same thing happened in 2.0 with ACN.
That aside, right now the Excal PF has two T9 farm groups, one T7 learning group, one T7 farm group, and one group looking for members for a static. There were a few more Second Coil groups when I started typing this post but they filled up/went away. It's not even EST/PST primetime yet, lol.
It does seem silly, given that you can see your own TP (quantity and bar) displayed in the party list, to not have the option of displaying TP for non-mages.
All together now:
"PS3 limitations"
Didn't they answer that at one of the fanfests when somebody asked why MP shows in the party list for non casters instead of TP? They gave some bullshit answer about "not wanting to overwhelm players with too much information" or something equally stupid.
They did answer with this crap but I have this vague recollection that they ended it with a generic "we will consider it moving forward" remark while they were basically explaining why they didn't put it in there initially. I mean, until Goad, Army's Paeon was the only reason for anyone to ever see another party member's TP and that was for only one job. TP really was an almost worthless bit of info to share with the entire party.
If they really don't want a 3rd gauge for every party member in the list, what they should do is just replace MP gauges with TP gauges for DoW and color-code them accordingly. I'm sure it's not an involved adjustment. Hell, just make it a UI customization option.
