FFXIV Random Praise Thread: Time to melee RDM

What is the trigger that causes that "no map link for position" or whatever error come up? Been trying to figure it out. I'd understand if you're in an instance and someone does that in a comm channel where that instance doesn't exist (IE - talking in LS while you're in a dungeon) but I've seen it in shouts.

If you click the Link on the map and try to link it while zoning that error can happen

Just found out over the weekend that when someone does <pos>, you can click it and it makes a flag on your map.

You can also use <flag> to add the <pos> to the chat log. Makes life much easier when you're trying to communicate a spawn location you haven't arrived at yet.

I knew about pos, I didn't know about flag. How do you do it?

you click on someone else's <pos>, putting a flag on your map. Entering <flag> references the location of the flag (someone else's <pos>). Closing the map or loading into a new zone wipes the flag

You can also make your own <flag> by ctrl+rightclick'ing a point on the map.

No one has? People on Balmung sure were last weekend. "Where's Naul?" someone links to a position on the map that's impossible to get to.

I wouldn't say it happens often, but it does happen on Hyperion. Some guy had people jumping from zone to zone just a couple days ago linking fake positions that weren't even on the map saying it was S pop.

Behemoth had an East Than S shout troll by a LS so they could claim an open A all by themselves.

The system brings out the best in everyone.

I don't see many trolls and I hunt a good amount. The worst I generally see are idiots who freak out about random FATE boss spawns. And I was off today so figured I'd be able to clean up on hunts; did well, but there were still like a million people on. A's were disappearing, etc.

I just use Noct head for everything. (I'm not doing savage coil)
