Some, not all. There are some "true sound" unavoidable mobs, usually including most mobs in lv50+ dungeons.

Easiest way to test for sight vs sound is to deliberately walk as close as possible to a mob while being behind it.

With how casual a lot of the PVE stuff is in this game, I'm eagerly anticipating the day they make 'aggro' radius/cones a visible indicator.

you tick the checkbox that says "will not aggro mob"

The amount of rage when going to do brothers, lining up to fall off of the cliff, and all of a sudden getting gangbanged by a dozen demons out of nowhere followed by some random taurus that shows up late to the party because he runs at normal speed.

People refused to get tractor/raised because the only person who made it was the BLM that only had raise 1. They'd rather stay dead until the WHM raised / got there and R3'ed them.

It is known that getting novus/sand weapon increases your particular weapon droprate noticeably. I managed to use my Novus bow for 3 days before HA dropped.

Actually, in our group the trend seems to be: if you "give up" and buy a soldiery piece, the HA will drop. Months ago I bought noct hands and HA hands dropped that night. Tonight (24/22/21/10 kills per turn) our very first DRG head and belt drop... and our DRG has just bought the soldiery ones. The anguish was real.

Next week I might have to bite the bullet and buy soldiery legs/belt so I can get out of i90. But what if this doesn't work because I'm thinking about it. Hrnnng
