Actually, in our group the trend seems to be: if you "give up" and buy a soldiery piece, the HA will drop. Months ago I bought noct hands and HA hands dropped that night. Tonight (24/22/21/10 kills per turn) our very first DRG head and belt drop... and our DRG has just bought the soldiery ones. The anguish was real.

Next week I might have to bite the bullet and buy soldiery legs/belt so I can get out of i90. But what if this doesn't work because I'm thinking about it. Hrnnng

Yep, exact same thing has happened to me a few times. Gave up on bow and hands dropping, welp there goes 5m and 495 soldiery. Gave up on casting boots for my alt dropping, another 495 soldiery gone~ thought at least I can use them on blm until staff. Now I'm onto the dps war set, but apparently I hadn't give up hope hard enough for earrings or legs because they didn't drop this week; here's to hoping getting gloam earrings will make them drop next week at least >.>b

It is known that getting novus/sand weapon increases your particular weapon droprate noticeably. I managed to use my Novus bow for 3 days before HA dropped.

The only person in our group with a Novus, doesn't have a HA weapon for the job he has a Novus. (he has HA spear, MNK Novus)

That's an interesting theory since our only drops have gone to players with Novus weapons...

7/8 of us have Novus though.

In my mind that was the joke. If someone doesn't have a novus by now, well... Idk what to say. Prolly the same ppl who say there's nothing to do in the game once weekly clear is done. Or spend all their time pvping perhaps!

Your WAR is heavy-handed on the merging then.

Like, I know merged vs. unmerged and how much we cut out is a point that's still up for debate, but if he is hitting 350, it's not from doing anything differently than what I (or other strong DPS WAR) do, it's from merging like it was going out of style.

No poison pots, strictly DPSing as OT. Was up around 365 towards end of fight, but dragged on a little long so I dropped, note 2 deaths by bards. I will hit 350.

I guess I wasn't really considering T8. I don't really count T8 (for myself) since I MT it solo tank. Numbers I'm reaching for as MT are like 265-270. I have no concept of what a WAR would do as pure DPS OT in T8, but 350 for that seems reasonable with BiS DPS gear + HA Axe.

But not even having hit 350 DPS as WAR in T8 with the most favorable conditions possible for DPS and claiming "trying to hit 350 DPS for everything" is pretty much exactly in line with my "lol" response.

Only way it's gonna happen (outside of T8) is with a very heavy merging hand / shit like holding all slugs on til the last 5% of T6 and dropping Berserk + Xpot overpower spam on them to buff your numbers right at the end / other shit like that.

I just started my PhD program, am teaching two classes, doing research, and grading for others. I'm so tired I can't even function, let alone discern sarcasm
