Yeah, there's a lot of little nods to Legacy people, which is fine imo and I'm glad whenever it happens.
alternatively the NPCs in question during the Rising aren't bound by the rules of Hydaelyn
Speaking of nods to legacy people, how do they justify the SMN questline for people who were neither legacy, nor had beaten (or even set foot into) coil?
I quit doing coil when Final Coil came around, so I never finished it. It said I encountered Bahamut's aether because "I was there at the battle of Carteneau" presumably because I'm legacy, but what if you've done neither?
Plebe version:
Master version:On the day of the Calamity, the dragon vanished in an explosion so massive that his aether was carried to the far corners of Eorzea. You, among many others, have already been touched by his essence.
There is no flag for Final Coil, because canonically there's no way Y'mhitra would know about it.You were there at the Battle of Carteneau. You were there on the day of the Calamity when aether infused with the dragon's essence rained down upon the field.
Storyline wise you are still supposed to be a hero of light that the kids grandpa saved at the last second. Playing from legacy isn't really relevent to the story as far as i know, just gives the player themselves a better perspective.
Edit: saw rocl's post. That's really interesting i guess they do actually differentiate.
Louisoix only saved you if you were Legacy; there should be flags denoting such in the T12 CS. Cid, at the end of the Praetorium, very clearly states that Legacy players have now "saved the realm twice." Basically, Legacy player's story is canon and fit very uncomfortably on top of the story written for non-Legacy. (Never forget Minfilia acknowledging you immediately only at the Waking Sands only for her forget and then be suddenly reminded by Hydaelyn at the end of Praetorium)
Fun fact: There's a change in the flag in the final SMN quest dependent on whether or not you completed Heavensward MSQ. (It's just about Lahabrea being alive/dead)
Hmm, I guess legacy players are ones who finished the 1.xy series of story missions? I purchaed 1.0 but never actually dropped any money on that mess as soon as I realized nothing changed from open Beta at launch.
Random Praise: The idle animation on the Wind Up Iceheart. So fussy, so cute.

For dialogue changes and the Pillar of Light scene after relogging onto that character after 2.0 started you needed to beat United We Stand or whatever the Lunar Transmitter mission was.
Legacy mark was put on any character that existed during 1.x.
Oh lame. Noemi was around since 1.0 but I changed servers since then. I was on Balmung for 1.0.
The best nod to Legacy players is the Legacy Chocobo! That tooltip is so heartwarming that I refuse to ditch him for another mount. I even give my fellow LS members shit for ditching their faithful companion.
Plus his wings flap when he jumps! Which my wife is very jealous of since she's a non-legacy peasant
Do the standard choco mounts not flap now? I thought the lack of flapping was due to the bardings covering their wings, which has been fixed now due to the flapping animation required for flight. I automatically assumed that meant they allowed the standard chocobos to flap, but I've never thought about it enough to check.
Completing the original 1.0 story (Futures Perfect) was a requirement. I never completed the 1.23 GC quests cause I was already off to Tera by then but I still got the dialogue as if I had killed Nael. My alt had cleared only half the original 1.0 MSQs and almost all the GC quests but she was considered a non-legacy peasant for the whole of 2.0.
I was under the impression that all that was tied to the same flag as the alternate character opening, which SE did confirm, but I guess not.
i was level 34 when the calamity hit, and definitely got the carteneau dialogue.
