A bit late to the party, but the final trial is great. Spectacular, varied, and with the right amount of challenge. It's inevitably going to be nerfed, so I'm glad I did it now.
Can't wait for the ex version.
And now that I'm unlocking Omega... Omg, the nostalgia hit right through the heart when I entered and heard the music... This is going to be awesome.
oh yes. that music right when you enterhit me right square in my nostalgia. and then I previewed the fourth boss...Spoiler: show
I had a thought the other night, that if you're looking for an updated remake of old FF games, you should ignore FFVII and just head straight to FFXIV. I often feel like I'm just wandering around through old FF universes while I play this game and it's fantastic.
This must be one of the only reason why I keep playing this game despite the retarded Devs and the horribly bad playerbase.
I will not be the downer here as they do deserve credit for the story, however I do think they could have made things a bit better dungeon and boss wise. After all the trailer was saying "war is coming, victory or death" and the only times I really felt like it could be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Idk, I think they could have added a bit more explosiveness here and there.
As for the inspiration from previous FFs they still have alot of things to use as material for boss and raids.

Sleeve Draw seems super lame from the description and I was kinda sad it was the final AST skill but upon using it I completely fell in love. Cards for days, now I'm a true duel master.
Isn't that the skill people are complaining about? The one that puts a card in your "card held" spot, but now you can't cancel a card held so your aoe buff could get stuck on being used with bole?
You can get some silly combinations (50% spire spire/ewer ewer) and yeah that can happen but I usually just roll with it, figured it was what could happen if you fucked up (though it happened before 70 and it's something I don't like about the new UI). I mostly counteract that by having a card I want in the held slot before I use it unless there's a situation where any card combination would be better than nothing.
Has some odd shit but generally I've been lucky with it. But I've also been experiencing what I call the law of Minor Arcana in that when I have the skill for use my card combinations are mostly amazing and I never really have to use it. But when I don't have it due to sync my cards are trash and it would really help.
Picked up Scholar again to start leveling to 70. Was a lot easier then I remember it being. I'm not sure why but for whatever reason after I got it to 60 I kind of dreaded playing healer as I felt like 1 fuck up would mean a party/alliance wipe. I dunno if I'm just using my abilities better after not having touched the job in months, or if I'm just being more liberal in my Adlo use, or just using my faerie better or what, but yeah, it was pretty fun.
Edit: Having 2 less DoTs to use was lame though, as well as no Cleric Stance dancing. After I put Bio/Miasma up, it felt like I was just spamming Broil between heals.
Edit2: Apparently Sch got super nerfed in 4.0. I only just now looked into the job and supposedly it's.. it's not good >_>
Especially considering of the 4 bosses in omega NM only one had a single add. Not to mention both EX primals had no decent use for AOE dps (Unless you count padding on rocks in Susano)
A lot of times, win/loss will absolutely depend on how good at your job you are, moreso than any other role by a longshot. Healer is the most able to carry a group and perform multiple roles (mostly dps but depending on circumstances can tank to a certain extent, esp AST in noct stance). But idk, it's not too scary to play even so, because even if you can't pull out some kind of clutch miracle every time no one is really gonna blame you for it. And even if you do, most people won't even notice or care -_-
You did kinda pick the worst healer option right now though. SCH isn't completely out of service but SCH's kit is overall the worst of the healers. It has the weakest mp regen options, weakest healing and shields, the weakest everything pretty much except it has that utility (crit+) spell over WHM which doesn't have any unique party utility. And its new fairy ability is pretty bad. But it's not the end yet, because they're going to fix the jobs that are suffering in the next update. Or so they say. Their idea of "fixing" is probably different from ours.
Officially done with susex, got mnk fists, drg spear, war axe, and sam katana with mount!
I dont know if they ever can fix SCH again for me. in heavensward i played sch over ast just because you could do so much. now that 2/3 of the Dots are gone and other stuff I am just... spamming broil with bio and miasma and that doesnt cut it, while on AST i am now fully engaged with Cards, AoE DPSing, Healing etc. Feels engaged like pre nerf SCH.
SEs way of fixing sch will prolly be the same like they tried to fix PLD in heavensward... there have some MP cost reduced!
And this is me as well, SCH is so flat and boring now. I was already gradually shifting to AST at the end of HW and now it's my go-to healer when I don't wanna dance around as RDM.
The job needs more fairy interactions to be engaging again but it's not gonna happen anytime soon if ever![]()
I tried Scholar exactly once in its new form and the lack of any sort of AoE button to push once bane and shadow flare was dumped drove me fucking nuts.
AST life for me bby.
Damage aside, SCH is really miserable for huge pulls because of the lack of a good spammable "Cure2". They are pretty okay in a raid setting but the leveling process is ass tier for them. BLM and DRK also suffer a bit from incomplete job syndrome until 70 but SCH doesn't gain anything that fixes them in dungeons.
When you time your stuns just right to break Rubricatus's script in CM and are able to zerg him from full HP to 0% without needing to wait on Cid. Saves so much downtime.
