I won't lie.
I'm excited if it is gonna be a fight against Sephiroth/Saber-Sephiroth.
If for the asthetics and soken music alone.
I'm hoping it's FFXI/FFIX or FFIV just for the minion. It'll probably be FFXII though since they have the XII team (least some) working on XIV now with return to ivalice..have assets already...can import HD Remaster assets etc.
I mostly want to see the Ark Angels and Shadow Lord because that warriors of darkness fight just bleh and it's an excuse to satisfy yoshi's 'return to vanadiel' joke, given how blatant some XI references are lately in SB. A real twist would be if Omega ends up throwing us into Alefgard because why not.
I don't think we'll see anything pulled from XI and XII since Eureka and the 24 man got that billet on lockdown (and we just fought 12's superboss)
Wife thinks we'll see 8 tho. I could imagine that working better than sephiroth. Enrage check being Ultimecia + Beast and the Savage being their junctioned form.
I just can't imagine them going FF5 -> FF6 and then skipping FF7 to go somewhere else. There would probably be a ton of complaining if they did that.
Unless 7 is being reserved for 5.0 considering the Fanfest mount is Cloud's Fenrir. But yeah, I don't see Ultimecia being the "big surprise" either.
It'll be FF7 just because I doubt they'll be doing a fanservice raid tier again in 5.0, or going backwards from FF5>FF6 to FF4, and waiting on a release window to coincide with FF7R in the year 2022 is dumb. One of the bosses will be a reskinned existing model. Two will be unique. One will be ripped from Dissidia NT, and then a final one made for Savage.
Also, isn't FF7 is one of the lesser referenced FFs in FFXIV? Was there anything notable besides use of the term materia and the scorpion in Ala Mhigo?
Golden Saucer is a pretty big part of the game.
Cait Sith features prominently in the Heavensward alliance raids, though you could probably argue that version is more a throwback to the FFXI version.
Cloud's SOLDIER outfit is one of the subscriber loyalty rewards after...7 months I think?
Isn't the Monk LB3 called Final Heaven? IIRC that wasn't used before Tifa.
There aren't many references to it but I'd say that goes to VIII. Even IX is barely referenced at all except for Gigi, X has Yojimbo and the minions/costumes and that's it. Honestly the PS1/2 era is barely in the game compared to everything else unless you happen to be Ivalice related or FFXI.
O9s guard scorpion
O10s council fight WoL dups
011s corrupted Boko
012s omega-faust/omega
The huge surprise is probably this last tier will be 5 chambers.
9~12 will be FF7 theme'd and then 13 for a fight against Omega.
edit: bit of a stretch here but the 4th tier will drop the weapons and then Omega will drop a super catalyst to upgrade them 10 ilvls higher so they can continue to fuck around and stretch Eureka out to 4 zones. (fire, ice, water, thunder)
Eureka is likely gonna stretch into the next expansion at this rate, there's 8 elements in total.
Shiva wasn't even hold over content. They just added diamond dust to the drop so you could upgrade the ilv110 weapons to ilv115.
I do wonder how the community would react with ilv410 weapons being available with patch 4.58 though. Considering it'd come out like 6 months after the raid tier launched I'd be down with that.
It'd be better than the Coven weapons at the very least.
This might be old news to some of you but I just read an article about it today and found it pretty heartwarming. The devs were telling the story of how the King Moogle Mog primal fight was conceived back in the 1.0 days. The team had been working on releasing Titan and Leviathan fights as the next big primal encounter, but then the earthquake/tsunami combo in 2011 came, and they felt releasing Titan and Leviathan so soon would be seen as insensitive considering their nature. So they needed a primal fast but didn’t have mock ups or work done on anything else—it was then suggested by someone that they use the model for a Moogle and just make it gigantic. And thus King Moogle Mog was born.
Yup old news, I believe this was brought up during a fan fest? I know it has been spoken or put out there in text from Yoshida once or twice.
edit: 2012 is when it first was said, in an interview that I cannot pull up via link anymore.

Gotta praise the exp from roulettes. Took Rdm from 50 (about 2/3rd the way to 51) all the way to 54 (about 1/4th the way in) doing a single days worth of leveling, alliance, mainstory, trial and 50/60 roulette. Get just over a level at 60+ with that combo, so it’s nice the lower level stuff is super quick
Which is a bit of a shame since dev-wise it looked like Titan's story was already done on their end before the game's launch given some of the files sitting dormant in that client, plus that one unused cutscene. Not that anything they could have done with 1.X Titan would compare to the eventual Titan Hard/Extreme we got in ARR, but I'd have been curious what kind of fight he'd be. Given the CS, a focus on incapacitating his limbs before they regenerate I'd have guessed.
A shame that game being released in a train-wreck alpha state set everything back to the point of slow damage control, staff shuffling, and the eventual ARR reboot.
I'm onto you Koji Fox.
Edit: Fucking knew it.
