That baby coruel minion... so much want.
Some very nice controller love! I thought they'd said they wouldn't add the additional xbar combinations because of ps3 reasons, so I'm really happy to see this.
Also interesting that the focus target UI element on the PS3 replaces other elements... they really must be out of memory for drawing items on the screen there. The following features have been added to hotbars and cross hotbars:
- Hotbars that are called by simultaneously holding LT + RT, or L2 + R2, can now be registered.
These hotbars can be set by selecting the Expanded Hold Controls option on the Cross tab of the Hotbar Settings menu found within Character Configuration.
* This option is deactivated by default.
The currently displayed cross hotbar will be saved upon logout.
The following changes have been made to gamepad/controller controls:
- You can now scroll through the enmity list using LB/L1 + up/down on the direction buttons.
- You can now scroll through the alliance list using LB/L1 + right/left on the direction buttons.
Coil was nice to my group this week. Turn 1 dropped double ADS plating which I've never seen (heard?) before, and Turn 2 also dropped another ADS part. Four of the eight allagan drops were also upgrades we could use. My weapon loot whoring of three weeks straight also continued and I'm all done with those now (bow, h2h, and yesterday sword). The sword was actually our first duplicate after seven weeks of clears.
First T5 win!
War Axe and BRD ring
Noticed the dead Goobbue in Thanalan today. I'm always a sucker for points of interest like this in any type of video game.
The Goobbue belonged to a great Legacy Master Race who fell during the Battle of Carteneau and poor Gooby ran scared from the Wyrmking Bahamut before it finally fell in Eastern Thanalan never to rise again.
Pour a 40 out.
Now goddamn peasants can get a "laurel goobbue"
Not that far on my BLM yet. I know I did a series of quests near it where I had to get rid of some insects and crap. Might look at it again once I get my BLM up there.
You forgot one of the best of the new controller options:
I wanted to set up my Xpadder on the R3 button for this for a while now, but now I don't have to yay. Combined with the other camera fixes this is going to be awesome.Gamepad Settings
Button Configuration
The following commands may now be assigned to the left/right analog stick buttons:
- Draw/Sheathe Weapon
- Lock On
- Face Target
- Reset Camera Position
- Not Assigned
Reading all these "Fuck I forgot to change it and got hit with an auto-resub for 3 more months" makes me really glad I turned off my auto renewal a full month ago and just changed to 1-month entry when my sub wore out today. Their payment system is worlds better than it was in XI, and definitely better than it was in xiv 1.0.
Although since I'm doing a month at a time now I won't get the awesome ff1 minions now. And gonna have to wait forever before Kan-E-Senna becomes my sex slave.
Yeah, they've mentioned the RAM usage for the interface is near its peak, so to squeeze in focus-target, it turns off server info (time/connection) and XP bar (lol) when displayed, both of which you won't need displayed anyways for the situations that would demand focus-target.
On that note, is there a designated button combo to initiate focus-target from controller, or will I have to macro it in?
This games PVP is incredible. No time gated, lots of things to work towards, lots of things to unlock, tons of gear to work towards and materia, and the PVP is actually enjoyable. A+++++
THIS is how you design a MMO, super meaty with tons of content. Give me that in PVE too SE! This is probably the best PVP I've experienced since vanilla WOW.
Ultima Weapon is an insanely fun fight. If the other new Primals are even half as fun, this update wins. FC went in blind, and we had a blast (literally) learning the mechanics through trial and error.
Finally beat Ultima. We decided to just use the tank limit break before the last boon so we can just bumrush the shits as soon as possible. Our biggest problem is people dieing when the outside pewpew lazer machines spawn and then we have to stack in the middle for the airship crashes.
Quite a fun experience and I look forward to doing it more times. I expect to have as much fun when I attempt garuda/titan/ifrit tomorrow/tonight. I'd do them now but it's time to pass out.
Took us about an hour to figure out Ultima. The stack mechanic is slightly annoying but at least you don't need to swap as frequently as ADS (until the end).
The first two sets of Boons we just have the offtank eat and get cured between each one. On the third set they pop Hallowed and run through them all. Note that you can't cross the lines or they'll detonate. The Freefires don't hurt as bad as the ones in normal Ultima but you still need to be in the blue zones for them to not hurt significantly. The Bits definitely sting now, though. Ultima hits like a truck, and the entire fight is magic damage as far as I could tell so WARs will be better for it than PLDs (but then you won't have a tank to Hallowed the last set of Boons). You can also abuse the Raise invulnerability if you're targeted by one of the green orbs and someone just got raised. Just path it into the person getting up and they'll take no damage and you can stop running around.
Very fun fight.
Hallowed works? We tried that earlier and still ate damage.
