I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's actually planned to be that way since 2.2. Making the highest attainable no-content gear i100 was a pretty brilliant move, it kept CT from being instantly outdated content like it was last time, and now they're making it so you can slowly ease your way into having i110 gear for those still struggling with Second Coil, but not having to just throw in an echo buff. It all seems too well coordinated to have been an accident.

Well, and Swift Song, which is nice if you have to run all the way from the cannons to the endboss in Castrum. Never understood why ppl completely ignore several % aoe movement speed+ they get for free.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's actually planned to be that way since 2.2. Maybe, though I have not had the chance to get gear in coil this season I am glad it was the top tier set. Unlike last season, where I can grind WP and be as geared as t5 cleared groups. The (un)intention to delay CT/Hunt with the rewards now finally putting them on par with pre t9 drops is a good compromise.

It's totally been their plan all along. It was the only rational way (to me at least) to explain them having the two gear sets and weapon options locked exclusively behind coil.

Looking at it now, if anything I'd say that adding UAT/Sands/Oil into Coil2 was a bit of an afterthought. As a motivator to get people doing coil 2 and keeping them there, it's probably been quite effective.

edit: gear is mostly i90. the two on the left(myself and Thetone) have max melded i90 gear capped crit/determination with i100 accessories. the two on the right are a mix of myth/allagan. think dual hack/relic for the weps.

And it's like half a second to cast, I do it between pulls it's that easy to do.
