I guess I just really suck then, even for a first-time run via DF, because I found Amdapor near-unbearable to heal. Maybe I just had shit DPS in the party making everything harder on me, I dunno.
Edit: I guess my only having 358 MND isn't helping.
Honestly your MND value will do fairly little, did you obtain the Ifrit Codex as it is a big upgrade from whatever you got from questing. Fairly quick breakdown of how i am doing Amdapor in my sub 20 mins runs.
Boss 1 - Cleric stance the trash mob that spawns the main boss running normal rotation, your pet is more than capable of healing any little damage this thing does. Soon as main boss spawns save all Aether charges for Void Thunder 3 and use lustrate for it, have boss as focus and use succor as a pre cast to mind melt.
Boss 2 - Cleric Stance for the first 2 sets of rotations, precast Succor before the fight, the only damage will come from 200 of damage from the wall himself, if dps get hit Leeches before heal. Precast Succor before any knock backs. Soon as bees spawn physick whoever has aggro, Leeches paralyze asap and if anyone gets hit lustrate them and leeches their debuffs. Succor can make Demon Walls passive AoE here do 0 damage at all times, if you don't feel comfortable using Cleric Stance use Succor untill bees spawm use Succor as it will reduce damage taken big time.
Boss 3 - Honestly find this the easiest to heal, he will do 1 combo where there is an oh shit moment which will be Rotten Breathe > Laser eye beams, this will take a full health tank to 50%, just use Lustrate (does not get effected by the Disease debuff) leeches and then Physick him back up. When hiding behind the pots if you feel your dps is low, dot the boss up every little helps, beware though as soon as Immonent Catastrophe is over he will do tail swipe and follow this up with Breathe > eye beams. Leeches where need on DPS who are bad other than that this fight is easier than the other 2 to heal in my eyes.
Something i forgot to add that I feel could be a good testing subject to my post is pre casting Shadow Flare, this ability can slow bunches of 3-4 mobs for the duration of 30 seconds. How good is the slow on this and does slow effect monster as badly as it does players, if it does this could be a good source of mitigation that can help with those shitty packs.
So many bad SMNs exist right now it is scary. I think the job naturally sorts itself. The more competent players go SCH for faster queues and because they can handle the responsibility. The bads go SMN because they've seen what happens when they try to main heal. Very general statement that does not apply to specific players, but I seriously feel like the stated trend is somewhat accurate over the XIV population.
Yeah definitely not at once, they would be mad broken. But being able to switch jobs for different roles is pretty cool.Er, SCH can main heal and SMN can DPS, yes. Not like they can do both at once.
Though like the other poster said, I see lots of shitty SMNs and a few decent SCHs.
Do Spur and Rouse stack?
That'll be helpful, thanks. I suppose I will need to spam Ifrit since I'm still using the lv49 electrum book. I was going to just clear Amdapor once so I could get something from GC but it's clear that Ifrit will be the less painful option for now.
They do.
Speaking of bad smn's, why do so many have a problem using rez? Having an insta cast in combat rez on a dps is awesome, but meet so many that get butthurt when told they should have used it.
Edit: or when they bitch at healer to heal their pet and get butthurt when I tell em to use sustain.
These are the bads.
Sustain and Physick being as solid as they are means I would never expect anyone to heal my pet for me. That is absurd. Unless a non-tank pet is tanking, Sustain is more than enough to keep it healthy through just about any AoEs/DoTs.
Also, Swiftcast > Resurrection/Raise is a wipe-saver. The only other time I use Swiftcast is when I need to resummon while I'm moving. Otherwise it's saved just for raising people. If someone would rather have the group die than to use one of their class' base spells... I just don't know.
It's because it's amoebas playing this game, not people. That's the conclusion I came to.
Shit, Summons don't really get hit that hard anyways unless it's tanking something. Bitching at the healer to heal it is silly.
Seconded on SwiftRes. Bit disappointing to see other WHMs/SCHs/SMNs at 50 either not have Swiftcast or not use Res at all. Like, hey badSMN I'm here curebombing and swift is down because I just raised your ass! Pitch in bro!
If I had absolute confidence in a group I -might- use it for Shadow Flare or Stoneskin once in a while. But so far that hasn't really happened.
Potentially stupid question: Does MND/INT affect your pet?
Quick test of ~15 heals per trial run
Fairy summoned with 358 MND
359-382 Embrace
Taking off gear didn't seem to effect the values.
Summoned naked (274 MND)
279-293
Putting gear back on didn't change
Summoned with Cleric Stance (251 "MND") yielded same (good) results as the MND gear test.
Incidentally Selene's Embrace doesn't seem any worse/better than Eos's (without Rouse or other healpot+ abilities on, of course).
Edit: With gear pet had 2628 HP when summoned. Without, 1845.
Full stats, naked then geared
HP 1901, MP 3369, STR 179, DEX 204, VIT 210, INT 237, MND 274, PIE 243
HP 2684, MP 3663, STR 179, DEX 204, VIT 264, INT 251, MND 358, PIE 282
The important distinction being leveling one class to 50 instead of 2.
Whether the future 2nd jobs to be added to existing classes will follow the same trend (jobs of different roles) is something we'll have to see.
Re: Adloquium. I find it's nice to use when you're paired with a WHM (always prefer having one of each than 2 of either) as it works very well with minimizing waste from overcuring. Using Adloq. essentially guarantees that at least half of your "Cure" cannot be wasted since it will be added as a stoneskin effect regardless of being beaten/overlapping with a WHM's heal.
On a similar note, I always try to toss out Stoneskin on the tank when no immediate heal is needed as it essentially gives me breathing room to do stuff like energy drains or apply DoTs. It kills me that I never see WHMs do this considering theirs is even more efficient. Basically when I'm paired with a WHM I can usually throw out regular Adloq.s and Stoneskins and my pet and the WHM do all the real curing.
Also it fucking kills me every time someone gets killed and the SMN just keeps on DDing while the healers are busy trying to keep people alive. It's literally 3 seconds to swift+resurrect and you're not even losing that much damage doing it since most of your damage is from your DoTs and pet anyway.
When Ifrit's going buck wild in phase 3 and me and the WHM are struggling to keep people above water, that would be the time to make use of your extremely broken utility insta-raise (and even be able to cure them after raising them) you goddamn Ruin II spamming moron.
Also echoing what someone else said about pet placement, in reference to Ifrit: it is incredibly annoying to have to reposition your fairy every time they get knocked back, especially when you play with a controller which makes the whole ground-target ability function very cumbersome.
It's even worse because I can't even see where she is half the time with so much flashy shit going on, I have to actually target her from the PT menu and lock on to find her sometimes.
