How inconvenient, also stupid.

I was under the impression that Sic is simply an attack command and the behaviour mode you're looking for is "Guard".
Sic is a bit of a hybrid command. It decides your pets immediate target and it's the AI mode to attack anything that you have hate on.
Guard and Steady are pretty much just AI settings, the former requiring you to actually be attacked before they act.
I felt super clever the first time I used Sic and figured out you can use pets to SMN pull XI style.
Well, not quite XI style, can't avoid links just aggro from nearby enemies.
Sic also doesn't have a range limitation iirc.
I did Sastasha with some nubs while I was on ARC and they skipped "The Hole" or whatever area is blocked by a pair of pirates. After the party left, I tried to solo distract them with Topaz Carbuncle, grab the key, open the door, and grab the chest.
Every time I Sic'd Carbuncle on the pirates, as soon as Carbuncle crossed into their sight-range, they immediately aggro'd me. I pulled it off, but only by making Carbuncle hit them to take the hate I inevitably had.
I can't imagine how anyone would experience anything else~ D:
I've sent my pet into groups of hostile enemies and heeled it back with just the 1 a number of times.
Dungeon mobs might work differently I guess?
Send your pet towards a mob that aggroes and see what happens. If the monster aggroes by sight and you send the pet from its back it'll never try to kill you but if you send the pet making sure it's seen you'll see that the monster starts coming after you (before the pet hits and grabs its attention). Try the same with sound aggro mobs, as soon as your pet gets close you'll get aggro.
I've reported this as a bug, they replied it works as intended :/ Makes no sense tome, but oh well.

Even if it wasn't intended, you really think they would fix it and let Titan be a free sac pull for any dungeon?
This is the same to BRD/ archer Flame Arrow.
Click button, move the ground marking, click enter to make it happen.
This is definitely takes more than 3 sec to complete the whole process, coz when I have my macro running, each gap between GCD moves I had 2.65s. I tried to place it manually in between macro line, and always get interrupted from next line in...
(Well, probably I'm too slow on this ;
I have been healing tank and close range melee with myself and pet standing on the side of boss. Where boss does not have AOE.
At lvl 36 atm, yet to come across with AOE dmg boss... Finger x , I'll find a better way to suit my playing style lol
Thinking of levelling ACN, but kind of concerned about pet usage. I've never been very good at controlling pets or minion in most MMOs, but I like the Arcanist's playstyle so far.
Can I get by with the automatic pet control? Or will I need to control it manually at some point? Is it a matter of a little bit of efficiency sacrificed, or will I be completely gimped if I do not control the pet/s?
Tell DPS pets to Obey once after summoning and they'll only spam their basic attack (everything else is lower potency or something you don't want them to do automatically) which is all you'll need 90% of the time.
If you dabble in SCH you'll want to do some manually placing but fairy can generally heal fine on her own.
So what is the auto-action AI for Eos and Selene?
I'm presuming Steady is "do nothing" and Sic is "use everything as cooldowns are up," but what about Obey and Guard?
