Previously the target filters recognized pets, like, universally.

My "when weapon drawn" filters are enemies only and I'd still target pets and it was annoying as fuck, but the patch notes mention a change about targeting priority for pets so that probably has something to do with it.

It was absolutely infuriating trying to target pets today. I had to physically cycle from mouse to controller. and when the egis are stacked on each other, on top of mobs, clicking them is a pain in the ass. then switching between them, and party members...i gave up.

In low level dungeons I would just set Topaz to focus and heal it if the tank really sucked, but that doesn't really solve your issue for 3 summons.

We were doing 2x DD + healer + smn setup it was his first time in there with a pet tank. I think it was more shell shock and no quick target and then he just got more hulk as time went on.

I don't play SMN endgame but what kind of damage does Titan take on high-end enemies?

I've seen/heard people doing SMN Titans and such but I'm wondering what kind of damage he takes in general compared to PLD.

Titan can't reasonably hold hate off of DDs at 50, can he?

Yeah Titan's hate building is ass-tier. Can only really do it vs other summons or DPS going intentionally slow (which misses the point so).

I'm fairly certain all summons (and chocobo companion for that matter) are basically naked so it's not like Titan should take less damage per hit compared to another summon (excluding that one CD of his) aside from just having 2x HP. Though until we reason out or see summon stats beyond VIT that's just a guess.

From just flipping through my logs from this last AK, fairy took ~400-500 per hit from gargoyles compared to like ~200-300 from Shield Oath PLD (decked out in DL and relic+1). Took 393/615 from 1st/2nd catastrophe. ~330 Tail Swipes.

That said there was some twitch video I didn't watch of a successful Titan-tanked Titan HM. Will see if I can find and see if Egi's damage numbers are there.

The only selling point to Titan-Egi tanking is the heavily reduced AoE damage on pets. Unmitigated Mt Buster from Titan HM is 4-5k damage but since it's conal I'd assume Titan-Egi would be taking <1k (unless the mitigation doesn't apply since he has hate?). Given Titan HMs only notable burst damage is AoEs he'd have no issues staying up. I imagine you'd have to let him build a fair amount of enmity without people DPSing at all in phase 1 though, since you can't afford to slow down DPS after the heart phase. Given you have all the time in the world before then though you could easily make it work.

Looks like Titan-Egi takes basically normal damage from cleave and Mountain Buster (~4.5k on the latter) but he basically shrugs off everything else.

So really Titan is a WAR with even more HP and bad hate generation. This actually makes some logical sense since he does like 1/3rd less damage than Ifrit and has twice the health.

Any SCH will tell you fairies tend to hold their own surprisingly well when an unrestrained Eos drops a whispering dawn right after a pull.

I would imagine the pet actually designed to tank might have some amount kind of naturally higher defense.

Tested on the nearest thing I could find (lv40 Dragonfly near Whitebrim). Ifrit takes ~60 (+/- 3ish), Titan takes more like 58ish. So there might be a small innate defense boost on Titan.

Though Garuda is also taking about 58ish so that's kind of weird. lolfuckIfrit

Edit: Nevermind me it's all the same. 58ish. Granted lv40 enemy so not representative of Real Content.

So it didnt seem like I could ever find a straight answer so I figured I'd ask here and I'm sorry if it was said. The Adloquium shield from Succor does not double on a crit correct? It is not the same as Adloquium right?

So after having PLD Relic +1, WHM Relic and SMN Relic it kinda feels like a waste not doing SCH Relic.
I haven't really touched SCH cause of the whole attribute thing.

You guys reckon I could just keep the 30 INT on SMN and be fine? Or go 15/15?
I really enjoy SMN and I have WHM should I really need to heal something difficult.
Doing SCH more kinda for the hell of it, ya know. Completion sake.

I do like the fact that in stuff like AK I can just go full time Cleric Stance and just DPS though. Literally. Just/ DPS. After placing Eos close to the tank.

Can someone confirm for me what level summoner can summon Garuda? Also, I'm currently level 42 would I better off using blue Carby still? (Unless of course it turns out I can summon Garuda now and have missed something)

Garuda is 45; first 45 quest will give you the non-body AF. 2nd 45 quest is for Garuda-Egi.

Don't know for 100% sure if Emerald Carby outpaces Ifrit or matches him or is slightly less good (with Ifrit's "secretly 4s cooldown" thing). Your preference imo though I'm a firm advocate of Ifrit just plain sucking at everything. Once you get Garuda you have basically no reason to go back.

I dropped 15/15 for 30 MND when my Coil group settled in with me as SCH.

I don't see why it would be a "waste" not to do SCH relic, having a job at 50 is hardly reason enough to get a relic for it (legacy or no).

Add in the fact that you have WHM relic and I don't see why you wouldn't just go 30 INT for SMN and use WHM when you were needed to heal (WHM with cleric's can DPS plenty well too, it's just more cumbersome than SCH).
