Missing main storyline quest?

I was grinding the main storyline along with acn. ACN 23. I finished the quest "First Contact" (aligned with Malestrom, if it matters), and couldn't find the next main quest to continue on with.

I swapped to one of my 50's and checked around the shroud with the recommended feature and zooming in/out on my map. Nothing. For some reason, a Lv1 grid quest (Sylphic Gratitude) was showing up on my map without me accepting it (The arrow pointing to Grid icon showed up), so I thought perhaps it was a pre-req quest, and still nothing.

I checked with Minfilia, my GC (max rank at 1.0 close), Baderon, Grid/Limsa/Uldah and surrounding zones with my 50, no little meteor icon seems to pop.

Glitch or is the icon just not flagging? Anyone know where I should head next?

From what I remember, after you join GC you get a call from Minfilla to come back to her, so that's where you should get your next mission...

Yeah, the little meteor quest icon is gone from the map because it's inside the Waking Sands and there's no connection to that location on the Thanalan map.

It should, however, be in your journal under a name related to your newly chosen Grand Company.

I did check with Minfilia... and this is after my first GC-themed mission. I was sent out to Grid to chat up the cabbage faeries. They won't let me meet their elder. Questline picks up where?

Going there is part of the questline. You need to do quests from them afaik?

Every time an MSQ terminates with a reward, the next part of the MSQ should immediately be visible either by panning around and looking at nearby NPCs or checking nearby map icons. I'm personally on Titan (Hard), post-Praetorium, and I've never had issues finding the next MSQ, although there is a slight disconnect when you start the hardmode primals.

If you can't find it always check the quest text/dialogue of the previous one. They always tell you what to do or where to go.
