I have been probably one of the most unforgivingly critical people of this game since the failed initial launch. That said.... love this damn game. The villains are great, made me realized that one thing main numbered FF games have been missing for awhile is good bad guys.

Pushing through the story, even early on I am getting super pumped and excited to see what is going to happen in the future. There is a weird kind of nostalgia when they talk about the warriors of the light (ie legacy players) that makes you feel really immersed in the game.

I had high hopes for this game 3 or w/e years ago, and definitely have been super pleasantly surprised by the final results. Now I am pushing through the game and looking forward to more good shit in the future of the game.

Yoshi-P da best. Not only did he re-make a game which was literally on life support, something that's already hard for any MMO to do, F2P or P2P, he made it a gigantic clusterfuck of nostalgia to the truely hardcore Final Fantasy fans. I mean, around every corner, he pays homage to a Final Fantasy of ages past, which is what I really wanted FFXI to do, it being an MMO. I mean, I found a FATE in Little Ala Mihgo, which paid homage to Final Fantasy Tactics-- all of the NPCs you fight in the general area are called "Corpse Brigade," while the main target in the FATE is Milleuda herself from FFT (complete with brown hair, green armor, gladiator job and all). Despite her being insignificant in that game it's little things like that which make many of us FF fans proud to stand by this new game.

Yeah all the nods to games of yore are awesome. Most of how I feel has already been mentioned before, but I will say this is turning out to be the FF MMO I've always wanted since before XI came out.

I'm not breaking out the champagne for this game yet as MMOs need at least a year before you can pass judgment I'm quietly rooting for Yoshida since my hopes and dreams for the franchise ride on his successes. That being said, I let out a nerd giggle last night when the Delita "Blame yourself, or God." line got referenced. Fuck yeah, Final Fantasy Tactics.

People on other forum communities (mmorpg.) reading this speech as Yoshida crying during an apology about the server mishaps, but it doesn't read that way at all to me. Just looks like him being emotional about a milestone or accomplishment like professional people often do when they achieve a dream or something they've been working towards for years. Haven't been able to play as much as i've wanted to this past 4 days, but the 22 hours i did get in i've been loving it so much. Once this server stuff is sorted out I think this is really going to pay off big time for everyone involved.

I love how the media is bombasting the game for problems they should have known would happen in the first place. Every MMO that launches has server issues for a few days sometimes to a week after release. I guess its just so cool to hate on SE these days. Here's a newsflash, if you didn't expect server issues for atleast the first few days to a week or so, you're retarded.

The same issues persisted from beta, so really this problem is 2 weeks long. 3 weeks if SE really is waiting till next week to setup their new servers.

must admit when he first started chocking up and i recognised one of the few jpn terms i know, the crowd yelling out genbatte made me smile,

was there for 1.0, was not happy, but YP's lead has always been really positive, much respect for that guy, resubbed/purchased just for the ballz that guy showed throughout the process

People really think he's crying because of the server shit? No, bro. He's crying because after 3 years all his hard work is coming to fruition. The man slept like, what, 4 hours a night for the past 3 years? No vacation, no time off... A lot of pressure is off his shoulders now (not all of it), but a large amount of pressure is off his shoulders now that the game is released. He can worry about normal MMO problems now that he doesn't have to do the impossible any more.

He did have a few sick days because of the flu or something, but other than that yeah he's been at the grindstone for almost 3 years now. I hope they let him take a vacation once the servers become stable.

To me, I see it more as he's finally releasing his baby to the world, and he has a number of emotions about the future to come. He's definitely not crying about the server stuff, but I wouldn't completely disregard his hopes and fears for the future. I'm sure he's thinking "Fuck, I hope people like this game."
