Pugging this quest on Ultros as a tank is a nightmare. Generally healers are killed before the heart phase.

I guess I could wait a few weeks for my RL friends to be ready for this, but I suspect there will be other content by then

Not interested in a carry. Have around 5.2k on PLD with mostly DL, haven't had any issues surviving the final phase, although it never usually lasts particularly long with Ultros pugs, so who knows.

As long as you're smart with your cooldowns and don't take too much damage from bombs you're fine. The rest is on your party's performance. No amount of gear or skill will ever change that, which sucks. =/

The problem more is that Gaol is hard to get off a smn with just dot, egis, and Fester. That cuts down heart time quite a lot and even with enkindle, you are going to run out of time.

I went on whm today with 5x dps. Learned there's a certain timing to getting medica off and healing without taking damage from plumes. Ate a landslide post heart(lol) and the sch solo healed the party. Total carry. And I'll probably never whm titan again.

Are yall popping Shadowflare on the jump where heart spawns and doing a full set of RS/Contagion debuffs with fester before attacking gaol (gaol comes right after the full set)? I feel like the beauty of smn in FFXIV (if you can even say that, I don't really like it but I like it more than other jobs) is the "set it and forget it" thing. You're just missing ruins because everything is ticking down/on recast while you work on other things (gaol). Even the Gaol'd smn can get a couple DoT's in (not counting their shadowflare) and their Garuda is constantly attacking.

(None of this is to say I had a SMN PT when I did it, but that's what I'd do!)

People are just trying it out, so not yet a thing I guess.
