Are you sure the pets stop? Because I'm pretty sure I've seen garuda wind blade titan on auto-pilot while I was gaol'd. I've tried to have her attack the gaol I was in, but get the unable to execute that command message (unlike the bubble trap from the eft boss in Brayflox, you can command your pet to come over and attack it while inside).
You can't change your facing while standing still, though. That shit drove me crazy when I briefly tried legacy controls as mobs kept walking out of my field of vision and I had to interrupt my casts. There is of course the option for auto-facing but that's also really annoying to deal with.
The trick for quickly moving backwards with standard controls is to quickly shift the camera and strafe. It's what people have been doing to prevent slow backpedaling since WoW.
are you.... turning with keyboard?
Finally beat it! Our run from last night. Don't mind the Mumble chatter. lol
Autofacing is a 100% non-issue in legacy camera because movement is relative to the camera. This specific tangent was talking about standard vs legacy on healer which doesn't have to bother with keeping facing for autoattacks.
Don't think I'll ever understand Standard supporters. Old habits die hard I guess. Curious if it's just "used to FFXI/1.0 = legacy, used to WoW = Standard" or something.
I prefer to spin my character around with right mouse click. This feels way better to me in PVP imo. Not sure why we're debating a preference.
Sure healers don't have to face their targets to heal or buff. But I also nuke as well and if a monster or player decides to change positions while I'm casting it just feels more natural to me to hold the right mouse click and turn toward the target to maintain the cast. This is after 6 years of XI and a couple of shitty months in 1.0.
I also like sliding sideways while finishing off a heal or nuke it looks neat lol.
From what little I played on Legacy, the camera was one of the worst things. Was so happy to see it get changed in 2.0. Moving out of enemy attacks and choosing the direction you are facing can feel a little rigid at first, but once you learn to do it with RMB it's no biggie at all.
Because I still see people backpedaling away from AoEs and it bugs the hell out of me. I know that doesn't mean you suck at knowing your controls. If you can dodge fine on Standard: great, no problems with that (despite whatever tone I've been using so far on the issue). But I'd rather the average shmuck be able to dodge and live without turning than the opposite.
Haha ya, guess my hp is now high enough I can survive my n00bishness. The rock thing was making me laugh. I love it, though, because I always think "welp I can't fuck up for a few seconds!"
I still don't know how to handing the X bombs when titan wants to be a dick and send a landslide at my safe spot.
hahaha. My thought process, "don't let them think you are a noob, don't let them think you are a noob, HOLY FUCK YOU ARE SUCH A NOOB."
Now I get to farm cm today. XD
I see this a lot during what I call the spiral bomb formation. People dropping like flies because he landslides then the bombs go off. All you need to do is wait for the blue lines of the landslide to vanish then you can just step right into the landslide and not take the damage or knockback.
The tone of this sentence irks me. Unless you have it on? To me this is like saying "Using a controller is fine as long as you only move, but once you start doing things it doesn't work unless you configured the buttons."This. Legacy works fine as long as you only cast friendly spells, but once you start mixing it up it just doesn't work unless you have auto-facing on.
So you standard users can't attack enemies while looking in a different direction? For example the stone vigil second boss I continuously attack the boss that's near the entrance with my camera facing the cannons so I can quickly and easy choose the correct one when the dragon comes down. Please tell me I'm understanding wrong and that you can actually do that.
This is probably the part causing all the confusion here. Indeed, I'm talking about character direction, not camera direction. You cannot change character direction without moving when using Legacy, and moving breaks your cast, yet you have to change character direction to track a moving target during a cast.
The reason auto-face is annoying is it causes undesirable changes in movement when you're trying to kite or otherwise cast on the move.
