Question Regarding Repairing Gear

I'm having trouble understanding a component of the repair system. It was my understanding that if you repaired something to 100% (meaning you or someone else repairs it with a craft), it allowed you to put it up on the auction house.

I have a piece of gear I crafted and wore for a while. I repaired it to 100%, go to sell it at the broker, and it's telling me that it's "bound" to me still and has it grayed out in my inventory. I thought repairing it to 100% removed that binding for the soul purpose of selling it?

No, SE determined that making Materia more scarce, gear worth adding materia to more scarce, and all items becoming bound to their owner a good idea.
