I used to collect Star Wars action figures. Would wake up and hit up Walmart early morning on weekends to get access to e boxes. Sold all of them. Over a 100!

I've gotten into MTG lately, but I don't really collect that so much as buy packs for fun. The difference being I don't go out of my way to get whole sets, etc.

I definitely collect Legos, though. I don't go out of my way to get entire theme sets, because they're expensive and I can't afford it. But I've been buying what I can (and getting them as gifts, of course) as far back as I can remember. In fact, almost all of my earliest memories involve Legos. I just took a bunch of photos for my insurance/family, once I sort through them and get them uploaded I'll post them.

Edit: I build a lot of kits (Mostly Star Wars), but what I find most enjoyable is just building my own stuff. These two are my most recent projects, and the only ones left assembled.

The Enforcer. I don't actually have a name for it yet, but I built it as my alter-ego's personal ship. It's not done yet, either. It's supposed to be really old, which is why I used a bunch of splotchy colors. It started life as a system-defense SWAT-team transport ship. They'd use it for everything from customs patrols to area-denial (park it over a city block and shoot anything that moves). That was a LONG time ago, though. It's been heavily modified with all sorts of goodies. It's not particularly fast, but is very maneuverable. Lots of moving parts in this one, but nothing mechanical. Motors take up too much space.

    http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...901_112039.jpg
Fighter. Again, I don't really have a name for it, but this one is done. This is a small, single-man fighter designed for my alter-ego. This one is old, too, but it's not as splotchy because it's easier to maintain. The thrusters in the rear articulate, so they can move away from the center of mass to provide better agility. The stabilizers under the wings deploy for enhanced in-atmosphere control and better targeting telemetry (small sensors embedded in the tips). Very fast and maneuverable, lightly armored, lightly shielded (but not naked, like the Tie Fighter), heavily armed.

You should be able to see a lot of my still-assembled kits in the background. Some of my older projects should be visible in other albums, going back ~10 years. The oldest look much more horrible than their designs really were, as I didn't bother with color-scheming until ~7 years ago. I hadn't intended to show them to anyone but my parents, so I just grabbed the part I wanted and didn't fuss about what color it was, because:
    Spoiler: show

One of the older builds is a pretty decent example of how I come up with ideas: You can see chunks from several different kits bashed together. Train cars serve as passenger seating, an MTT serves as a drone/hangar bay, the nose from Boba Fett's ship serves as a weapons way, etc.

My most treasured collection is the entire set of Calvin and Hobbes except for the super rare teaching with Calvin and Hobbes educational material book. I plan on passing it down to my children one day as my aunt/uncle have done for my nephews.

Although for more casual collecting, I collect hockey jerseys. Anything Large or smaller at a flea market, garage sale, or Pittsburgh craigslist I generally pick up. Got a few weird ones.

I don't have any pictures right now but I have a very large MTG collection, a DVD/Bluray collection I am at about 700 movies I think, and I also have a camera collection.
    Spoiler: show

MTG collection in the spoiler. That is 10 1,600 count boxes and 3 of the big flat boxes I forget how much they hold I think they are 10k cards each. My collection has grown quite a bit since this pic too.

I also have a really big baseball card collection from when I was a kid but I don't actively collect them anymore.

I used to collect Transformers back in the day but god damn it's expensive. I've sold most of mine though due to needing funds. Same with game console collection. I did sell my TG16 and 3DO but still pretty much have a lot of my classics including Atari 2600/7800

Old games/consoles. Most of them are packed up and stored away until I'm done with the game room. I still have my NeoGeo CD and my NeoGeo cartridge system.

I used to collect a lot of things that were game-related, but I eventually stopped gathering miscellaneous knick-knacks, disposed of them, and resolved to only possess things that were either personally meaningful to me or truly collectible. This utilitarian turn means that I only gather and display things that I enjoy seeing and speaking about. Not much of it has value, though some things do, such as a sequential series of cells from the opener of the 1993 "Sonic the Hedgehog" animated series. They used to hang in SEGA's offices, and have a certificate of authenticity to prove as much. I've a few other things, like a SEGA Dreamcast Letterman jacket, which were only made and distributed among the employees who assisted in the system's launch. Museum pieces, if you will—items whose histories I can lovingly go on and on about.

I collected trading cards during the period of about 1999-2004. I'd started buying odd sets for TV shows like Xena, Buffy, Stargate etc. in 1999 but then the Lord of the Rings came out and for 3 years I collected each subsequent set of cards. It must have set me back at least £5,000 or more back then. It petered out and the last set I have is from one of the Harry Potter films. Sadly they're all not worth as much as they were then.

I also have three Weta statues from Lord of the Rings, Gandalf on Shadowfax, Sauron, and Ringwraith.
    And a replica of Sting
    Spoiler: show

Sadly, when I moved February, I broke one of Gandalf's hands off and bits of Sauron's armour keep falling off whenever I move it. They're heavy buggers.

I almost forgot. I also have a book collection of a sort. When I was a wee girl back in 1990 I was introduced to Star Trek: The Next Generation via a book called Metamorphosis. It started my journey into sci-fi and I collected over 50 of the books, and some Deep Space Nine and Voyager ones too, plus adaptations of the films. I would get £10 pocket money a month off my grandad (the only pocket money I would get) and I would save it for when a book came out. Later on in life I had to hide my collection from my mum who went on a bender in my late teens and threatened to chuck out anything of mine that was 'weird'. I've never forgiven her for throwing out my childhood copies of the three Lord of the Rings books (from the 80's).

I have some manga sets too, Battle Royale, Death Note, Getbackers, X, Tokyo Babylon and more.

Edit: Oooh I found some pics of those Lord of Rings books that got chucked, I loved them so much: http://lotrscrapbook.bookloaf.net/ga...s/pages/70.htm

Used to collect coins. I've kept some, but don't really accumulate any more.

I've only got a few interesting items:

    - 5 french cents from 1855, Napoleon III era. Mint mark A, so it was minted in Paris.
Not worth much (it's not really rare and mine is fully oxydized - the bronze has turned completely green).
    Found in the garden.

    - 1 french franc from 1845, Louis-Philippe I era. Mint mark B, so minted in Strasbourg IIRC.
Not worth much either, as it's been "found" with a shovel, so it's dented. Still, it's 90% silver, so always worth at least ~3.5$ melted.

But anyway, they're nice pieces of History. Strange to think that within those 10 years, it's gone from King Louis-Phillipe I to Emperor Napoleon III... and in between, there was the second republic.

    - Plenty of old belgian coins, quite a few from the era where they had a hole in the middle for some reason. One of them could be worth ~40$ (5 cents 1931).

Dude that's a badass looking space tanker, makes me wanna get back into legos. Sadly I mostly had castle stuff so I could never make any super cool giant space beasts like that...I also don't really have much space to display the stuff I'd build. Lego is also painfully expensive at times, but then again all collecting hobbies usually are.

Overall, I'm just a really big kid as I collect pretty much all the toys I grew up with. Only in modern, more badass versions. I mostly focus on modern Transformers and G.I. Joes, but I also grab a lot of random Japanese and video game figures or whatever else I happen to see that looks cool. I'm not the type to feel compelled to buy all of a line or get something just because it's rare, I only grab what I like and what I feel would be fun to play with (they are toys after all). man, i got so lucky in my parents. my mom and i didnt get along well when i was a teenager, but the worst she ever did was slam my computer (which i paid for with my own money) monitor around and bruise the screen. I make her use that monitor for her office computer now, hah. other than occasionally taking away my vidya, my parents always supported my hobbies, especially Legos.

I don't know much about G.I. Joe, but those Cobra Forces look awesome.

I think I'm fairly lucky as far as my parents are concerned, all they ever told me was to do my schoolwork. Then again, I didn't really collect anything when I was a kid and didn't even get an allowance for most of my childhood since I didn't want one and whenever I wanted something I could ask my parents.

Things changed rapidly a few months before I left home, as I started collecting merchandise related to videogames, though I mainly focused on Touhou Project, which I still do, since my income is still limited and I'd like to finish this first.
Right now, I collect Doujinshi, games, CDs, various DVDs, figures, plushies, tapestries and other things.

Also, boxes, lots and lots of boxes. This is the second spot I use for storing - I already filled another spot completely and the third one won't last much longer. I'm not sure where I can store them after that.
