I would suggest running Wanderer's Palace for some sets, for your class specific relic pre-cursor item, and for tokens. Then after making sure you finish the main story quest, start working towards your relic. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rn-Walkthrough will show you how to get started.

Ampador Keep bosses have a bit of a gear and skill check. You will die to the second boss if you don't have dps, and you will probably die to the second boss if someone has to learn the fight. That said, I did end up clearing it with two fresh lvl 50 dps so it's possible to get it done with enough competent players. Find people who are good at it and be friends, because it's the first dungeon that drops the tokens to buy ilvl90 gear(40 per run) and you'll be running it a lot.

As people have mentioned Ifrit is actually pretty easy, especially with paladins to stun his aoe's. I find it's less of a crapshoot to use duty finder for hard mode ifrit than it is for AKeep.

Other than that, keep an eye out for behemoth and odin pops. They are fate pops in coearthas and central shroud. 5 kills will net you enough to trade in for an item at mor dhona.

This^ is soooo important for SCH/SMN to think about. I was bitching with a few people in linkshell chat not realizing that I have horribly gimp subs until I read some BG posts about swiftcast and raging strikes. This is definitely #1 priority on my todo list.

You're supposed to be able to do Ifrit in fresh (Warrior) 50 gear, right? I've got maybe a 50% track record and keep failing, usually after a healer (or two... but that's sort of moot) doesn't manage to dodge Radiant Plume, or the Paladin misses a stun (and then another and then another), or stuff like that. It's getting a little frustrating but I don't know how much of it is because I'm too difficult to keep above water.

On that note, Ifrit does actually build stun resistance right? I was in one run where the paladin seemed to randomly stun everything but it didn't seem to affect things toward the end. Maybe he didn't randomly stun enough things?

You're going to have a more difficult time, but Ifrit's lesson in FFXIV's textbook is "Pattern Recognition". Take a video of Phase2 after the nails, or watch one that is already made and you'll see what I mean.

As far as stun, a Paladin can pretty much keep Ifrit from building any resistance by themselves by rotating CC effects.

I'm fairly comfortable with the fight itself; haven't gotten hit by the dodgable stuff in a while. Sadly enough the first time I did it I won despite like getting hit by everything the tank CAN be hit by at least once, lol. If I die and the rest of the raid isn't on its way out anyway, I usually die the moment after Inferno (been mitigating that somewhat with Convalescence/Thrill of Battle). I'm assuming it's because the healers are trying to HEAL EVERYONE at that precise moment.

I forgot that Paladins have 2 interrupts (or more?). Do you have to do one with Eruption and another with Plume, or is it either works (I'm assuming in this case, Spirits when you can and Shield Bash when you can't)?

You missed the point, especially if you're tanking.

Watch a video of Phase 2.

Paladin has 1 stun and 1 pacification, but they can also reset stun dr with silence.

Church, I'm a little fuzzy on the games underlying mechanics so far, but for Diminishing returns of stun and whatnot, would simply covering one Eruption with a Blunt Arrow be enough to get stun to resets?

Are you just talking about his Plume and Eruption pattern? I noticed that a while ago but I'm assuming it's not really something I have to deal with (other than being in the right place)... I only have 1 stun and I've been worried about said diminishing returns since I don't know how exactly they work as well.

When I said "I die right after Inferno" I literally mean the 10 seconds after Inferno from Ifrit's breath/regular strikes and not getting enough cures to last through them. lol

Edit: If you're talking about the pacification from Shield Swipe, I'm not tanking as a Paladin, just curious as to what they can be doing.

On Warrior you can still stun both eruptions in Phase 2, but I find Brutal Swing to be really laggy so you kind of have to sit on it when you know it's coming, that's why understanding the phases and rotation is still important. You will require someone else to reset the DR though in the case of someone else doing a stun effect.
