You could run Titan in that but I'd get DL body and hands first for some more VIT. I dunno if 3.2k is enough to take a bomb hit and it's always nice to have that option available as a just in case (people misplacing landslides can mean having to eat one through no fault of your own).

Well I plan to get full DL before titan but that 3.2k is solo so don't forget about the VIT bonus in PT wit htank

Militia head, legs and feet are better than DL unless you're gearing up for Coil (in which case you'll appreciate the accuracy on DL). They should also be a lot cheaper. I forgot about party VIT bonus so you might actually be fine as is.

Cap crit and DTR then fill out with Skill Speed. Might be able to hit acc caps in coil with accuracy over skill speed but probably easier with DL (and the extra VIT is helpful).

One of the problems with using stuff like militia and other lower ilvl gear is even if they have more useful stats (like crit over skill speed) compared to DL, the end-all for damage increase is still STR, which can't be raised beyond what the ilvl allows.

If you look at Valk's damage calculators you'll see just how much of an increase in something like crit needs to be in order to keep up with even a small amount of STR.

Yes, and as I said, Militia Head, Subligar and Caligae all provide a bigger DPS boost than DL.

Not that I know of. What I've been doing is googling items like "militia subligar lodestone", most of the time it'll bring up a character with them equipped in the first few results but it's failed me a couple times. Too lazy to finish the melds since I rarely get to play MNK atm but should give you an idea:

FFXIV libra has HQ stats if you have anything that can dl it.

Are DoT's really worth ?

When i use parser (FFXIV-APP):

- When using full DoT (all 3), my DPS is pretty high but the average damage is really low (often behind other DD).
- When i use only one combo, the one on the side, my DPS is lower (but same as the others DD in the pty, maybe a tiny bit higher), but the average damage is pretty high (often on top of DD)

I also feel that i'm dealing more damage using side combo in loop and whenever it's up; buff and the 2 free TP skills (howling fist and steel peak).

I'm not a math guy so maybe it's just a feeling and i'm wrong. I can't test the other parser as it's only in english/japanese.

Since the last few updates, they are count, as i checked they are taken into the count, maybe it's still no fully correct tho.

Yeah DoTs aren't tracked in the battle log so the best parsers can do for now is estimate the total damage. It's just a simple case of looking at the potencies though. All 3 DoTs are pretty far ahead of everything else we have, so assuming they last the full duration they work out significantly stronger, especially Touch of Death.

Tempted to sell off crystals (if there's still a strong market) to fund some HQ Militia stuff, but I'd like reaffirmation it's worth it for the content that I'd be facing when compared with other alternatives. Just hit 50, and I'm still on the Cape Westwind mission.

Currently using full MNK AF, HQ Wilding Cesti, and various HQ/dungeon accessories. Seems kinda difficult to research gear options in this game, but at the moment my best options seem to be HQ Militia or working on Darklight.

Also, in regards to materia - do you still risk blowing up your armor the more you add to it (or am I misremembering this...)? What's a relatively safe number of materia to put onto a piece of armor without it being considered a serious risk?

You can research all your gear options on xivdb.com. You no longer lose the item or attached materia on fails so it's much safer. You can put on 2 or 5, all up to you and your wallet.

After getting my HQ Pants and wasting millions on materia melding only to get the allagan pants 3 days after it, F Gryphonskin, used the philosophy tomestones I got to get my BLM her relic and Darklight instead ,I'll save the gil to buy a house when housing is implemented.

If you're doing Coil and have other jobs, don't waste your money on that unless your pockets are brimming with gil.
