So what kind of accessories should I be aiming for for MNK? Are Gryphonskin rings (what would I meld to them) better than Allagan accessories?

Well, I did that, quintuplemelded them with 3 IV's and 2 III's and the next coil dropped them.
It's up to you really, I haven't seen another MNK drop since and it's been a month+, last week we got 4 BRD drops (2 in turn 2 and 2 in turn 4), you can get the Gryphonskin pants and have the same thing that happened to me, or not see them for 5+ weeks, it's a gamble.
So the general upgrade priority with Mythology Tomes after getting Relic weapon is:
+1 Relic => AF Feet => AF Body => Hero Neck of Slaying => Hero Ring of Slaying?
Or should I +1 then get accessories after? Giving myself things to do while the rest of my people get caught up for Coil.
Pretty sure Allagan feet and AF are exactly the same stats so I wouldn't spend mythos on feet considering you could get Allagan from turn 4(?) or earlier. +1 relic > accessories > body seems smartest to me. Consider also getting AF head, since while Allagan head might put out more damage with determination, AF has higher crit rate and accuracy. Not sure which is better, but both seem useful depending on else you have.
You can run coil at the very least with full DL and relic as MNK, getting AF as you need it based on drops.
I got the head piece first since I needed the acc to cap. Debating if I want to get the body . . . . so many ToM . . . . aaaaaggghh
Is there a stablished BiS gear set?
I've tried some sets in xivdb's wardrobe and I've ended up with 2 pretty similar sets (10 crit vs 10 skill speed), both pre turn 5 since I don't see it being farmable soon, the first one has all but the body/head (which I already have) being allagan drops, while the latter one has the neck/ring also from tomestones of mythology
Second one is easier to get since you can grab myth gear while also getting allagan drops, but 10 crit is better than 10 speed.
I don't know what to spend my myth tomestones on, I'm sitting on 511 atm :<
The two main numbers we want to hit are ~470 Accuracy and 491 Skill Speed. The rest are important too, but their availability is limited to the items that can still get us those first two breakpoints. With that in mind, the best "best-in-slot" gear list I could come up with is this:
Base Stats (Lalafell ♀ Dunesfolk):
- 261 STR
- 199 VIT
- 341 ACC
- 341 CRIT
- 202 DET
- 341 Skill Speed
Weapon: Sphairai +1
Head: Melee Circlet
Chest: Melee Cyclas
Hands: Melee Gloves
Legs: Allagan Trousers of Striking
Feet: Allagan Sollerets of Striking (or use AF2)
Waist: Allagan Tassets of Striking
Neck: Hero's Necklace Of Slaying
Ears: Allagan Earrings of Maiming (or use Hero's Earrings Of Slaying)
Wrist: Allagan Bracelets of Maiming
Ring1: Allagan Ring of Maiming
Ring2: Hero's Ring Of Slaying
Food: Eft Steak
Final Stats:
- 482 STR
- 387 VIT
- 473 ACC
- 454 CRIT
- 258 DET
- 494 Skill Speed
Maybe someone else can wiggle the available gear choices around a bit further to wring some more determination out of them while still having enough accuracy/speed, but this seems good to me.
Is speed somehow better than crit for MNKs? I've yet to see any conclusive in depth testing, I'm focusing on crit
Weapon: Sphairai +1
Head/Chest: AF2
Legs/Feet/Waist: Allagan
Earring: Allagan Earring of Striking
Neck: Allagan Choker of Maiming
Wirst: Allagan Bracelets of Maiming
Rings: Allagan Ring of Maiming/Striking
Stats without food
470 ACC
486 CRIT
251 DET
447 Skill Speed
Edit: just noticed the Bracelets drop in Turn 5, bleh.
Do we have tiers of what our timers will be with GL3 up and that's why?
At ~491 skill speed, your GCD gets low enough that you can use True Strike every other rotation instead of Twin Snakes without having the buff drop off early. It lets you replace a (including the 10% buff here) 154-potency attack with a 165-potency one which also has a crit% bonus, so it's overall more DPS.
That said, I'm not sure how that compares to a max-DET build and ignoring True Strike.
The only way I can see Skill Speed being useful is if there's a threshold where you have enough speed to use True Strike efficiently without Twin Snakes buff falling off mid combo, right now I use it on very specific situations, If I have to renew a DoT/Move a bit I'll just do Twin Snakes, otherwise it'll wear off by the time I'm doing Dragon Kick, meaning I lose 10% DMG on 1-2 WS. Even if I don't have to move, fitting in True Strike in the rotation is way too tight, more often than not Twin Snakes buff wears off at the same time I reapply it without doing anything else but stance combos, that's with 459 skill speed
EDIT: Post above answered it, though I don't know if it just lets you do it without renewing dot's or not (Ie, can you fit in True strike if you have to renew Demolish+Fracture? or do you only have time to do stance WSs?)
Also, having to have food buff at all times to do it is kinda meh' D:
As you approach 494 skill speed, do you start to have TP issues? I'm currently at 441 and in drawn out fights, start to suffer from 0TP. I also have no idea how TP regen works in this game (fixed #/tick? %/tick? auto-attacks restore TP? idk!)
