Typically how I do it is:
Are we not AoEing? Start doing single target combo.
Are you killing slow enough to get GLIII on first mob? Start using DoTs on new mobs.
Killing faster than GLIII or GLIII right as mob dies? ToD at start then stick to Snap Punch.
You can start every fight with ToD if you want but a lot of the times you'll lose GLIII between pulls so I would argue it's better damage to start your chain combo sooner for quicker GLIII.
I basically never use DoTs on trash mobs, the damage difference is practically nothing so I don't think it's worth the hassle, some mobs will die before the DoT runs out. It's only worth it if you're a fresh 50 and you're killing stuff slow enough, 40-60 extra skill potency per pull it's that much for having to juggle between targets all the time.
Pugilist:
- Bootshine Potency has been increased from 130 to 150.
- True Strike Delivering the attack from behind will no longer increase critical hit chance, but will instead deliver an attack with a potency of 190.
- Bootshine Potency has been increased from 130 to 150. True Strike Delivering the attack from behind will no longer increase critical hit chance, but will instead deliver an attack with a potency of 190. Internal Release Critical hit rate increase has been reduced from 20% to 10%. However, this change does not affect benefits granted by the trait Enhanced Internal Release.
- Twin Snakes Increased damage duration has been extended from 12 to 15 seconds.
- Demolish In addition to dealing damage over time, now delivers an attack with a potency of 30. 70 potency when attacking from behind.
- Greased Lightning Damage bonus has been increased from 7% to 9%.
- Greased Lightning II Damage bonus has been increased from 14% to 18%.
- Greased Lightning III Damage bonus has been increased from 21% to 27%.
Monk:
- Shoulder Tackle Recast time has been reduced from 90 to 30 seconds.
- One Ilm Punch Potency has been increased from 80 to 120.
Holy shit. Bootshine 130 -> 150, True Strike 150 -> 190, Demolish 240 -> 310 (behind), 27% deeps on GL3 and 30 sec CD on Shoulder Tackle.

Well shit, now you have no excuse to ignore True Strike. The extra 3 seconds on Twin Snakes will help that immensely too.
One Ilm will be great in PvP at least. B4B got nerfed too, forgot to post:
- Blood for Blood Damage bonus has been reduced from 20% to 10%. However, this change does not affect benefits granted by the trait Enhanced Blood for Blood.
None of the MRD changes affect MNK from what I can see. There is this...
- Enmity generated has been increased. Recast time has been reduced from 60 to 40 seconds.
But even as a WAR main I have no fucking clue what it's referencing. Maybe Infuriate but it's under MRD not WAR (which is labelled as "Defiance" rofl) so who knows. Either way B4B and ambiguous IR change seem to be our only MNK nerfs.
Edit: Oh these are buffs too I guess:
Allagan Sollerets of Striking
Before: STR+18, VIT+20, Skill Speed+21, Critical Hit Rate+15
After: STR+18, VIT+20, Determination+15, Skill Speed+15
Allagan Earrings of Maiming
Before: STR+13, Accuracy+16, Skill Speed+11
After: STR+13, Accuracy+16, Determination+8
Boots are so-so... pretty sure its a DPS increase and earrings are definitely much better.
I don't think Internal Release is nerfed for us, like B4B isn't nerfed for DRG.
It's not, it'll still be 30% with the trait.
Yeah hoping that's the case, really shitty wording though, but I guess the description for traits makes it clear ("ups buff to 30%" rather than "increases by 10%"). My WAR will miss that 10% but at least Inner Beast heal is way less reliant on damage output.
The way the "enhanced [ability]" traits are worded they should only be nerfed for cross-class usage.
The traits don't say "increase [thing] by [amount]" they "increase [thing] to [amount]".
B4B and IR changes are meant as nerfs to BRD.
Some nice changes, even if I just started figuring out Monk two days ago.
Basically Internal Release is worse for everyone but MNK now.
This is like Christmas coming a week early. Our DPS is WAYYYYYYYYYYY higher now. It's unreal.
They buffed True Strike to be the like strongest non-combo WS in the game and they buffed Demolish, which was already the second strongest move in the arsenal.
Love the change to Shoulder Tackle. You can easily keep up Greased Lightning up in dungeons by zipping around like the Flash. This job just got infinitely more fun.
I'm so happy cause I have Allagan Maiming Earrings so that's another increase to my DPS.
That said, I'm not happy in the slightest about the changes to Allagan Feet. Seems like a DPS loss and I'm probably going to have to throw down for Melee Shoes now :/
15 DTR is definitely better than 15 crit. Pretty sure it is worth the 6 skill speed trade off.
It's confirmed that the dev's do not play this game, jesus fuck. No one is going to play anything but monk next patch, monk is already top DPS but only when played by a competent player and every other DPS that isn't DRG can compete. Right now all DPS except DRG are pretty much completely balanced, why the fuck are they shitting all over this games balance? Are they fucking retarded?
Because retards yelled for BRD nerf and buffs to all other DPS the last few months. After finally playing Monk, I can say, it is FAR easier then BRD and my shit-ass wp/ak/allagan Monk is already getting pretty close in DPS to my BRD.
No, monk is not easier than bard. What are you talking about? Bard is the most face roll DPS in the game, and probably one of the easiest classes I've seen in a MMORPG, only paladin having an easier rotation but has to tank and tanking makes it more difficult than bards rotation in some situations.
Bard needed zero nerfs to it's actual damage, it only needed cast times added to some of it's attacks because the only reason it did competitive damage was due to the fact it never lost damage by moving and had 100% uptime due to being ranged. This was a change that needed to be done before 2.1 to make sure that PVP was actually enjoyable as well.
