This is what I'm leaning towards working to for MNK eventually considering the items I have. http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/LPA1

The only items I'm missing for this are Allagan Feet and gloves and ring of striking.
It keeps both crit and det pretty high but I wonder if the det is too low. With this I can keep using Buttons though.

Ofcourse, if I get lucky I might eventually swap vortex for maiming ring though, for 11 more det to have 484acc, 504crit and 317 det with hq buttons

Hero's Belt is pretty bad, I think.

If you use Allagan Belt, then switch from Maiming Bracelets to Hero's Bracelets, you lose no accuracy, but gain 5 Crit and 8 Det.

That's true but I did say considering the gear I have
It's already a gamble if I'll ever see feet and hands drop, so I just left belt out for now.
THings can always change if Ig et lucky on drops.
Not that I've been unlucky up till now.

So I'm trying to consolidate macro space somewhat, and I tried putting all flank into 1 button and all rear into another.

    /micon "Bootshine"
    /ac "Demolish" <t>
    /ac "True Strike" <t>
    /ac "Bootshine" <t>

and occasionally I would get bootshine firing off when demolish is supposed to be next... is there something to fix that? Same problem if I try to just only have something like dragon kick+twin snakes together only and leave out snap on a seperate macro... dragon kick would fire off instead of twin snakes.

If you mash it really hard, you will probably skip lines and get the Opo move sometimes. Had that problem so needed to stay full manual.

You could slightly consolidate by having Raptor+Coeurl macro'd

I have Bootshine alone and then Demo/True in one macro(with Howling/Mercy under them as well).

    Same for DK, and Twin/Snap/Howl/Mercy

You can't queue abilities while using macros - you are basically giving yourself negative skill speed by using macros.

Yes, you are. .001 negative skill speed. Clearly I should be gearing skill speed over crit/det as well.

I have to agree with the guy about this one. Manual mashing, you have 0.5s grace period to press the button and skill will go off as soon as it comes out of cooldown. Using macros you have to press the macro spot on to not lose any DPS.
I resolved this by using hardware macros instead of the in game ones (if you have gaming mouse or keyboard) – they let you keep the 0.5s grace timer and use a sequence of actions at the same time. Plus, no hard coded retarded /wait 1,2,3,4… second reastriction.
But that’s talking min-maxing. I doubt anyone would notice you playing the inferior way in the real in-game situation.
If I didn’t have hardware macros, I’d use in game ones to play BRD, but definitely not MNK or DRG.

I set up the macro as follows, it doesn't fully remove the problem, but it does reduce misfires a noticeable amount for me:

    /micon "Bootshine"
    /ac "Demolish" <t>
    /ac "True Strike" <t>
    /ac "Demolish" <t>
    /ac "True Strike" <t>
    /ac "Bootshine" <t>

Trying to add more repeats seems to make misfires worse though. I didn't try out any other sequences to see if something better exists.

I dunno how to say this but... Don't macro your MNK, holy shit guys that's terrible. MNK isn't so hard to play you need a convoluted macro that maybe kinda works in order to be good. Just press buttons manually and have the freedom to use whatever you want when the situation calls for it.

Seriously, i had the macros when i was lvling from 47-49, and i soon dropped them cuz i was so used to manual button presses. I have an extremely unorthodox key layout for my mnk attacks, but hey, it works.

Had macros too, but not because mnk is hard. I have small hands and i find reaching over 5 on the keyboard to be quite annoying, so i did demo/true/boot all-in-one too. However, misfires were soooo pissing me that i remaped Q and E (and alt/ctrl corresponding) as hotkeys and it's way easier to reach AND way cleaner to have 1 ability per key.

Yeah, I have Q/E as Boot/DK, 1/2 as Twin/True, 3/4 as Snap/Demo. Even with large hands I find reaching over to 5 annoying and only do it on any job for rare-use moves like Mercy Stroke or Miasma II.

I'm sort of repeating what everyone else has said with only slightly more detail, but having the Opo-opo stance moves on a different button is probably the best idea. I think Raptor and Couerl abilities only fire if you are in Raptor or Coeurl, but Bootshine (and presumably Dragon Kick? I'm only 44 (*'-')) can fire anytime, so you're going to have periodic misfires regardless of what you try to do with that particular macro. That's probably costing you more DPS than it's worth.

I play on a gamepad so I have Bootshine on one button, then Twin/Snap on another ("flank" button), and True/Demolish on a third one ("rear"). Dragon Kick will probably have to go on a fourth, separate button.

I don't know why people think making macros is because something is hard or people aren't capable of hitting more buttons. It seriously has 0 difference in terms of actual numbers, as it's been tested that unless you are retarded, there is a negligible loss in time or dps by using macros over "pre-loading". I do it simply to conserve space. People try way too hard to feel special because they don't use macros. Use w/e you want if it helps you play better.

I agree with the above though. Having Boot/DK on their own button will avoid any possible misfires.

This seems to be a sensitive topic for you. It has nothing to do with DPS and everything to do with how sloppy they are. Why aren't you consolidating something that makes sense rather than your actual DPS rotation?

Saving space etc, I play on controller so I dunno those woes... right?

Speaking as a Cross Bar user, what extra crap do you have bound that requires you to conserve space? I have Fists/Second Wind/Featherfoot/Feint/Fracture/Shoulder Tackle/Limit Break on the L+R menu and everything else fits perfectly fine on one palette.

It's pretty annoying to constantly see people bring up pre-loading skills as something important, when it has zero significance. Considering the first couple responses directly said, you are lowering your dps with macros, obviously some people think it does have to do with dps.

    When this is the comment;

yea, I get annoyed, because this is a stupid as fuck comment.

Instead of people constantly saying, NO Macros, they are terrible, you suck if you use them, etc, people should try helping people make better macros. There is zero ways my macros hurt my dps on Monk and it's actually even dumber to claim they would then it is to claim macros hurt BRD.

    /micon "Snap Punch"
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t>
    /ac "Mercy Stroke" <t>
    /ac "Howling Fist" <t>

That's my macro, and another for the backside, demo/true. What's the point in having an extra button to hit? or an extra 3 in this case? Why make your rotation 11 buttons just for attacks when it could be 7? There is no way it messes me up or is sloppy in any way. I make sure to hit the button early if HF/MS are ready, so I can still get my next move off, or I just wait until the gcd is rdy and double tap. Yes, leaving Bootshine/Dragon Kick in the macro would be sloppy, but that's why I keep telling people to help improve macros, not just dismiss them and say they are bad.

For perfect balance I have an entire different set of buttons to just manually click on, in order, so I don't have to think about it.
