So with the patch they changed the gloam boots, I suppose this 12 det is better than 18 crit?
New BIS? http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MCNO
Also has anyone been parsing their damage on turn 7 by chance? Curious to see how much overall damage people are doing for turn 7. On my group's first kill I only did about 153k, last night on our second I was able to push that to about 176k.
Those pieces are really close, if I get the HA boots I dont think id waste a SoT on the Gloam.
don't both boots and sands drop from turn 8? At that point you're playing a game of do i get a sand after upgrading chest/pants/belt before the boots drop.
But if we are talking a BIS list then upgrading from the allagan boots to gloam would still be considered an upgrade. I wouldn't really suggest taking a sands over somebody who doesn't have 110 boots, but if everyone does why not then?
MNKs who have cleared Turn 8:
Worth using the Soldiery & Sand to get and upgrade Glanzfaust?
Or it better to just use the Solidery & Sand on other things. I'm sitting on a mountain of Sol trying to figure out what to do with it. The way my group works is that there's a sliding order for Sands so if I decide to Sand the weapon, then I'm just sitting around at the end of the line for a Sand unless other people in front of me take an oil.
Can't go wrong w/ weapon damage dude. I can't wait for my static to start clearing t8, my first priority is to sand the glanzfaust. Assuming i get everything. I'm also saving up my soldiery.
Yeah but I can't help but shake the feeling of "Hey I could've bought boots + 2 accessories and upgraded my Tabbard!" everytime I think about the weapon.
And then I say to myself "Hey but that weapon damage doe!" and I realize that Glanzfaust is a bigger dps upgrade than all of that so it is worth.
But then I go back to thinking "Well if I can clear turn 8, I don't really need a gear upgrade to beat turn 9 where I have a shot at getting a weapon. And if I have the weapon, I can start looking to BiS to finish out for the end of the patch's life cycle. So using the Sand on the Glanzfaust seems worthless"
And it just keeps going around in circles. I play for efficiency but I also play to be the best I can be. It's a frustrating situation.
My thought process is as follows: If you have an i100+ weapon already and there are people (DPS, specifically) in your static who don't, pass the tomestone/sand for those people and upgrade your other crap in the interim. If you don't have an i100+ weapon already, upgrade Glanzfaust first.
Kinda curious how people buying the Gloam body first are hitting things in Coil, especially without Levi knuckles or Sphairai.
If I were you, I would rather have those i110 fists for my biggest % increase towards getting a kill on T9, have High Allagan fists drop and say "ha ha guess I just wasted those 3 weeks of soldiery, at least I have these sweet i115 weapons" than to go weeks without having the fists drop at all with only my BiS chestpiece to keep me company. Or worse; lose a T8 meter in the interim.
Which cross class skill should i be using for mnk?
I mean, more DPS will help end any fight (including parts that involve DPS races for adds and such) faster so that aspect is always worth it. Glanzfaust is a big investment but unless you're beating T9 I don't see the harm in +2/4 WD as well the other stats.
Blood for Blood, Invigorate and Fracture are your main skills. The rest aren't critical to your DPS and just help you survive, so choose whatever you want after those.
Ugh, i wish i had a mirror, then i wouldn't be rushing my animus since i'm pretty sure i'll have that before even getting a mirror. Lol
This i agree with. Assuming novis will be i110, but at the same time lolskillspeed. Glanzfaust provides some crazy stats. I'm still waiting on SE to say something like SS is buffed for mnk only, cooldowns are affected. IB / B4B all over the place!
Honestly, after leveling DRG to 50 and playing with it a bit i feel like skill speed on MNK gear is intentional for balance purposes. I think SE is using that to balance TP management between the 2 classes, because i burn through my lower ilvl drg TP way faster than mnk on a good day.
Having more dps helps T9 significantly (heavensfall, ghost dragons, minimise time spent in final phase, killing golems with time to spare), not mentioning 1/9 drop rate for T9 weapon. If your priority is killing T9 asap, weapon should be your upgrade.
Though if you have Tidal Weapon already I would considering letting your other 3 dps pick up UAT/Sands first as it may be a bigger upgrade for them, and without Sands the UAT is pretty useless for you.
