I mean there's literally three pages prior to and including this one talking about how fucking dumb keeping Fracture in one's rotation is.

What's a good dps for i90(no 95 weapon) to be aiming at? I'm starting to get back into my MNK and was trying to knock some rust off yesterday on a dummy, I'm pushing 330-340. Also, if you save me a couple pages or reading since I'm at work, what's considered the best opener with PB?
i90 with 95 weapon I am getting 340-355. So seems normal. Does anyone have high skill speed that can post what that value is? I am trying to tighten my rotation but sometimes demo is reapplied 1 sec after duration same with dragon kick and TS. I think if my Skill Speed was a little higher it would make nothing fall off(for my rotation).
I logged off yesterday as MNK and my stats show skillspeed at 407 and I didn't really have an issue with buffs/DoTs falling off before I reapplied in the rotation. That was on a dummy though so no mechanics to really account for to cause gaps in using abilities
This isn't really a super big deal with how dots works - they work on a 3 second timer independent of the buff. If you have a 1 second gap - there is only a 1/3 chance that you missed a potential dot tick. You'll definately miss one dot tick over 2-3 1 second gaps but the dps loss is so minor 40 potency over every minute or so that it's not going to make a big difference.
It's hard to gauge dps with just ilvl since crafted ilvl90 gear is so much better than regular ilvl90 gear, but I feel 350~ is a bit on the low side for dummy dps. If you go into T8 you'll probably be doing 10~% less due to fight mechanics/TP restraints and that's a bit low.
For Dots yeah it's not really a big deal I just OCD over the buffs and the dots all falling off right before application. So a small SS increase might actually translate to a decent dps increase as I would be getting the benefit of the buffs on the buffs attack itself. As for i90 dps, it might be low I'm not sure, that is on a dummy with no party/food/pots x2 invig and just random i90 gear with Allagen weapon as I don't have an i90 weapon on this character for monk.. Havn't done t8 so can't offer insight to that, but I find that dummy fights with slight mechanics to move you around tend to still make my dps increase than on a dummy. You get str/food/pots, that can basically offset any downtime.
So it's official that ToD is superior to Fracture in almost every way? I haven't been playing for about half a year now, but I vaguely recall in the distant past that it was the exact opposite.
Which stats would you put on the sphairai novus?
I was thinking about DET and ACC am I doing it right?
Glanzfaust for acc+det.
Animus for crit+det.
I was thinking about this but basically won't glanzfaust stay ilvl 110? In this case and given how the acc scales on end game content wouldn't it be better to put acc on sphairai?
The Glanz will likely stay at 110, yes, but frankly we don't know how the relic is going to change from here on up. Will it somehow just scale up the stats you put on it now? The quest NPC said we're "halfway done", which seems to imply that this may also be the last stage of relic as well, so making them the same/similar would be kinda weird.
Isn't Zodiac the last stage?
Should be getting my sand this week or next, i've downed t8 in pugs but never got sand. :/ my static hasn't downed it yet so i'm still first sand. Definitely getting glanz unweathered since i'm going to be casually doing my novus, 75 days of no i110 weapon would annoy me.
Having a little trouble on turn 9 with my alt's MNK and could use some advice. I think on our kill I was hovering around 290-300 DPS at i104. In T8, I usually hover around 360-380 w/o potions. To me, both of these numbers are low (few duties on T8) so I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Earlier on in the thread, I saw how some of you utilize perfect balance. I have a rotation that I've been using and would like some input if you wouldn't mind.
Encounter starts
I use DK or BS (usually DK)
I then use TS
I wait about half a second and then PB
DK (debuff applied)
SP
SP
Demo (GL2'd demo applied w/ twin and DK debuff)
DK (DK debuff wears by this point, refresh it before applying ToD)
ToD
By this point, PB is off. I just want to know how much you all prioritize TS's buff and DK's debuff being up from the beginning? It seems like most of you want ToD and demo up ASAP but don't both do more with GL3 + twin and DK debuff?
After the initial opener, I usually get stuck in a flank flan rear or rear rear flank combo.
I use DK again after PB wears while weaving in IR
Twin to refresh the buff and weave in BFB
Demo to apply a fully buffed GL3 + BFB + IR + DK DoT while weaving in howling
BS while weaving in peak
TS
SP
DK
TS
Demo
Then it repeats. I know this isn't conventional but would really like to discuss the reasoning behind why no one does this type of thing. After dealing with CD stacking in WoW, this game has made me pretty paranoid about whether I should be staggering CDs or waiting till fully buffed to apply DoTs.
Also, any good T9 videos from MNK PoV's that you all have come across?
I come across two issues on T9:
I end up tanking the first set of golems since I use PB and BFB + IR, meaning I can't get any positional attacks off.
The last phase generally kills my TP if I have to use sprint and am not sure where it's best to use invig. I try to avoid sprint on divebombs by shoulder tackling to her but this is sometimes not feasible.
checklist:
Did I use PB ASAP?
Do I have GLx3, DK, and TS before PB ends?
It's not going to make or break your encounter DPS if your PB rotation is slightly different. However, you should be asking yourself why you wait until after twin snakes to use PB instead of immediately. If you think your DPS is low on T8, pots will carry you for a nice chunk of extra DPS, but other than that there's really no single trick anyone can tell you that will give you significant extra DPS over ~9 minutes. It's up to you to PTKFGS and tighten up your rotation. That being said, I do think X-Pots in T8 will do more for you than you think.
On T9:
Golems -- Don't really have a choice here, if you have aggro, you have aggro. You could ask a bard to burst blue golem without quelling.
Last phase -- With proper positioning and awareness, shouldn't ever have to use sprint. Divebomb indicators give you enough time to walk 70% of the arena's diameter before they go off, and there's plenty of time to walk back to the safe zone after the divebomb is set. For lunar, shoulder tackle will get you in if it's too far, and if it's too close to ST, you'll be able to walk it in. I would save invig for the emergency scenario when you have to use sprint.
Finally, does your strategy rely on stacking directly in front of Nael for thunderstruck/firescorched? This kills the monk DPS.
- Each individual stack of GL, is more important and does more than Twin Snakes or DK since it got buffed. Always put on GLx3 asap.
- Starting with DK is generally a bad idea since it's almost impossible to get the flank bonus or if you can you are waiting too long for your first attack.
- Getting an additional 1-2 ticks of Demo is more important than getting it buffed with GLx2, each tick is 40 potency, this is fight specific though some fights you won't get a chance to get to use the extra ticks of demolish
- You shouldn't really be refreshing Demolish every second rotation, assuming your GCD is 2.0~ seconds then you are removing two ticks meaning your demolish which is less damage than letting it run full duration and refreshing it every 3rd rotation.
- You shouldn't be using PB for golems - it's not a particular hard dps check and using it means you won't have it up for the start of phase 4 where dps helps if you want to skip ghosts/heavensfalls. If your group has no problems with the dps on the first golem, I will use 1-3 GCD on one of the other golems that is being tanked before moving onto blue (you have time before it starts moving).
- You can dodge divebombs without sprint but it's dependant on latency/reaction, make sure you are running perpendicular to where the the dragon is and use fists of wind. Shoulder tackle should already cover over at least 50% divebombs. There's enough downtime in phase 4 to use invig only for divebombs.
- X-Pots aren't really that big of a dea for t8l, they are like a 5min cd, very helpful for burst but over the course of a long fight at best it might be 10~ dps (3 usages over 11 minutes).
- The only thing you need to stack for in phase 4 is Fire in and thermionic beam (not really though with pets), this is like maybe 5~ seconds worth per phase? It really shouldn't kill your dps.
Refreshing buffed dots in WoW used to continue to have them buffed, you you could potentially have fully buffed dots the whole fight. This is no longer the case in WoW or FFXIV, treat DoTs exactly the same as any other skill.
360-380 is kind of low for T8 - I don't know what duties you do but without pots I can do 410-420~ at ilvl104 doing brainjack/homing misisle/towers.
PB should be used at the start of fight and post Megaflare, IMO. The only other option is post double Meteor Stream (+ Heavensfall), which you will not have any cooldowns up for if you use them on cooldown throughout the fight, so less worth it. And depending on how fast your group pushes, you get very little GL3 uptime on that segment anyway because golems come soon.
