If you get positioned funny, is it ever worth it to delay a positional until you are in place? Or should you just ride the gcd no matter what?

Just quick mental math says that if it takes you longer than about half a second to reposition, depending on the skill you're using and level of GL you're at, it's not worth it.

    Thanks for the input.

The reason I use PB at the start of the first golem phase is because it is up by the time megaflare goes off. It's an alt group so our DPS is a little low at the moment. I'm assuming this changes and PB wouldn't be up if DPS increased.

I think a big part of my low DPS is me overwriting demo's DoT too early as mentioned. Demo every other rotation will probably fix it! I think my skill speed is quite low, though, so it may result in just a little window where demo isn't up at all.

In regards to T8, perhaps it is mines that is killing my DPS. However, our main group's MNK does this and towers like I do yet is able to pull 430 or so. I'll try to find a parse.

As for T9 strategy, ours relies on stacking in the front but I know when to go in and out for fire as I'm the one calling it. I did die last week to double fire when someone told me to LB2 when I knew I shouldn't have.

I think the lesson I've taken away is: GL > DK and twin and not to overwrite demo early.

    Thanks again!

yo demo is like every 3rd cycle. you always overwrite it either as it's falling off, right after it's fallen off, or with like 3 seconds left.

Hmm - I don't think this is possible. Pretty sure golem phases are fixed? Meteors and Megaflare will start regardless if your dps is high or low.

Yep. Doesn't matter how fast you kill the golems, you'll still be waiting for Megaflare. Best PB times in T9 are the start and the phase right after Megaflare, you'll also get another PB after divebombs (though it only matters for the 1st set).

T9 is annoying because there are a lot of places to lose GL3 with nothing to do about it.

Can anyone with a random parse tell me what their Demo is averaging? Total of dps and its specific average damage. Mine is showing 5% of total and an average of 200 damage. Think I am clipping it way too soon. i90/Allagen Bangs, 337 dps parse over 5min at Behemoth in CT (training dummy style). Very little downtime, don't think any of this has to do with it but just putting in there for context.

EDIT: Hmm after clicking the "simulated dots" tab it shows Demo doing around 94 damage. So adding it would 290, still very low o.O

94 is the average damage per tick.

Oh that makes a lot more sense, also explains why the % of total dps was higher when I looked at "everything outgoing". Thanks!

Do most MNKs do this? I save PB for just after double stream: PB-Snap when she lands to maintain GL3.

Ours does it at the start as well. Ensures it's back up for 2nd golems.

PB at the start to get everything rolling.
PB at the start of heavensfall because 1 ghost is a tighter DPS check than golem snooze fest. See above comments on waiting for megaflare.

Our MNK does it at the start of the fight and at the start of Heavensfall phase so we can push 1 Ghost. He used to do it at the start of Golem phase but we eventually started to reach that part before PB was up so if he'd use it at golems, it wouldn't be ready for the Ghost phase.

Interesting. The way I figure it:

    - If you PB at the start, you're guaranteed to lose GL3 after double streams.
    - If you build GL3 the old-fashioned way and save PB for double streams, you can keep GL3 the whole phase.

Either way, PB will be ready at the start of p3.

If you PB at double streams and your groups DPS doesn't suck it probably won't be up for start of heavensfall.

It's the same either way, the only reason I wouldn't PB at the start of the fight is because it isn't up when we engage, so I save it for after the double streams. Usually it's up after Megaflare since that's just time you can do nothing about.

We usually push into p2 after second Thermionic Beam and before Ravensbeak/Stardust (5DPS) or just after Stardust (4DPS). Golem phase is 110 seconds(?) plus another 10s or so for transition into p3. So that's about 2 minutes plus the p2 transition and the Beak>Stardust>Dive>Chariot>Beam>Dive following double streams. It has been enough time for me to PB at p3 start.

I suppose if you could push Darnus into p2 before Thermionic Beam, PB wouldn't be up in time for p3 start.

So, how fast is your p1?

As of last attempt we were sitting at about 68% at Thermionic beam with 2 i100 DPS still. This week's sand + random other upgrades will probably push it before 2nd beam.

It really doesn't matter - there is zero dps difference (mostly).

All PB does is eliminate the build up phase, if you use it at the start, you eliminate one build up phase, if you use it after double streams, you eliminate one build up phase, there is no advantage to using it after double streams to "keep" GL3.

In general it's better to use at the start because, all your CDs are up and synced, the earlier you use it the earlier it comes off cd though doesn't really matter for T9 cause ideally you want to save for phase 3 anyway.

    We do 4 DPS and before/during beam/chariot.

Hm doing it this week again in the alt group, I had 10 seconds left on the PB CD timer when she came down for the Heavensfall phase. Meaning:

-I used it at the start
-I used it on the first set of golems
-I used it 10 seconds into the HF phase

Pretty sure phase 1 will determine this but it is completely based on your group's DPS I guess. Pushing 5+ meteors = 3 PBs, 4 meteors or less is PB at start and PB in the beginning.

I used a lot of advice you all offered this week and was more satisfied with my T9 DPS. TY again.

Don't think I got targeted by bombs at all.

    I still didn't break 400 DPS in T8 but didn't use potions again. I had 396 IIRC.
