Is that 6 second wait & merged? Also DPS or EncDPS
Every parse I've seen from T9 has been set up different and there are wildly different results making it hard to compare among people

T9 is bullshit for Monks. As group gear improves, you won't be able to use PB for first golems and you don't have PB up after first set of dive bombs if you use PB to push 1 drake.
The highest I've done with a continuous, unmerged parse in T9 is ~304 DPS, which translated to about ~350 with the breaks taken out.
Tonight I had my first serious tries at T9 after almost a month only doing T6-8 due to finals... I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what, I can't keep up GL when he does streams, sometimes I do and sometimes (as in, most of the time) I'm 1~ second short and lose GL, It's really annoying, I know it's not possible when he does double streams but there shouldn't be a reason why I can't keep GL up when he only does one, is there something I'm missing? Going from 420~ dps in T8 to 250-290 on the first phase of T9 when I should be pulling 300+ easily is kinda disheartening lol
Also, is there a way to avoid losing GL if you get marked with thermionic?
For streams it's mostly about timing. Around the time dynamo/markers are coming out you should be doing nothing but 1-2-3 to keep GL up (you'll find the right time to do ToD as you get experience). Preferably you'll hit GL as she flies up, but it's also acceptable to have her fly up on raptor stance with around 6 seconds left (comes down with 2+). If you use something like ToD at the wrong time you'll most definitely lose GL. Try staggering your attacks as well if it helps.
Keep in mind that if you use Demolish, you can extend your GL time by about 2 seconds but doing this means you're essentially wasting damage if she flies up before the debuff is applied (but doing this means you keep GL). Practice more and get the rhythm down, I only lose GL on single streams if I'm doing something stupid as hell beforehand.
For Thermionic it depends on your group and where Darnus lands, assuming everyone stacks in the middle. So usually I save Shoulder Tackle for when she jumps and does chariot, get close to her and smack her with whatever you want, run out of chariot range and then run in again, using the next attack at max range then going back to the group. Use FoW if you aren't feeling confident.
If you are NOT marked for beam:
Dive > tackle > attack > move out for Chariot > move in for 1-2 more attacks and disregard beam > Dive > return to tanking spot
If you are marked for beam:
Dive > tackle > attack > move out from Darnus and into the group for beam > Beam > Dive > return to tanking spot
You must get at least one attack in between dives for GL to survive.
As Elcura said, it takes a little practice to get the timing down for first stream. The form you are in doesn't matter when she takes off as long as you are in a GL cycle that wasn't interrupted by ToD, meteor placement, lag, etc.
Also, Selene is nice.
it might seem risky but even with beam on your head you can sneak in an extra hit right after chariot and get back to the group before beam fires off.
basically gotta run in at like 95% of chariot cast bar, hit boss at maximum range so there's less distance needed to run back and you should be fine.
This is what I do as well when I get the marker. You need to make sure you're group stacks just out of the range of Iron Chariot as well. If they are not you'll most likely not make it. Also you should be able to move back in just before the laser goes off if you get the timing down.
oh yeah good point. forgot to add.
what i usually do is wait for him to turn. once i see the turn animation i move back in to hit and the beam still applies on the group even if i'm on back to fighting the boss.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna try all of that next day we raid, I actually noticed ToD was making me lose GL so I dropped it altogether but I still lost it sometimes which is what prompted me to post, guess it's a matter of timing and getting experienced with the fight, all in all I barely clocked 3~4 hours total on it
You can ToD but just don't waste a GCD keeping it up when you know he's going to jump. The jumps are always at the exact same times in the encounter.
Not a MNK main but how hard does Iron Chariot hit? Could maybe pop Foresight and eat the knockback into the group for beam. Our OT WAR does this but then WAR has enough HP/defense to not give a damn so.
Hey guys, i've been using macros for my monks attacks, such as:
/ac "Demolish" <t>
/ac "Twin Snakes" <t>
/ac "Dragon Kick" <t>
but the problem is, in rare cases, it fires off dragon kick instead of say, demolish, despite being in the correct form for it. then of course, when i try to recover by continuing, it will do twin snakes... then fail AGAIN and dragon kick instead. it doesn't always happen, but it tends to happen a few times per dungeon at least and it annoys me greatly since it makes me lose greased lightning.
I realize i can manually use all the attacks to prevent this, but uh... that kinda chews up most of the easy to reach buttons, leaving not much in the way of buffs and the like.
Having never used a macro for anything, I can only guess, but I have a feeling trying to queue skills will cause this mix up. I know tanks were having this same problem using macros to combine Shield Lob/Tomahawk and Fast Blade/Heavy Swing.
I would highly recommend not using macros, because there's really no need on MNK. Buffs don't need to be on convenient buttons because they get used infrequently (in comparison).
The main problem with your macro is that it has the Opo form move. That is always going to cause occasional misfires unless you always wait + don't spam. Though at the point where you only have Raptor+Coeurl in the macro you may as well go the extra mile and do full manual.
My UI/keybinds have been cited by people I know as "weird as hell" but my MNK buttons are like (somewhat dated pic, just giving keybind ideas):
Spoiler: show
Q or E ->
1 or 2 ->
3 or 4 -> top
I also use ctrl+spacebar and shift+spacebar for a couple things. Lots of options. MNK especially doesn't have a lot of buttons used because like 25% of their learned abilities are garbage.
the chariot won't kill you even without that stuff on, but gets you low. i don't like it cause you chance getting killed by the beam if you're bounced into the group. with second wind you might be able to survive, though. all i know is when i tried to eat chariot i was panicking trying to get the hell out of the way of the beam cause wind wasn't ready.
i just use an all-buffs/off-cd's button for ease. the order is bfb > internal > steel peak > howling fist > mercy stroke. if i need to use anything in particular out of order (like the stun) i'll have it set to its own key, but mostly i'm just jamming that do-all button in between globals if i see something ready.
you can also combine your shoulder tackle with one of a few options to save space. i used to pair it with dragon kick, but something like demolish or rockbreaker are also options. i ended up putting tackle with rockbreaker instead of DK cause more than once the DK/tackle macro would jam and cause me to lose the 5th attack on perfect balance. for this reason i wouldn't pair it with demolish, either.
Specifically:
There is a window 0.5s (up to 0.0s) before any GCD comes up, where you can hit the raw, unmacro'd button for a GCD skill and it will fire as soon as GCD is come up. You'll know by sound/sight because you won't get the error sound/message during that period. This is GCD queueing.
Any actions bound to a macro cannot be queued like this, as an intentional(?) dev design thing. So it's not optimal for DPS to be doing it generally. There is a case to be made for BRDs but that's not really important to note for MNK.
You can do stuff like bind a bunch of off-GCDs to one button (IR BFB ShoulderTackle SteelPeak; not actually advocating this but as example) to save space and just mash the button. Do not use /wait though. It's terrible because numbers round up and whole numbers rarely ever match up with when you really want to use one.
