(Hope this is the right thread)

So I'm looking into ways of increasing my dps. I've been reading people push 450-500 on T8, and on my parser the highest I've hit is 450ish and on the same run, someone else said I was doing 420ish. My question is really what are ways to improve my dps as a whole? My real job in T8 is just DPS, I will only do mechanics if someone else is unable too. As of right now my opening is the following:

    ToD > PB > Demolish > IR > Snap > BfB > Snap > Steel Peak > DK > Howling Fist > Twin Snakes > Boot > True > Demolish > DK > Twin > Snap > etc. etc. etc.

Now the times I refresh ToD and Demolish is < 3 seconds. I've read about how the DoT's tick and when should be a good time to refresh them.

Any type of criticism or help is much appreciated and wanted to get more feedback from the MNK community.

TL;DR: How do I push my dps to 450+ at a constant rate, and how do I MNK correctly?

Might want to ask those MNKs who are hitting those numbers if A: They have another MNK and are leeching Dragon Kick and B: Are they getting Paeon?

I have solid DPS but in my group I do not get Paeon and I am the only MNK. I also deal with the Mines/Towers where as I know some do not have to. For a good chunk of the fight I am TP starved and my DPS falls off. Our entire group is fine overall though, so I stopped worrying about having the highest parse.

Yeah true. I'm not worried about the rest of my group cause they are all very good at what they do and their DPS is top-notch, from what I've seen. So its not about questioning them, more along the lines of how can I better myself.

But ya most of the fight I'm not TP starved. From what I've noticed it's best to pop Invigorate at around 490 TP, then by the time you hit 0 again, you should have another invigorate up. Then what our brd does is pop Paeon after the 2nd Dreadnaught till full, and we should have enough for the rest of the fight. Would make a log of sense if another MNK is leeching DK.

Yea. I don't even get Paeon, so can't help ya much. I've just learned to deal. I pop invig @500 and as soon as I can each time, still sucks!

There's probably nothing wrong with your rotation. You're either not using X-Pots or just not pushing buttons fast enough. This is something that becomes pretty easy to spot if you watch a replay of yourself. What I'm saying is that your DPS problems are execution-based and not strategy-based (rotation, party makeup, TP song, etc).

Also, monk invigorate is 400 TP last I checked. Did they buff it?

No, but if you use it at 600 you might get TP ticks which is kind of a waste.

Waiting till 490 is probably too long tho, just keep an eye on tics, when you get a tic that only takes you up to sub 600 then its a good time to use it.

It may also be useful to drop ToD when you start to get low on TP

i increased my dps a lot by shifting ir/b4b down to sync better with GL3. i don't do tod to start, but my opening was similar to yours in off gcd placement in the opener. mine is now

    tackle > pb > demolish > snap > snap > b4b > dk > internal > twin > steel peak > bootshine > howling fist > true > demolish > tod

having the buffs aligned with gl3 up instead of gl 1 and 2 really made a difference for me.

540 is the highest guaranteed number to not lose Invig TP.

Hmmm, ya that def sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try this out. Getting the complete buff on the stacks seems awesome. Thanks.

come on, you push back buffs for all of 2 GCDs. wow such uptime. i won't debate whether or not it helps, since i don't know. but this is like tunnel-visioning on potent poisoning potions to help you kill conflags with full echo

Is 447 dps on dummy (no pots, no food, no party buff) about what I should be doing for i110 MNK (Glanzfaust)? That's without ToD and using flank -> rear -> flank rotation (with demo every 2 rotations).

So after seeing that 520 DPS NIN video I went to beat a training dummy for a bit myself, and at i109 (Glanzfaust) I could only hit ~430 over three minutes (which is coincidentally when I ran out of TP). I don't think my rotation is really off but something must be based on how adamant some people are that NIN isn't as broken as it seems. The NIN would have to be using an i110 weapon at best, so I must be missing something. I wasn't using Touch of Death, but I did have another MNK in the party for the STR buff.

I did a quick test and ended up with ~470 over 3~3:30 minutes completely unbuffed (no food and no party buff) with ilvl 111 (Nexus and Shiva's bracelet), I'm pretty sure a better MNK could squeeze an extra 10 DPS easily, 500+ doesn't seem too far off with party buff and food.

Then again 520 on a job that doesn't require any positioning and doesn't depend on GL stacks falling seems a bit broken if you ask me.

Shouldn't run out of TP before 3 minutes (you should have used your second Invig and you'll be dry after that one is used up) - definately able to hit 500 with some good RNG prior to patch (full ilvl110/bis), but not consistently. Do you know what gear that NIN was running?

I wonder if skill speed gonna be used more now that we can have goad bitches.

Also if you are too nervous and socially awkward to ask you Ninja I have some openers to help,

    "Bitch Goad me" <--The classic
"Bitch, I'm in need of Goad" <- when you feeling nice

I was at about ~200 TP at the 3ish minute mark so "out" was a slight exaggeration. I'm sure their gear has probably been upgraded since this video was made but I'm not really sure what specifically they used. Here's the video. One of the other problems I had was that the flank/rear zones on dummies seem extremely small, so every so often I would miss a Bootshine crit or not get the flank bonus on DK/Snap Punch. Even still, this seems like a large discrepancy.

Both excellent ways to get your healer some Goad.

I believe a fully pentamelded MNK with the new ilvl110 crafted can do 530+ easily, crafted gear makes a big difference - probably can be optimised beyond that.
