Opening with a special or two will also help get that first head down fast.
I had to redo Orthrus so much it actually made me angry how often he was killing me. Eventually it boiled down to luck, I zerged the sh*t out of the Blue head asap and got lucky on its breath attacks... I know you can steal items from one head that'll do ~500 dmg to the other head. (the combat items).
Other than that I'd recommend having your healing not worry about building default, and simply casting Cura every turn on the entire party to counter-act any aoes they might toss.
ch. 5

trying some lvl 99 Nemesis... and holy shit at Asmodeus.
Asmodeus:
Casts Thundaga for 5k damage
Sucks in 1 PT member and keeps them for 3-4 rounds (you can have 2 PT members sucked in at the same time)
- This rips the PT members all from their buffs (includeing HP up from Spiritmaster trait)
- When put out the PT members are charmed
Poison sting, 1 target damage that induces various status ailments, poison 100%, paralyzed, dread, blind, silence all random
Has insane speed, my spiritmaster needed Thf +20% speed trait and hermes shoes to go first ¬.¬
Take on 1: Main/Support
Setup:
Edea: Freelancer/Singing
- Traits set: Hasten World (2 BP per turn returned), Abate Lightning, Speed up 20%
- Use: My Hero in conjuction with Mimic to give every round 2 BP back to allies on top of the 2 BP from Hasten World
Agnes: Spiritmaster/Whitemage
- Traits set: Maximize HP (I should remove this trait is useless in this fight once sucked in)/Speed up 20%
- Use: Enigma to nullyfy magic damage taken in conjunction with Fairy Ward to stop the status ailments from poison sting, heal in between
Tiz: Templar/Commerce
- Traits set: P. defense up 30%, P. Defense up 20%
- Use: Rampart to nullify physical damage taken for PT members, use Takeover ot deal damage
Ringabel: Thief/Bushido (i think this sub is useless need to think of something else)
- Traits: Speed up 30% UP, Speed up 20% Up
- Use: Godspeed to deal damage every round, with all the BP regain from Edea and hasten world you can use it every round for 9999 damage and with a good speed built in equip and traits the enemy takes even on default that much damage), switch to lifesteal if Healing is needed
everythign went well until my Tank/physical mitgation Tiz got sucked in, followed 2 or 3 rounds later by Agnes being sucked in (she is the one to keep of magic damage and ailments with enigma fairy ward and cure the PT)... Shit went downhill from then ¬.¬. Debating if I should switch edea from freelancer/singer to singer/freelancer, more speed but at the cost of 1.5k HP which hurts in this fight (if she dies then everything goes downhill too). Should definitly switch Ringabels sub to something different, maybe take on Ranger as sub and deal damage with bow and RNG abilitys.
Note: if 2 pt members are sucked in and the other 2 die, the fight is over
anyone else has a strategy/take on for this fight lol
the job bosses have a different combination with each chapter and you get some back info on them, they are also harder, some of the best challenges came from chapter 8 job combo fights, you dont fight them solo, they become with each chapter a fully fledged party with a sidestory and different combinations, also they have a little nice sidestory and drop good stuff (not best but good).
Hardest combo to fight was on chapter 8 against the PT of DRK, MNK, Pirate and singer. That shit was retarded ¬.¬. As said pure optional but very fun fights neverthless and each time more challenging with different combinations, they also give you nice ideas for your own pt setups.
2 questions
1) do you guys use weapons based on the attack power or on the ranking for the job?
2) for attack does job lv help the dmg made per hit?
Hitting for 200 per blow at chapter 3 is kinda low lol
weapons should be picked at their base damage, however weapon rank effects how much attack bonus the weapon gets. S gives 100% base dmg boost on the weapon while E gives nothing (however you can boost every weapon for 1 trait point to SE rank if you equip the corresponding trait to the char). however sometimes its better to sport a weapon with less base dmg but has an add effect of elemental damage the enemy is weak to. STR affects also how hard you hit, so your main level affects also how hard you hit, then Job level matter too. Each job has a corresponding % based boost to stat that goes up.
Example Monk:
Monk HP+30% MP-30% STR+30% VIT+20% INT-40% MND-20% DEX 0% AGI+20%
now each job level adds another 1% to all stats, makeing a lvl 14 job give 14% stat boost accross all stats. Job level is also linked ot magic damage increas and number of hits on a normal attack.
the question is when you equip chars: are you willing to sacrifice trait points to boost your weapon rank to S so you can use a very high base damage weapon on a job that has an E rateing for it, or do you want to equip a more beneficial trait instead (like Physical attack +10% or 20%) but use a lower base dmg weapon you have naturally an S or A rank in it? It all depends, for example I tried useing in the early game angels bow on mnk (high base damage bow), but had to put in bow lore trait to get the rank to S to benefit from it, but since mnk have 0% on DEX their accuracy was lacking, makeing them not land all hits, in the end it was more beneficial for me to go hand-to-hand and equip accuracy trait from ranger. Shits situational ._. and depends what you are fighting. but in general if you are fighting fodder mobs higher base damage in the equip screen > lower base damage.
It's my day off today, bought some very nice speakers for my 3DS and the results has been nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend having some very good speakers or loud headphones for this game, it's very worth it for the music alone. Voice acting is not too bad either, I am enjoying it.

I am going to add as much people as I see, so far I only have Xopher as a friend lol. Add me back!
Edit: Just got done adding at least 15+ people browsing randomly back a few pages.
Akiyama, Serra, Sonomaa, Cream Soda, Julian, Fievel, Burningthoughts, Hioki, Krandor, Xerlic, SamonoskeShiva, mistmonster, the blackrose, Levin, Ragnell, Draylo, and InsaneCyclone.
Fraking Red Mage asshole fight.
Fraking Revenge.
Fraking frak.
I basically raped the Red Mage by defending on most turns to avoid any possibility of revenge and letting my Valkyrie with Aerials on the ability do High Jump for like 6-9k per lol. Then like if he Cura'd for a turn I'd let my two Rangers loose with their specials. Also be sure to equip something to lessen Lightning Damage. :>
I'll add you soon, Hito.
For those who may be having trouble with the elemental dragons for Vampire, I've found a really nice strategy for em

Hope that helps, it sure as hell made it a lot easier for me.
So.. has anyone else not turned off their 3DS since Friday? I just realized I haven't since starting this game..
Yeah...I can see a nip slip on the Summoner AR card or it's just jagged up.
