I macro'd it in with savage blade and halone so I use it whenever it activates. Dunno if it's the best use or not because I just started playing PLD and only for Gardua as an OT.

I use it because the animation looks cool. Fuck you.
Personal preference but I'd advise against this just in case it triggers in your first rotation of the fight or just in case you don't see it go off so mess up your combo. Not that it breaks combo but you might be going Fast > Savage > Rage and if Swipe activates on the Savage, you might not realise and still hit Rage anyway which would be uncomboed.
At least that's why I keep it on a standalone macro and just use it whenever it comes up instead.
On a side note: fuck consumables for breaking combo. What is this shit?
I think the best thing they could do with it is give it a 3-4x threat modifier. Keep it as it is, but make it do slightly more threat than the average of a halone combo (I think 3.5x threat would make it decent). That way you can just happily hit it every single time it procs and not suffer a threat loss overall. It's always the priority move to hit when it's up in a DPS rotation of course, but at such a criminal threat loss.
Yeaaaaah, figured it was still worthless. Was holding onto a lingering hope that someone found something ultra useful for it... like that it works on T5 or something retarded like that.
I would rather it be off GCD and on a 15-30s cd tbh. Then I can stick it in a macro and actually use it.
blast, wrote out a long comparison of warrior and paladin with the proposed changes for the last 5 hours but I couldn't post links, meant to copy over the links and lost everything.
The new warrior cooldowns are fairly impressive, it definitely has similar strength to paladin cooldowns in terms of flat reduction.
Secret paladin OP technique for winning caduceus races, executing turn 4 dreads, and other DPS checks: When the boss is <10% HP: finish a Halone for debuff->STR potion->Fight or Flight->Fracture->Bulwark->Shield Swipe spam. You are now operating at MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE. Bask in your own glory.
After reading these last pages I actually started using swipe again tonight. Don't think I used it once since before I had darklight. Pretty sure I've been missing out on some DPS on longer fights.
So ive been reading that outside of myth/allagan the best ear/ring accessories are gryphonskin and rose gold ear screws.
Whats the best way to meld them? What the stat cap on VIT/parry on them?
10VIT, 12Parry.
I can't comment on the "best" way to meld them, since I use all my iLv70 stuff for both BRD + WAR ("Why are you posting in the PLD thread?" Shut up.), so I do:
T4 VIT (+8), T4 Parry (+9), T3 Crit (+6), T3 Crit (+6), T2 VIT (+2).
That caps VIT and Crit, with a hefty chunk into Parry. It can get pretty pricey though, if you're unlucky. I've only melded one accessory like this, and I blew up 1 Parry4, 4 Crit3s, and 40 VIT2s. Thank god VIT2 costs less than 5k.
Question in general, since it was brought up - is Fracture worth using on PLD? Given the low duration, I was wondering if the damage caused by the DoT is worth using a global cooldown.
For tanking, no. It's a 220 potency attack for 80 TP, provided it ticks for the duration. A Halone Combo has an average of 203.3 potency for 66 TP on average. It's a teeny tiny DPS upgrade as long as you don't bottom out on TP. It's a massive threat loss, and a big loss of damage-per-TP to use though.
It's not like we have a huge propensity of good crossclass skills of course, and it has -some- value in "burst damage" segments for sure, but in most cases it's actually detrimental to use it.
In the same vein of conversation, how do you guys feel about using stoneskin during fights? Is it as highly situational as I feel like it is? I just started coil and the tank/leader keeps telling me to use stoneskin throughout the caduceus fight even though it seems like a terrible idea.
I honestly just use Stoneskin whenever there's enough of an allowance for me to do so (Titan jumping, Garuda doing her shit, Cauduceus getting baited successfully into tail TP moves; general downtime between Turn 4 waves if possible).
Probably depends on how fucktarded your DDs are or if you've got secure enmity I guess as far as timing goes, if we wanted to be basic about it.
Stoneskin is our best Cross-Class skill by far, but it's usage is limited. Generally, the times when you can't do anything else is when you want to use Stoneskin. Personally, I use it the most when off-tanking and I constantly stoneskin the MT or key party members. It's one of the reasons why I like being a PLD OT.
The main limitation with stoneskin spam is actually our MP. Yes, we have Riot Blade, but the Halone Combo is far more useful and frankly Stoneskin isn't that good.
Stoneskin is useful in many situations but it is MP intensive as states. The best usage is when an OT for sure. It's saved my ass once or twice but isn't anything to rely on at 10% damage.
It's fairly useful in T2 boss since the OT doesn't have much to do. Spamming it on MT helps alleviate some of the burden on the healers.
