Valor Body+Legs > Allagan Body+Legs. I didn't understand mentioning nearly full BiS and then posting a picture that actually contains very few pieces of actual BiS..

Allagan Body is better than Valor?

It's essentially 20 Parry (Valor) -vs- 7 Determination + 10 Accuracy (Allagan).

Personally, I think the Parry is the way to go, since Accuracy can easily be made up in other slots naturally anyway, so no point in overkilling on it, and Determination is just Determination; I prefer mitigation.

Haven't seen this on here yet, but looks like the Enmity table has been updated. Shield Oath gives (0.8 x 1.5) enmity, so basically +20% Enmity.

I don't think you can use Valor Hands without also having to swap to Valor feet which will end up swapping the DET on Allagan for the Crit on Valor.

And Allagan feet look better, so there's that.

I'd be using my valor hands if I didn't currently need the acc from Allagan hands to use valor body instead of Allagan. BIS vs not BIS is so marginal in this game that you could really get away with wearing anything probably as long as you're accuracy capped. Feels like wotlk tanking in WoW where HP > everything and nothing else realllly matters that much.

I have exactly 473 Accuracy. Zero accuracy on Body, Hands, Legs+Feet (Darksteel Melded). See Lodestone for deets.

Also 95% of Tanks in FF14 think they are tanking in WoW as you can tell by the Darklight accessories worn by full i90 (left side) tanks. Just wait for PVP and they will all change to i70 dex/str acc with vit/parry melds.

Who cares about darklight vs griphonskin accessories when you can literally roll the dice and equip a random piece of loot in every slot and win every fight in the game? Waste of Gil when I'll just have full Allagan accessories and already do turn 1-5 in just over an hour on Monday every week. Death Sentence comes close to forcing gear decisions to matter but the amount of cool downs Paladin has to deal with it makes only HP really matter.

I made an i70 shield because I block with it as much as PLD with 191 DEX block with a relic+1/allagan, it gives me a chance to meld even more materia, and it makes Bulwark amazing.

I thought I would only use the shield for Twintania but once I got all the materia on there, I've been sort of full timing it since it really is nice to have a 15 second cooldown that mitigates 36% damage nearly 100% of the time.

Eanae all that I am saying is I will never use i90 accessories for PLD. I use my extra stats from i70 100% of the time I think I would use an extra 400 HP from 25 VIT probably never.

I wouldn't exactly completely dismiss Itemlevel 90 accessories, but, at least with the ring, I'm currently pondering how good an upgrade the Hero's Ring would be over what I'm currently wearing.

I've got the Allagan Ring and an HQ Gryphonskin Ring melded with 12 Parry, 10 VIT and 4 DET, compared to the Hero's Ring I'm missing out on 5 VIT and 4 ACC (the latter of which I don't need, got Allagan Bracelets because I'm definitely not taking the Allagan shield over anyone who wants to play PLD but doesn't want to use points for the +1 shield). In the event of a switch, I would therefore lose

9 STR
9 DEX (which put me at exactly 200, is that where a new tier begins? Forgot if it was in 20- or 30-increments)
4 DET
9 Skill Speed
1 Parry.

Unless I really, really want to go full turtle, I'm not seeing the point as of yet.

You're getting into Sex Panther levels here and it would be nice to see an extensive parse proving what you claim. Also, it's relatively unlikely someone on your server hasn't cleared Twintania at this point for the simple reason that things like that are a bit harder to track than they were on XI servers.
