I'm assuming that attack modification was for Plds off-tanking damage? I'm curious as to whether it was intended to simply be an increased source of damage or if it was supposed to assist Plds and staying near the hate threshold without going over.

If I'm using valor gloves u should be using valor feet? And vice versa with allagan? I always thought valor hands and allagan feet. Well good to know!
If you mix hands/feet you end up with an accuracy deficit. Valor feet have accuracy on them, Allagan hands have accuracy on them. If you use Valor hands and Allagan feet you lose 21 accuracy.
That's why I was thinking that combo. Allagan helm lol. 0/4 on helm and blade
Well, got my Allagan hands like six weeks ago and was waiting for the feet to drop to put them on, buuuuut guess I'll just pitch them now.
I'll still wear them because that combo looks so much better than Valor does.
I need the ACC from Allagan Gloves, but don't want to miss out on Parry; this is slightly inconvenient. Switch from Allagan feet to Valor? Having lotted two Allagan pieces I don't use wouldn't bode well for my popularity.
Good grief, who even asked for this change?
Any thoughts or tips on using controller over keyboard. There seems to be an excess of abilities that the crossbar just can't handle. I could switch to keyboard, but that would be a whole new learning curve for dodging etc.
I've used both, not really a noticeable difference other than I have to have more complex macros for controller, and I don't have limit break on the 1st bar (usually on hotbar2). I tank coil as using controller...but I'm a console fps player, so controller just feels better for me while moving.
specifically this:
/macroicon “Fast Blade”
/ac “Fight or Flight” <me>
/ac Bloodbath <me>
/ac “Mercy Stroke” <t>
/ac “Fast Blade” <t>
(I also add spirits within to this macro, and every part of the Rage of Halone combo, so that I'm popping SW at every opportunity to max out dmg, unless of course I'm needed for a dedicated silence, in which case I have macros saved without SW, and replace shield bash with SW)
/marking attack1 <t>
/ac “Shield Lob” <t>
I typically do not have cover on HB1, unless is a fight where i might actually use it.
I haven't had cure on set as an ability since i went past like 5500hp...do more dmg.
I have flash and CoS set as individual buttons rather than macro'd, just because of the nature of WP and other multi-mob tanking scenarios, I like to see the cooldown on CoS and the mp cost of flash.
Since WP came in as a killer way to get myth, I set riot blade in HB1 anytime I know I will have to spam flash a lot (when it's not on HB1, I put cover there, whichever is on HB1, the other is on HB2)
I have most of my defensive CD's seperate other than awareness and foresight macro'd together, but I'm going to change that to something like this, since I usually pop these close together anyway, still playing with the wait times...doing this so I can work in shield swipe more.
/macroicon "Rampart"
/ac “Rampart” <me>
/wait 5
/ac "Foresight" <me>
/wait 1
/ac "Awareness" <me>
When I was a gamepad user, I made use of the "/chotbar #" command to automatically switch to another hotbar so I didn't have to weave through it so much and stay on track.
2.1 is adding a new L2+R2 crossbar that'll make pad much easier. That said I already WAR on pad fine without macros which has a bit more lower CD skills/combos than PLD, so not really sure why you'd have issues. Just put longer CD skills on the second bar and lower CDs/frequently used stuff on bar 1, only takes a simple tap of R1 to have your second bar available. If you're struggling to keep track of CDs you can put a regular (KB) hotbar above the crossbar and put all your buffs/procs there to easily keep track of them.
Since we're on the subject... L1+Up/Down on d-pad will cycle through enemies on the enmity list too, which will be pretty handy for clusterfuck pulls like WP speedruns.
I use a lot of /ac OnGCD /wait /ac OffGCD in terms of macros. Basically anything that you want on cooldown (or don't care enough to manage) in a giant list after that first ability, so it fires something and then something else while the GCD is ticking.
Thanks, pretty much what I have been doing. Some new good tips also. Just need more practice at it. I have a new appreciation for tanking. I now hate myself for taking hate from so many tanks on purpose lol. Karma ftw.
Edit: more stuff for controllers. Copy and pasted from reddit
・Hotbars that are called by simultaneously holding LT + RT, or L2 + R2, can now be registered.
These hotbars can be set by selecting the Expanded Hold Controls option on the Cross tab of the Hotbar Settings menu found within Character Configuration.
This option is deactivated by default.
Actions, such as autorun or registering cross hotbars, that require L1 + LB to be held down simultaneously will be unavailable while L2 + R2 and LB + RB cross hotbars are activated.
The currently displayed cross hotbar will be saved upon logout.
You can now scroll through the enmity list using LB/L1 + up/down on the direction buttons.
You can now scroll through the alliance list using LB/L1 + right/left on the direction buttons.
When using a gamepad/controller, the cursor will now appear at the top of the list when accessing subcommands.
