Indeed it is. I've been able to do Halone Combos in Sword Oath non-stop, granted the MT is similarly geared.

New Shield Oath is bordering on being boring, you can almost keep hate just by looking at mobs.

Crown has Strength +15, Vitality +17, Parry +19, Determination +9. May not be the best, but I'd still say this and Valor body will be a step up from DL body any day.

That's how the old Shield Oath was too. I don't know how or why people ever had problems.

I don't think it was quite that potent; at least you had to cycle through mobs and distribute combos if you wanted to keep hate on everything without simply spamming Flash, especially with DDs straying off from the designated target, healers DoTing the mobs and all that fun stuff. That used to be quite a lot of fun, but from what I have seen, the usual three Flashes for maximum Blind-duration seem to cover about everything now. A bit too easy; keeping track of hate on all targets was quite enjoyable and actually added some fun.

    Lovely avatar, by the way.

Whilst I've never personally lost hate with Shield Oath up, I have habitually tore hate off other tanks whilst in Sword Oath when I was supposed to be the OT to the point where I had to hold back.

Unless we're talking about PLD vs PLD though, never had an issue like you say (never had to tank with a good WAR so don't know how they fared)

I've had the same issue. I had to normally either switch to Riot Blade or just autoattack for a while so that I didn't pull hate. For example, the first dreadnaught in T4, I often had to stop using skills or i'd risk turning it on the party, and obviously I use Sword Oath for that.

Sword Oath PLDs were a huge problem for Shield Oath PLDs. I'd go as far as saying if you never had problems with them you'd be lying.

I noticed that while doing the high lvl duty finder roulette. I saw I was put in WP with PLD BLM BLM and SCH, and I asked if they wanted to speed run.

I had no problems with aggro even without a BRD.

Did people have a problem with aggro before without a bard? Kind if curious as I never understood using ballad during fights.

This is the true fact. Seen this both as the OT and the MT.

yes I'd be borderline on losing aggro to a blm prepatch without ballad. now they aren't even close.

this might also be due to umbral ice's double dip spell speed nerf.

I guess I'm a compulsive liar then or something, because I never have. My FC has many PLDs, so I've seen a lot of different OTs, and literally zero have ever given me trouble.

You're probably significantly better than your OTs.

Given that the 1.2 enmity multiplier on Shield Oath wasn't enough to negate the loss of enmity from the -20% damage, it's effectively impossible to have not had an off-tank using Sword Oath that wasn't either pulling hate off you or throttling their damage on purpose to avoid it.

The new Shield Oath combined with Flash makes crowd control a joke.

More or less the bolded. If a Sword Oath PLD was doing nothing but Halone Combos the entire time, there's no way the MT would be holding hate unless you were significantly better geared. Whenever I was Sword Oath I do Riot Combos whenever I'm close to pulling hate.

You've just been lucky. An OT spamming Halone + a healer spamming cures would make you lose hate automatically or make you have a real hard time to keep it, unless you had tons of skill speed which I doubt you have since you're PLD. That was before 2.1.
I yelled at OTs telling them to auto-attack for that purpose.

The problem wasn't really to hold hate against another PLD. But due to the hate mechanic the one who takes hate is the healer when you have an OT spamming hate generating abilities.

    My PLD Gear was:

    Average ilvl77
    Zenith Sword and Shield
    Hoplite Head
    Allagan Body
    Darklight Hands
    Darklight Waist
    Allagan Pants
    Hoplite Feet
    Darklight Earrings
    Darklight Neck
    Darklight Wrists
    Allagan Ring
    Hero Ring

Then I logged in and grabbed my Valor Head and Hands yesterday. And decided I was going to wait till after coil to grab my Valor Feet.

Welp long story short I got T1 Allagan Feet last night as well as T4 Allagan Wrists...

    My PLD Gear now is:

    Average ilvl85
    Zenith Sword and Shield
    Valor Head
    Allagan Body
    Valor Hands
    Darklight Waist
    Allagan Pants
    Allagan Feet
    Darklight Earrings
    Darklight Neck
    Allagan Wrists
    Allagan Ring
    Hero Ring

So now I'm thinking I should grab Valor legs and replace my Darklight Neck and Waist with Ultima i80 Neck and Crystal Tower i80 Waist? That should still leave me fine on accuracy and gets rid of two i70 pieces.

Just thought I'd check and see if anyone else has a different path I should follow?
