Attractive, idealized characters are the name of the game in fiction... people need to get over it. (I say people but I mostly mean women because you don't really see men whining about the portrayal of men in games for the most part and men only ever complain about female characters because they are playing WK Chronicles IRL)

I agree that the generalizing sort of criticism needs to go, as there's nothing wrong with attractive men and women in media. Not all criticism is invalid, though. Nonetheless, the only good discussions I've seen on this subject are comparisons between excessively sexualized art, much of which ignores actual anatomy, versus art that serves a more substantial purpose while still containing sexy characters—the latter being more interesting, and actually artistic (e.g., not drawn by Rob Liefeld). The most brain-dead discussions are those that ferociously posit that anything sexy is automatically awful, no matter its presentation.
